Southampton Post Match Thread

Sounds like you were a bit lucky again today boys! Southampton having 54% of the play and 11 shots on target against your 6.

Once again though you won on fouls and yellow cards, conceding more fouls and getting more yellow cards.

Where is this magic that Sven has? It's gone just like he soon will be. You've spent £10 million pound on average players.

Piss off! :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

What a shambles, can't believe we won it, schmeical won us that.

We need at least 2 strikers and a winger, we never had an outlet all 2nd half.

Southampton and especially Lallana were quality though.

A win, 3 points, great, but all I will say is it was anything but convincing.

I remember saying in one of the many Maynard threads and saying a striker was our priority, blah, blah, blah, someone can't remember in which Maynard thread, can't remember who replied but they basically said 'no, defence was our priority, and Sven has sorted that'.

Has he?

Excellent win today against an in form side.

I just wonder why sven cant see what we all saw in the second half.

He had plenty of time and numourous chances to change.

And we have defenders willing to throw their bodies infront of anything. Just thought I'd throw a plus point in there somewhere.

What's that I hear? Is that the sound of bitterness? :crylaugh:

True, but in what formation would they be played?.

Thats what worries me.

i think we're on our own here, it's incredible how quickly people forget how well we played for the first half, why do some people think that southampton had no right to get right back into that game....

we are still learning and gelling, and must have been terrified of surrendering a lead and still not winning at home.

i'm fucking ecstatic :scarf::chant:

One of the 4 cms has to be left out, they're all too similar and it has to change.

We got lucky today, our 3rd was a foul from what I saw.

sven makes a good point re the formation change - perhaps it was more to do with the distribution to the front three players that was the problem rather than the formation itself.

Although I'll admit it wasn't a convincing victory, I'm willing to see the positives, that we now have a team thats able to fight to keep a lead against a decent, in-form team. Its one of the things that would have made the difference between where we finished and a play off place last season.

So on that note.....

sounds like at the end there was some heroic defending

Think i'd call it more lucky than heroic, Mills had a complete shocker again today, i think we could have spent that 5 million a lot better
