Tbh I really enjoyed that, 3 good goals in the first half, hanging on for the last half hour. That's entertainment.

I still love Bamba, even when he drops a bollock he gets himself out of it, Fernandez,Wellens and Danns all played great. Schmicheal kept us in it but their keeper made some saves aswell.

That was the best game to watch in a long time...

Full of chances, great saves, blocks, atmosphere

Very enjoyable match at the king power

Very good first half... very bad second half.

No need to change the system- but delighted with the win.

As for the ref, another very poor one... for BOTH sides. Absolute stonewall penalty for the foul on Schlupp. Need to see it clearer, but Bamba was all over Lambert- think the ref was trying to make up for the shocker of not giving us a peno. And apparently, he gave their player two yellows- heard this on the radio?

Nugent's injury was a bit of a kick in the nuts.

However, I've just realised, it's now an international break! If we have to have an injury to a striker, now was the ideal time. He may be close to being fit, or even available for the next match.

We still need to get a striker or two in, though. Hopefully at least one by September, with another on loan later maybe.

blimey....there needs to be a health warning when you watch us.

I thought we played well during the first half when we seems to revert to the 4-4-2 system, Schlupp and Vassell caused there defenders a good deal a trouble at times and I think we could have easily been 5 up at half time if Kon's free kick and Gelson's head hadnt been well saved by there keeper.

when we went 4-5-1 or 4-3-3....dunno what it was but we didnt seem to have the cutting edge we had in the 1st half. Kasper certainly kept us ahead.

Just hope the win will give the lads the confidence to go on from here. :scarf:

I think we need to give Southampton some credit, they look brilliant going forward and there's few championship defenses that would have kept them out today. Thought Pantsil, Bamba and Konchesky did well but a disappointing game for Mills.

As for the change in formation, it was a success, we won.

I assume you would think it was also good of vassel to get himself red carded at cov? We won afterall

I think we looked dangerous in the first half. 4-5-1 isn't working when our "target man" is 5ft 6" or something. More pressing, more urgency and we'll be unstoppable. Good win, a win was paramount before the International break.

That was a brilliant game.

Southampton came to attack and did so very well, which helped us to play too. They're a very good side and will be up there this season, very impressed. A draw would've been fair as we had the first half and they had the second half.

Pleased with our resolute defending towards the end, I thought they were going to score, so I'm pleased we held out. There's still a few problems, but I'm not going to let them kill my pride today, our first win at home against a decent team, which will do wonders for our confidence.

In Svens post match interview he was asked about signing a striker before the transfer window closes and he said he'd try but it might take 2 or 3 weeks. Makes me think he's trying to get someone on loan.

Vassel getting sent off wasn't planned and wasn't a tactical choice by Sven.

Was tongue in cheek anyway

Just back. Was an awful game to watch from the Kop - all the action was down the other end!

Saint's fans put us to shame - you'd never have know we were winning. :( And why oh why did we sign "when the blues (saints) go marching in"? It's THEIR song  It's embarrassing that we have to nick stuff.

I agree with sbd - defence needs more games together.

Oh and once again - tuning into RL after the game - I found Skinner gets it completely wrong in the commentary (3rd goal).

EDIT: Skinner also hasn't a clue about bringing Tunchev back.

Its so hard to create new chants, it takes some organisation to get them out there. I thought the southampton fans would be good, they are up there with the best in this division.

Now I have composed myself....

3 points off promotion form after 5 games. Dodgy ref at forest otherwise only 1 point from promotion form. Luck not really with us so far - Probability states we are due some at some stage. Team still in gelling stage! likely more money to be spent - no doubt a class striker or more coming in. Tunchev playing well and potentially back soon. Although close, we just beat a team unbeaten in their last 10 league games and a team we have a dismal record against. A home win, A couple of weeks break to clear up injuries, work on formation / gelling. Including cup games - 4 wins, and a draw in 7 games!

what's not to be optimistic about!!!!

And the Leicestershire Foxes in the T20 final! And the missus won first prize in a photography competition at the Bagworth Show so she's in a good mood! This is how Saturday's should be!!

I never heard him say that. I thought the striker question was not really addressed.

Good win + a needed 3 points. Kasper impressed throughout but so did everyone in the first half. We seemed to collapse second hald though, no midfield really + we put ourselves under pressure. 442 looked very good and then Sven changed it for no reason and it nearly cost us. Another tactical cock up on his part. The defence is still very poor. Its like we dont work on it at all, and we were lucky to hold on.

Good win, but much work still needs doing. Wish we had the three points from forest as it would be a half decent start otherwise.

Can't remember him saying anything about two or three weeks?

Maybe I mis-heard. That's what it sounded like to me. :dunno:
