Mack Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 OK, so Sky allowed Gervais to make an unfunny elongated practical joke on a bloke who pretended to be a miserable git. It was about as funny as having your scrotum cheese grated by David Mellor. But now Idiot Abroad 2 has been made. Why? And can I have the share of my subscription fee back that making this cack cost please.
Frost Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Christ, lighten up a bit. Found it quite funny myself, apart from when Gervais constantly rang up and fake laughed down for a long and painful amount of time. Overall I thought it was good, especially when he went to China.
Fox92 Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 I think the first series was good and funny. Don't watch it if you don't like it, but there are many worser programs to be complaining about than Idiot Abroad.
AdamN Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 There's plenty of stuff on TV that I don't enjoy watching... so I don't watch it. Who fvcking cares?
MikeyT Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 I missed it all when it was on, but saw the dvd in Asda for £4 so bought it to watch. I really enjoyed it and found it very funny. To be fair no one forces anyone to watch it. So, for the effort of holding a remote and clicking a button, hey, it's outta there!
GLC Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 I think it's really good, one of the best things on tv

grth2004 Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 loved the first series , best thing sky have ever done and if you watched the whole series and didnt find any of it funny id say you probably dont have a sense of humour

irDeano Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 I found the first series hilarious but I can't help but worry that the 2nd series isn't going to be as good... Hoping to be proved wrong though
The Doctor Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 While I hate this show (Not even remotely funny), plenty of people do like it and watched it, so it got good ratings - While sky pockets your money, they also rely on a lot of advertising, and if ratings are high they can command more for advertising slots. Hence they've made a second season so as to get more money.

Libertine Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Can't see the attraction, it's completely put on, but I don't watch it so I'm not that bothered. Just wish the adverts weren't on so much.
purpleronnie Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Don't mind it, prefer the podcasts when Karl wasnt a millionaire or playing a role.
Austin Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 I didn't watch it till recently, thought it was good to be honest. Much better then all that X factor jungle shit these days anyway!

I think it's brilliant personally, the podcasts are probably better but the show was great last time.

That's the point. It's like the Ali G & Borat films. They were funny because people thought they were genuine and didn't know how to react to them. Once it became all stage-managed then most of the comedy element was removed. Oh yes, and adverts on Sky - so, we pay to watch AND they stick adverts on? I hate Sky and only have it cos Virgin treated me very badly as a cable TV customer. Seriously thinking of getting a Freesat box soon anyway.

In fact Gervais himself is about as funny as cancer on the whole. The smug twerp Merchant would be a 40 year old virgin if it was'nt for him also. They are dire.
Raw Dykes Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Here is some proper quality comedy... I love the Trailer Park Boys. Here's my favourite moment: I actually really enjoyed An Idiot Abroad. Whether Karl Pilkington is a genuine person or a character doesn't really matter to me - if he is a character, the acting is nothing short of superb. I do understand what it's like to hate popular television, though. I can't stand anything Seth McFarlane has ever made. I find Family Guy, American Dad and the rest of his work the most unbearably unfunny, incredibly badly-written, amateurish, shoddily-made, piece-of-fetid-shite "comedy" the world has ever seen, and with any luck, will ever see. In fact, I wish everyone involved in making that pathetic animation an early death. I only know one person who agrees with me. Everyone else seems to think it's brilliant.
purpleronnie Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Each to there own I think family guy is genius. Plus stewie is the best!!!! People like 'the royal family' (tv show), which I find baffling.

Haha, Family Guy is bollocks. Anyone could write it: "This is worse than the time when *Insert something stupid that has no relation to the plot*" Hate it. On topic: I like An Idiot Abroad. Even if it is put on, it's still pretty funny.
