I am all for the arguements regarding Sven and the boys needing time to gel etc...but ive not seen too much to be excited about so far this season considering the ££££ we've spent and i dont deem a draw at Barnsley (with all respect) too great a result for a so called promotion favs!!

I hate how with each result we always get an extreme reaction. We lose/draw and it's then end of the world and we should sack Sven. We win and we're gonna storm the league. That's not to say we shouldn't be able to assess our team and judge these performances but how many people who are calling for Waggy and Tunch back have actually seen what they have done for their loan clubs?

put SSL on with Mills and Bamba up front alongside Beckford or if he is still injured then Schlupp.

play a 4-4-2 with vassell on one wing, dyer or danns on the other , wellens n fernandes in midfield with king on the bench ready to replace either if they are not performing or available to play up front.

I can only assume that Sven sticks with 4-5-1/4-3-3 because he thinks that when it clicks we'll be unbeatable. He hasn't had the best of luck with injuries but it's getting a little worrying.

I'm on the way back from the game, in the first half we had no clue what we were doing, they were finding the gaps behind our defence and we offered nothing attacking wise.

2nd half was better, king made a difference and our tempo increased and we worried barnsley. We got the goal and after a shambolic last 10 mins in which we were tired and lacklustre, wellens was awful in the second half, after the performance im happy with a point!!

Don't get me wrong im underwhelmed by our start to the season. I still think though that what Sven has done has created a good squad, which, especially when it comes to the new year, I think will be very apparent when we look at the league table. Yes, West Ham have started better but have they had a complete overhaul of their team. Not really in comparison. If we can create some momentum than im sure we will go on a very good run. Today was a bad performance but we came away with a point. Yes it was Barnsley but this was just as much a "must-win" for them as it was us. Suggestions that we are going to be anywhere near the bottom of the league I am putting down to post game over reaction. If people still think that come the morning thats just bizarre.

I would like to think that performances like today are making Sven think about maybe getting in a couple of loans to cover areas where we are a little weak (out wide) and give us a plan B from the bench. Sven is not f'in clueless, despite all his recent big salary moves he has a CV that in comparison to most managers out there is outstanding. Certainly in comparison to every manager in this division. Given time to work out where the team is falling a bit short and whats needed in this league im sure we will be flying up the league. He took us from the bottom of the league last year to finishing 10th place. A league that he'd never managed in. He deserves some time to get things right. We should give it to him. Chill out.

When teams start getting injuries coming into the winter and christmas periods they are going to have to play players out of position or bring in youngsters rather than call on a good player of the same position like we will. The old FAITH sh*t went when Micky Adams was rightfully moved on years ago. Sven has spent a lot of money building a team that has no width and one that isn't great to watch at the moment. Results aside, the lads aren't even playing entertaining football. Sven has been in the job nearly a year and he hasn't hit anything like the right formula yet.

We have a good squad there is no denying that but something is clearly wrong and we are not performing to the high standards, so you have to pose some questions at the management.

We had a fortnight to prepare for this game and yet there was not one single sign of our team improving as a unit. Instead there was yet more evidence of muddled thinking.

It's hard to know where to start although people will surely understand why I've been so unimpressed with our defence. The full-backs offer nothing special whatsoever and the centre-backs lose their men and give the ball away too easily.

But it gets worse.

a) For all the fortnight's preparation I don't remember us delivering one threatening free-kick or corner and even if i missed one there were lots that weren't even nearly delivered accurately or with any great purpose.

b) We develop a diamond formation that serves us so well for two relatively exciting halves against Forest and Southampton and then we abandon it for an illogical 4-3-3 system that smacked of accommodating certain players rahter because it was likely to be the most effective side.

c) For what reason was Gallagher picked? He's not a combative player, he's not a winger and he's not even in form. Why send Danns to the left? And why leave King - always a potential scorer and our best passer - out of any midfield three?

d) We sign a striker and need to give him support and service. The service to him was awful from what was said where was the support apart from the King tap in? The only striker we have available - Schlupp - wasn't even on the bench. Inexplicable unless he's injured and Vassell was operating on cruise control most of the time from what the commentators said..

e) Their second goal came from their left-back having free licence to race forward to launch an attack. With 4-4-2 or a standard diamond it would have been obvious who should pick him up. As it was no-one did the job because there is no right flank partnership or understanding even with the season well established.

Overall there was just no logic, no sense of purpose and no ambition to our approach. Once again this season we have a defence that needs mothering and the rescources needed to do that costs us attacking momentum that we can ill afford.

It is clear what was needed today. A simple 4-4-2 with Vassell and Dyer on the wings, Beckford and Schlupp up front with King the fulcrum and Wellens, Fernandex or Danns in central midfield. Even if we'd played with one winger in the first half I'd still have used Schlupp at left-back to provide some energy down that flank.

We ended up doing nothing with any conviction and a point against ordinary opposition is not going to keep up with the pacemakers. Doesn't our management realise that? It's about winning not voiding defeat and, even acknowledging King's second brilliant chance, Barnsley had excelent chances to score more and Kasper's getting man-of-the-match again only served to emphasise that.

I'm quite calm but don't share your optimism. No strikers on the bench today and poor performances by first choice players.

As much as I love our owners, they're not blameless. We were flying with NP in charge. A team with real passion and determination after almost a decade of complete shite. Im not saying that ANYONE is lying, i just dont beleive anyone can make an educated opinion of how we played based purely on the commentary that the BBC provides.

Wellens seems to make a habit of disappearing second half. But is it all his fault? Seemed to me we were missing out midfield a lot of the time and pumping balls up to Beckford.

On other occasions Wellens was getting what was described as "hospital" balls from Konchesky and Bamba. And where was the support from Gallagher before he went off or from Danns and Fernandes none of whose names were mentioned much in commentary?

How many shots did those three have all game or Wellens himself for that matter? You just won't win things without the ability to get people forward quickly and to get shots on goal.

Every team gets a certain number of chances to do that from dead ball situations but we make so little of them and I've said so for weeks. We've really got to look at our coaching set up and the principles of what we are trying to do.

However you look at it, the team's not good enough and neither is the approach.

The comments people are saying are more about things we have noticed in previous games which we are being told by Stringer and Young are still evident, e.g. shit corners.

If the radio says we are shite at corners, we can all agree that we are shite at corners. Why? Because we have seen it for ourselves. The moaning is more about things which we have been told havent improved, not about new things we havent seen.

The penalty is a side issue and has nothing to do with the shape/balance of our team, the number of shots we had and the countless inadequacies that were apparent in our side. There is much you cannot tell from not being there but you can hear what happens to our free-kicks, you can hear how many shots we have, you can hear who is getting on the ball a lot or giving away possession. There was so much wrong even from that little lot without adding whatever else might have been missing which was apparent to those who went.

If problems clearly exist what's the point in correcting them later rather than sooner? The problems haven't been apparent just for today's game. They've been apparent from day one at Coventry. By now we should all be seeing some improvement and I thought there had been some in the previous two games and that we would just have tweaked the engine today so to speak. But no. We changed the engine, messed with the bodywork, used too many worn parts and left ourselves without any umphhhh.
