Good evening foxes.

Felt inclined to contribute to this thread. I've been watching the goings-on at Leicester since the ownership change (and Sven's subsequent appointment) with interest. Difficult to describe an overiding opinion, there is probably significant envy with regard to your spending power and resources which taints opinion somewhat, something I'd imagine you've become accustomed to. I've read some of your collective digressions on Sven, and a mixed bag it most certainly appears. I was very dubious about his involvement with Notts County (not to mention Mexico), which leads me to question if he is a journeyman manager looking for his final paycheque or two.

Despite any reservations, I still think yourselves, Boro and WH are the teams to beat this year. As many of you recognised we were quick off the mark last year and had an apocalyptic fall from grace to the depths of 19th. Whilst we certainly have stronger foundations this year I think most Derby fans know we're still a work in progress, its nice to be where we are, but we're expecting a strong midtable finish with some hope of being in the playoff mix potentially. Clough, arguably because of connections, has had the backing of the fans and there is such a positive vibe about Derby now with a real sense of history being put right. (Can't resist a subtle dig at Forest).

I expect to see a confident Derby come to town, how we didn't win to go top against Barnsley (something like 26 shots on goal, 9 corners) I don't know, its worth pointing out though that away performances thusfar are in stark contrast to home. We seem to play very tight with discipline in attack and appear to be clinical in the few chances we do get. So I'd imagine the emphasis is very much on you to break us down and for us to hit on the counter. The defence appears capable to date but it is still early days and we should be mindful of your potent strikeforce. I'm going to predict a 1-1.

Is there a real expectation for automatic and what do you think your chances are?

Nice post...

Automatic promotion ? Give us another 10 games and i`ll answer that. We seem to be moving forward but its early days. We need more width because as of the moment we play too narrow....

Good start by you lot by the way.... I watched the forest game on a stream and for 90 minutes you had my untold support.. lol

Yeah, as you say far too early to tell. The table hasn't even begun to settle, one win has you pegging down on the leaders and a loss within a hair's breadth of the relegation places.

With regards to the support which I failed to mention. It is very poor on the Derby end and it sounds as if its not too hot from your side either. Since we were relegated our away support has been shocking and its something which has clearly been picked up on due to the disparity with our home gates. I'm hoping we can pick up the followers we've lost, we've usually had a solid, respectable away support over the years. I can fully understand your home fans staying away with the ticket prices as they are, our buy-on-the-day ticket sales seem to be majorly down despite our good start, though with the 1000's of job losses in the city we were expecting a hit. I'd imagine people are feeling the pinch in Leicester too. I guess with it being on sky its a great excuse to call this away game off and go to another but thats not excusing the poor numbers.

Also for whatever reason, Derby Leicester has lost a lot of its spice in recent years, its been too long (the play-off final) before we've had any real drama or action that is needed to put a spark back into the fixture. In that time, we've obviously had the whole Billy Davies, Nigel Clough, player swaps, on-pitch shenanigans etc. with Forest which obviously intensifies things whilst its all gone mellow and rather stale between Leicester and Derby. I'm not a Derby fan in denial who pretends to think Leicester is a nothing game, beneath it all there is East Midlands pride to play for, rivarlies come and go and hot up and die down but it'd be nice if we can actually have a juicy game between the 2 sides for once, will be the first time in a number of years.

£30 odd plus expenses to see a game is unreal... I see why people dont go, plus like you say, money is tight for many many fans in the current financial climate. I went last year but having Sky Sports, i feel i must justify to the wife by watching at home...

Good luck for the rest of the season. Being from Derbyshire, i like to see you do well...

Finally! I think we all agree Forest-Derby is the biggest rivalry between the 3 of us. There's no question. But it's so refreshing to admit that we're still you're bloody rivals.

I do agree though, our games against Forest are always somewhat....controversial. But, between us and Derby, quite lacklustre in recent years.

Or the fans are just showing PASSSHUNNNNNN! Whats the point in having a friendly rivalry? You either hate a club enough to be a rival or its not rivalry in my eyes.

What worries me is what happens if we don't go up? I mean next season the FFP (Financial Fair Play) rules come into force and we can only spend on wages a percentage of our turnover. We will have to offload 75% of our squad and replace them with kids or up & coming players. Derby seem to have been preparing for this for the last two seasons and are currently above us. We could seriously do a Plymouth if this seson doesn't pan out as Sven expects!

If Sven dares play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 I'd fancy King and Schlupp to score if they play. So 2-1 to Leicester after an avalanche of attacking football!. Just dreaming.....! :scarf::D

This is the big one. Sod Forest, its all about Derby around this area. Living pretty much on the border and knowing a lot of Derby fans, Saturday and the return fixture are my cup finals. I'm scared to even think about the result, as I just couldn't face losing. We've had some good results of late but can see us going down 3 1.

We'd have to be really shit to lose 3-1.

Don't let Derby's results fool you, easy start they'll be mid table before long

Hope so. They tend to start very well, and it was us who ended that run last season, around the same time too. But it doesn't mean to say it'll be the same this time.

I just don't wanna lose

Hope for us to make all the moves in this one a bag a couple of goals. If we can couple that with the solid defense then I'll be very pleased Saturday night.

This is it boys, the biggest game of the season (I know not many of you agree but I was born and bred in Burton on Trent and I absolutely cannot stand Derby County!!). I am so excited I just let out a little squeak. If we win this I will be floating for a week! Can't be arsed to write anymore as I am too excited to even type! Considering injuries:

Kasper

Peltier

Bamba

Mills

Konchesky

Fernandes

Danns

King

Johnson

Nugent

Schlupp

Sven will start with Vassell instead of Schlupp otherwise a perfect team

I think you're probably right. If rotation is key this year then a player like Vaz should be part of that system too. I like Vaz a lot, but would maybe give him the last 20 in this one and run at some tired legs.

If Beckford and Nugent aren't fit then it could be a bit of a battle. I still think we'll win but it would be nice tto get an emphatic win to please the natives. We were accustomed to a lot of goals at home last season and so far it's not really happened, having your 2 main strikers injured won't help either.

I would be tempted to start Lloyd Dyer tomorrow, we're crying out for some width and if Johnson and Wellens are both injured then i'd rather see a flat 4-4-2 with Lloyd on the left and Danns on the right with King and Fernandes or Abe in the middle. Vassell and Schlupp up top with Howard to come on and piss The Rams off yet again.
