Commanders for Libya's transitional authorities say they have captured ousted leader Col Muammar Gaddafi.

Unconfirmed reports say Col Gaddafi has been killed, and AFP obtained a mobile-phone image apparently showing his face covered in blood.

What is it with dictators and hiding in holes, who said that was a good idea?

Bond films would be a lot shorter if all the action took place in a hole instead of an underground secret fortress.

Dictators are crap!

Shame. I salute you, sir. You were the most pro-Africa African since Thomas Sankara. You were true to your words when you said you were gonna die in your home country.

Libya is the 2nd most tribalist country in the Arab world. Watch it slide into utter chaos and civil warfare.

Why do you salute him?

Whilst I think we're foolhardy in supporting the NTC, as they don't strike me as fighting for democracy, I don't see why you salute a dictator with blood on his hands. George Bush did more for Africa than most American presidents previously. Doesn't make him a good president or someone you would salute.

Shame Hitler died. I salute you sir. You were the most pro-European since Napoleon. You were true to your words when said you were gonna die in your home country.

So they've finally destroyed Libya. Thousands of men, women and children have been slaughtered. And most of those surviving are much, much worse off than they ever were. There's nothing to celebrate here at all.

Hopefully the truth about this horrible war becomes mainstream knowledge soon, but judging by the past I doubt it.

We can argue about the semantics, but there are few leaders who doesn't have blood on his/her hands. Gaddafi had his short-comings, but he was extremely pro-Africa and he protected and supported the minorities in Libya, and he wanted a long-term strategy which would make Africa self-sufficient. All current African leader are leeches and parasites [including the Arab Africans]. He was the best of a bad bunch.

Libya had a decent standard of living. Watch it slide into the hands of backward thinking rebels who are supported by NATO and French. I really hope this backfires on France and they regret supplying weapons to the rebels.
