Guest parky0607 Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I appreciated this guy. I dont know what basis he was sacked on. We lost 3-0 to a lower league side, now he didnt change a winning team, like any other manager wouldnt, the fact we lost was pretty much out of his hands. The brum game, the players lost for themselves and again this was also out of his hands. Prior to this we hammered derby. Were a few points away from play offs and autos, and this guy is one of the best managers we could possibly have had. If anyone else appreciated sven, post here!
Chazwaz Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Such a good lad, wish him well for the future! :sge:
z-layrex Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 You're too good for us Sven. I wish you all the luck in the world for the future. :appl:
Trav Le Bleu Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I was really against him coming here, but he won me round with the way he got us so close after our dismal start last year. Always very honest in his interviews and a thoroughly decent person - chopped too early. Yes he'd had a few bad performances, but then so has every team in this league with the exception of Southampton. It was a good year overall Sven. All the best.
Legend_in_blue Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 He's gone because tactically he was inept at this level of football. He's been found out. Everyone harps on about this being a competitive league. Competitive it may be, but it's poor all the same. And yet even Sven's pedigree in "world football" couldn't see off the likes of Kenny Jackett's Millwall. And it wasn't just Millwall. It was countless other teams both this and last season that Sven could not tactically "out-fox". One system. One way to play. No plan B. No alternative. If it doesn't work, switch players for other players but don't change the system. Not good enough.
Corky Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Thanks for the three matches against Derby, Sven. Thanks for the three matches against Derby, Sven.

Fox92 Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Why? We didn't have a Nigel Pearson appreciation thread and he came into a relegated team, won promotion and then made the play offs. What exactly has Sven achieved? He got it wrong this season, and he will most probably know that himself. Yes we are near the play offs, but the performances were not that good, or is that just me? The players didn't look motivated or determined, and the team lacked steel and strength to me. I can only recall thinking we looked fantastic against Derby. He had no plan B. Well he did, Howard. He showed Derby how good he can change a game, but wasn't picked after that. Not good enough. IThe brum game, the players lost for themselves The players may have lost it for themselves, but who picked them? The manager always takes the blame, in any walk of life.
Guest parky0607 Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Fox92 sven couldnt judge whether andy king was going to give away a penalty. He also couldnt judge whether mills was going to go in for a 2 footed challenge. This is the appreciation thread anyway!

dannythefox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 He did some things very very well he got us in the public eye and spent alot of money that is all!

The most ridiculous knee jerk sacking of a manager I can recall. 3 games ago we are unbeaten in x, on a run of clean sheets and all was looking well. We've had a blip where luck hasn't been with us (ok we didn't play great either but unlucky key events turned the games) and then arguably one of the highest profile managers in the world gets the sack having spent a whole load of money on very decent players (many of whom may not have signed were he not at the helm). New Manager, will want new players when what we need is stability - to make a team out of the very decent players we have got and it was starting to happen - maybe a little 2 steps forward, one step back but slowly the very talented individuals he signed were becoming a team. I judge Sven from the start of this season and having bought a whole new team, I think we are in a bloody good position at this stage against teams that have played together for years bar minor changes. As the season progresses, the size of our squad would have come into it's own as other teams struggle with injuries etc whilst we continue to gel and get better Not now, new manager = new ideas, new formation , new favorites , new starting 11 for x games until the best one is determined, new loanees no doubt, playing with another manager's team. it's a vicious effin circle and I for one am completely fed up ! Good luck Sven! Thanks for everything! I didn't agree with everything you did but I don't have the pedigree, fantastic CV, and experience you have and I apologise for the way you have been treated! All the best - I for one am gutted you have gone!

Ok, Sven signed some decent players but if they do not perform then Sven was always going to get the sack - as in any industry. We should have been more creative, and took our chances, but we didn't. All of this eventually comes down to the manager. Yes, this is the appreciation thread but why have we got one? We had a few good results under Sven, thats all.
Ric Flair Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 My favourite manager that's ever graced the beautiful game. I'll never forget you Sven. Only O'Neill can save this for us now.
bluefox9er Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Let's be realistic here..Sven didn't belong at City..he is a bona-fide BIG TIME manager and deserves to manage a genuine BIG TIME club..which, as of right now, we are not. Sven also has an amazing number of contacts and networks very effectively . Sven deserved more, and how we got him in the first place is a small miracle. City manager is a poisoned chalice..it's very VERY clear the Thai owners have no long term intentions for City as a club..they will bail out the second we have established ourselves in the perm...which is a long, LONG time coming at this managerial rate. I'd love O'Neil or Lennon to come back...but the Thai owners would be a HUGE obstacle for any half decent manager wanting to apply.
Foxhateram Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Gutted, really thought we were on our way upwards under Sven, not sure about some the players he has bought in, and at times we have seemed limited in the way we play, but thats the championship for you, most teams in the league are inconsistent due to the strength of the league. Was never expecting him to get the sack, thought he was doing an alright job here, I hope the thais have someone bloody good lined up. Pearson return anyone?

But this is about remembering the good games we had (because, believe it or not, we did have some) and bringing some good players to the club. Use the negativity for other topics.
Fox92 Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Great theory, tell that to your manager tomorrow morning. I am my own manager. Great, next time I get something wrong at work I'm going to blame my manager! Well it is true, isn't it? If the employees do not perform, who gets the stick? The employee's? Generally it is the person managing them. Just face the fact Sven wasn't good enough ffs.
