Houdini Logic Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Which part of 'appreciation' is so difficult to understand for some people on here?
Corky Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 All you heartbroken fools need to get a grip. He's a conman. He had you all fooled. Yeah, he was on Watchdog the other night.
Guest MattP Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Youre appreciating the bloke for no other reason than he is Sven Goran Eriksson. This is correct. Like I said I would not of got rid yet but the love for the guy is unreal considering he has underachieved. Pearson didn't get this and he did 100 times the job.
21st Century Fox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I miss him already, i feel empty inside
bmt Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Thought he was great. The cut has come far too quick. And to anyone who says he can't cut the mustard in the premiership, watch the derby game again. Inconsistency was always the issue, hope whoever comes in next can sort this out. Thanks Sven.
MC Prussian Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 This is correct. Like I said I would not of got rid yet but the love for the guy is unreal considering he has underachieved. Pearson didn't get this and he did 100 times the job. The sympathies for Sven-Göran Eriksson are nothing compared to the amount of hate spouted in his direction ever since he got appointed manager. Besides, don't start lying about the appreciation for Pearson while he was here and stop being so bloody nostalgic. Pearson left two seasons ago. Getting us promotion from League One and missing the playoff final. Yeah, right. 100 times the guy Eriksson is. More like as unsuccessful.

bluebeau Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I'm very sorry to see Sven go, I like the guy, he's a proper gentleman & could it be that that was his downfall? Have the players taken advantage of his seemingly gentle nature? He certainly put City on the map, & gave us a huge profile across the globe. imo it will take someone exceptionally special to replace him. On a more personal level, he is a hugely popular & well liked guy at his local watering hole in Rothley, the village where he lives. Good luck Sven & thank you for what you did for my club.
Guest MattP Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Getting us promotion from League One and missing the playoff final. Yeah, right. 100 times the guy Eriksson is. More like as unsuccessful. Yes, walking a division in which we weren't the faves in and then finishing 5th after spending about 2million. 100 times as unsuccessful as Sven. Get a ****ing grip of yourself seriously. You would think we sat top of the championship after winning 3-0 at Millwall they way some are going on. (cue "if we had won the last 30 games we would be this and this") Move on, nice guy, great contacts, tactically woeful. Let's see what we can do now.
gazfox9 Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 A true gent, one of the few genuine good guys left in football. Was truly passionate about his vision for the club, but he has been let down very badly by the players (some of which signed for him). All those who wanted him out now calling for the likes of Billy Davies should be very careful of what they wish for. Thanks for the last year Sven, you deserved better than the treatment you've received.
Bilbo Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Thanks Sven. Gutted you're no longer our manager, it just goes to show that even performing well in this league doesn't save you from over expectation and knee jerk reactions. All the best mate :sge:

Callabinho Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 http://binholcfc1989.blogspot.com/2011/10/mixed-emotions-as-foxes-fans-say.html a little blog I threw together, spur of the moment! Read if you can
stourbridgefox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I had such a shock this Monday teatime, That I'm putting my feelings in rhyme. At home all was peaceful, and then, My other half says there's rumours on Sven. Tis just rumour I told her, nothing in it, Then the rumours everywhere, oh shit! No longer comfy, I wriggled and squirmed, Till eventually the BBC confirmed. No longer that Swedish smile, of which I never tired. No patient radio interviews, Now they seem too few. No more smartly dressed man in the dugout, Give us a wave Sven... we'd shout! At risk the solitary tear, will turn into a flood... I'm afraid our Sven has gone...gone for good. Yeah, I know...don't give up the day job!
ramboacdc Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 cheers sven. wish you all the best (y). not much else to say really i dont think he was given enough time.
He's not bald Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Hope all you boo boys are happy now. Will sleep well tonight, bet he's already in to his next hustle, goodbye and good riddance!
paddy Agyemang Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Wrong decision to sack him Infact let's just make sven Leicester's new manager
shen Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 But he won a couple of trophies in the 90s so he must be good................ Least we wont eb hearing that arguement again. Just look what he has achieved in the last ten years. I quite like Sven, but he was never going to get us up, and quite frankly is nothing more than a con man, with a myth of a repuitation. A 'couple' of trophies in the 90s... come on! He's won trophies in four different decades! His trophy cabinet compares to the best of managers. His pedigree cannot be questioned. His recent achievements aren't to be sniffed at either. He got Man City to their highest Premier League finish at the time and qualified for Europe, how's that not an achievement? If Newcastle fade away and still finish in the top ten, qualifying for Europe, surely that'd be classed as an achievement. His time with England has been discussed to death. You've chosen to focus on the negatives, but his record speaks for itself. You might think England should have gotten further than the quarters he led them to, and indeed they were slightly unfortunate not to, but a whole lot of others realise that this was a very respectable achievement. I would not say that England lost to inferior sides in any of those encounters, quite on the contrary. His time with Mexico was rubbish, absolutely rubbish for whatever reasons, I'll grant you that. With the Ivory Coast he was only there for the WC, they had nothing to lose and considering the short time he had with them, he got some respectable results with them too. He hasn't gotten much credit for taking us from bottom to the brink of the playoffs with a squad peppered with loanees either. His critics have instead focused on his failure to finish in the top six once we got into contention. Lastly, I do think it's odd that you say you 'like' someone you consider a 'con man with a myth of a reputation'. I didnt expect to win a tournament, but it surely cant be argued we should have done better in at least on of the tournaments. A semi final should have been reached at least once. He failed as England manager. As said above, it could just as easily be argued that he got as much out of the team as they were worth. Why a semi-final should've been reached, I really don't understand. They got into a good position on more than one occasion, but they weren't favourites in any of those games. Youre appreciating the bloke for no other reason than he is Sven Goran Eriksson. I think his performance last season got people (like me) to believe that with preparation and the freedom to largely get the players he wanted on perm's, we could've had a succesful season. He has basically assembled a whole new team, and I don't care what the players, fans or media say. You cannot guarantee that a new team has gelled to produce consistent results after just 13 games or 3 months. Especially when players like Beckford, Nugent, Mills and Johnson, all of whom are vital cogs in this team, have missed large chunks of the pre-season/season for various reasons. I don't think results have been satisfactory on the whole, but I also think he and his team should've been given more time.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Too nice a guy, for the likes of this club. Good luck Sven :sge:
Charl91 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Why are there people moaning about people appreciating Sven in the "Sven appreciation thread"?! Fvck of back to your own threads then, if it really offends you that some people might have liked him, then you're probably not in the right thread. He might not have had the best of runs, but he never got a full season in the end, and it still doesn't mean we can't be grateful for the good times, even if we did have some bad ones.
FuriousFox46 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 I really do love this man. I'm so disappointed this didn't work out. I really want to get promotion but I so wanted Sven to be the man to do it. He really changed as a manger here, he seemed passionate and really dedicated to the cause and I'm very grateful. As I say, he may not have been able to take us to our destination but he veered us on course. :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge: :sge:
