sphericalfox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Thing is, what other job is O'Neill likely to be getting? None of the top 4. Tottenham possibly, if Harry Redknapp leaves. I don't think O'Neill will get the England job. So that leaves mid table Premier League clubs, like Sunderland. I don't know what O'Neill's plans are, but if he wants a top 4 club, he has to do something impressive. If he could take Leicester up, and get us into Europe, then a job like Manchester United could be his. But this is all fantasyland. From what I've heard is that MON's wife is still ill. I can be corrected it's just what I've been told. It would have to be some offer to come back to deal with us lot. I know what decision I'd make if it was my wife or managing LCFC once again.

If his wife is ill, then he will not be returning.
Leicesterpool Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Sunderland were lucky to get a point yesterday, one of them goals never should have counted. Bruce I think will be soon be gone from the north east, but I cannot see O'Neill taking it, something's telling me that David O'Leary will be the next Sunderland boss

Bruce I think will be soon be gone from the north east, but I cannot see O'Neill taking it, something's telling me that David O'Leary will be the next Sunderland boss The Sunderland job will be available soon, but that's a relegation battle - I would've thought O'Neill would rather be in charge of a team going up rather than in charge of a team battling relegation. Whether of not Claridge speaks to O'Neill more than twice a year is not the point, he knows people who will know O'Neill. He'll know more about it than anyone on this forum (probably).
sphericalfox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Where did you hear that? I thought she was better. If his wife is ill, then he will not be returning. I'm not starting a rumour, and it's not from someone 'in the know', well not that I know of anyways. I just think that Martin would have to have a screw loose to come back to us. I'm not saying he wouldn't get us up or improve us and maybe keep us in the Prem, but I just think the media and bookies (those to benefit from such a rumour) are playing the MON card just like they did EVERY time we shifted a manager. Now if MON does turn up at a press conference in the next week, I'll be as flabbergasted as the next fan. But in my view it's never going to happen.

Until he says he is not interested himself, which he did every other time, then he cant be completely ruled out of returning.
wurmer Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Dont understand why this thread is still open - If it was a Maynard thread it would have been closed by now.
tickler28 Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Dont understand why this thread is still open - If it was a Maynard thread it would have been closed by now. But it's not a Maynard thread?!?!?!? It's the messiah....GOD reincarnated thread....the thread of all threads..........this is what Top should say to O'Neill.... "Help me Martin O'Neill....you're my only hope"

wattolcfc Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 £15 bet on O'Neill to return at 14/1.. I'll collect my winnings in the next week
Leicesterpool Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Trouble is O'Neill keeps getting linked up with every premier league/championship vacant job, if Steve Kean gets sacked at Blackburn, he'll be linked though I don't think he'll want it, as there's no ambition at Blackburn apart from not get relegated. If Redknapp leaves Spurs at the end of the season, then he'll be linked up again but I think the owners there might fancy Carlo Ancelotti more than O'Neill, Sunderland if Bruce goes like I said in another post Quinn will want is old pal David O'Leary there. The list goes on!
Bert Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 £15 bet on O'Neill to return at 14/1.. I'll collect my winnings in the next week Who else you bet on then?
Happy Fox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 At the end of the day it is up to MON, he knows he will get backing financially fans love him etc
Jace Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 £15 bet on O'Neill to return at 14/1.. I'll collect my winnings in the next week
wattolcfc Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Who else you bet on then? Hughes aswel Martin was a free bet and couldn't turn down those odds
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 £15 bet on O'Neill to return at 14/1.. I'll collect my winnings in the next week Think the bookmaker might be getting the better deal there. Besides, I see no point betting on O'Neill, if he were to come back I'd happy enough just from that than to be needing to make any financial gain. Stick some money on Freedman or Dowie then the blow would be softened if they were unveiled!

I've backed City to lose in the past when we're away from home so that no matter the result i'm happy.
yannkermorcunt Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Yeah and by the tone of Claridges voice MON has not said NO yet... It was also nice of him not to rule us out of going up yet... I want this to be true, but honestly Claridge the mad mad gambler, is probably in cahoots with the bookies
flanimal Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I want this to be true, but honestly Claridge the mad mad gambler, is probably in cahoots with the bookies Claridge will have a better insight than any of the 'my friend's girlfriend works at the training ground' type people.
yannkermorcunt Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Claridge will have a better insight than any of the 'my friend's girlfriend works at the training ground' type people. I agree and its the only thing that still give me just the faintest hope he could return, its difficult to navigate your way through all the bullshit on this forum and work out what is genuine.
Leicesterpool Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 We don't know perhaps Claridge is after a coaching role at Leicester.
flanimal Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I agree and its the only thing that still give me just the faintest hope he could return, its difficult to navigate your way through all the bullshit on this forum and work out what is genuine. It's all likelyy bullshit. But the fact remains all the so called people that are supposedly getting the job are either not interested or haven't been contacted. Keegan was apparently getting the job, then he says he hasn't been spoken to. Same with Clark. Same with Pearson. The facts: Davies, Jones, Dowie have applied, and O'Neill has according to Claridge spoken with the club. That's it.
