Well it's hard to argue with that.

As zaphod said, go read up on depression, there's a lot more to it than it appears. Just don't be so quick to condemn.

How do you know he killed himself due to depression. Wish people would stop speculating this.

I don't think Gary Speed realised how much of a legend in British football he really was.

Very good man, met him when I was about 8 years old, just wish I could of appreciated the moment a bit more.

I think we should all ignore the rumours that are going round about Speed and mourn the loss of a great servant to the Premier League and the Welsh football manager who along with John Toshack has re-vitalised their National team.

RIP SPEED.

Some great tributes this evening for Speed. Leeds fans sang his name for most of the game, I heard. Cardiff had a small ceremony before the game and their fans paid tribute throughout as well.

Even the Scousers were singing his name for Bellers when he was subbed off after a storming show according to the Beeb. Good to see.

Somebody on TB has mentioned that some Forest fans were allegedly singing 'Where's Your Speedo Gone' to the Leeds supporters tonight.

Words fail me if true.

We are people too y'know!

Leeds scored during the 11 minutes of non-stop singing from the 11th minute tonight too. So fitting.

Seeing Cardiff's tribute on League Cup show just now sent shivers down my spine and I nearly teared up again.

All of this, including the Liverpool fans singing his name too, just goes to show how respected Speed was across the whole game, no matter what club he played for.

Is the inquest over now? The inquest heared that 'his wife found his body'. Did that actually tell us something we didn't know? I think not, as they said this when the news broke, unless the inquest is still being undertaken.

Nobody will ever know why though, inquest or not. Nobody else knows how someone thinks and feels.

As I mentioned in the other thread, all clubs have fans that will do this - in fact, some of our fans sing about Brian Clough which is horrible as well.

Why can't people just turn up to the ground and support their team instead of winding opposition fans up by singing these songs etc? Ridiclous.

Thank you. Sky Sports didn't seem to indicate that, or I didn't see it.

Breaking news reads that Leeds have named a suite after him. Nice one.

After all this praise for him,i hope nothing scandalous comes out about him or a lot of people are going to have egg on their face !

Me too but I don't think we should be thinking like this until something is revealed, if anything at all.

Unfortunately, heard some rumours that he may of had an affair. Hope it's not true as the threat of it becoming public is no where near as important as a life!

All still speculation [/b]at this point but sounds like a likely scenario.

That's all it is and it's not helpful to anyone at the moment, particularly his family and friends.

Maybe we'll find out the truth in due course, maybe not, but in the meantime people can sprout all kind of garbage and post it on the internet without anything concrete to back it up.

I'd rather wait and see what the results of the official inquest are than listen to mindless gossip which will no doubt snowball further over the coming weeks and months.

It does seem odd that he committed suicide something must of happened to trigger him doing it their is no other explanation, was he depressed I don't know but surely his family must have had some indication. :dunno:

No, this is one of the worst things about mental health problems, they're not always easy to see from the outside if at all.

My dad suffered with depression for years and still does. I didn't know until recently, I always took him as he was. It can break a person down and it's easy from the viewpoint of somebody without depression (such as myself) to say "oh come on cheer up" but it really isn't that simple. It's a horrible horrible thing.
