Thracian Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Beckford will come good, the main problem is that he is not getting the service,our midfield need to have that 6th sense and knock that ball through for him to latch on to. Abe had some vision of this against Ipswich. Becks: Hang on in there pal. I'm with Freeman's Wharfer and for all the reasons he's mentioned. Yes, if he remains in the team, Beckford would probably score a few goals at some time but that won't negate all the failings Freeman's mentioned. These aren't just apparent on an off day, they've been a feature of his general play and have simply been ignored or excused by those who were willing the bloke to succeed. Moyes was the key. The man is nobody's fool and there had to be a damned good reason he was willing to let him go even with his club desperate for goalscorers. The arguments about him being worth a place would have been more interesting had Beckford scored two or three goals more but even then I believe we can sign a better all-round striker and one who makes a valuable contribution even when not scoring or when the team is faltering. As it is there's just no case at all and if he'd been a low-paid Academy kid with no "past record" he'd have laughed onto the sidelines by now. .
