Beckford off this January

Keep hoping he turn's into a demon in front of goal but every game that passes when he does play just leaves you with that sinking feeling, stll here's hoping.

if we gave him a run of 5 games where he didn't come off baring injury to get him going properly, it can't be easy know what ever happens you'll be hooked off after 60-70 mins and can make a player try to force something instead of just playing naturally. And if we actually played balls for him to run onto instead of into feet and expecting him to go past the defenders he'll score goals

all our crosses are looped in with no pace and are no different to the catching practice keepers do in warm up

True and our set pieces are normally quite bad, but I don't see him challenging the keeper, I don't see him attacking the ball and trying to get on the end of the crosses, you could say that Howard is the best at attacking crosses and if we don't play to his strengths either, that doesn't mean we should play Howard and hope we start delivering better balls.

I also don't think Nugent and Beckford complement each other as a front two, and if we have to play to one's strength it must be Nugent's as he has proved he is better this season and adds more to the team.

Beckford has never been a forward that throws his head at everything, Leeds played in fast paced crosses anything from knee to head hight they never hung in a cross, low fizzed in crossed, from open play are nearly impossible to defend and we don't do them and haven't for years.

Nugent & Beckford complement each other well, Nugent is a grafter that puts himself about and can finish too, Beckford is the sniffer whose pace scares defenders and keeps them honest giving more space

That must be why they are banging in the goals. Both beckford and Nugent like to lead the line and play off the last defender, they like to be on the end of things and not creating chances for each other, this is why they don't complement each other, nor the team. If you are playing with wide men and 2 up top, you need one to drop back and play as a number 10, behind the number 9 who leads the line and links up between the midfield and the other striker and wingers. As it is they both play too far forward and there is always a big gap between them and the midfield. Either Nugent needs to drop back and link up more, because Beckford can't do it, or the centre mids need to push forward more and plug this gap, but this will leave the defence exposed.

Nugent does a lot of work but he runs out to the flanks and chases the ball wide, but he doesn't track back to help out the midfield very much and he doesn't create chances for others.

they've had about 6-7 games together when Beckford signed Nugent was out injured, a strike partnership can take time to develop ie learning what runs the other will make and when they time them, Nugent doesn't "like to lead the line" he drifts all over the place, last home game if anything he was far too deep. Also I didn't say he created I said he's a grafter

I can't comment on the last home game, but against Blackpool and Palace there always seemed to be a gap between the front 2 and the midfield they always seemed to walk the ball out of defence un challenged. You can argue that it is the job of the midfield not the forwards, but with Gally and Dyer on the flanks we are not getting any really defensive play from the front 4, King and Wellens contribute defensively but are not DMs if we want to play Beckford and Nugent someone needs to plug that gap, maybe Nugent was told to do that against Posh, was it effective? To me he isn't a 10, we need someone playing behind him, or Beckford, to feed the balls in because the midfield of King and Wellens are too deep to do it, or too slow in getting the ball forward. It also maked them much harder to mark if one is playing deeper.

We'll see what happens against Ipswich.

I've said for a while Gallagher is a 10 not a winger, played in the position you mentioned I think we'd see the best of him but its not likely to happen.

I don't think Nugent dropping so deep was effective as as it left Beckford to try and hold the ball up, which isn't his game and he was often isolated as a result

It doesn't surprise me that, I would like to see Gallagher play behind Beckford and Nugent, but that would require the width to come from the full backs, maybe wing backs, I dunno, we are not really a team at the moment, and if getting to be a team means getting rid of Beckford then so be it, I am not going to say in Nigel I trust but he is in a better position to make these decisions than me.

really hope we hang on to him as we know he can do at the highest level and very well. i think nugent and beckford can work as a partnership as they are different.... i think the midfield is limiting them at the moment. all in good time lets not be hasty

My god its no wonder were in the position were in right now with posts like this started up, hes only just signed really and most people think he should be on 20 goals already. Give him a chance its not like he aint working hard or getting the chances to score, its just that hes not putting them away as regular as were seen him do in the past!

This guy is quality and throughout pre-season with all the mess with sven trying to sign anyone with a pulse, i think we got an excellent signing! Its just a shame that he had a slow start to his LCFC career and everyone starts getting on his back. Imagine what he could do with confidence but i doubt he'll ever get any with fickle fans like some of ours on his case straight away!!!!

As much as I'd like it to, this will never happen. Not in January anyway.

We'll never even tickle the toes of promotion with Beckford leading the line.

If Beckford can score at least 10 goals from now until the end of the season and get us promoted, then we will be raving about him instead of criticising him!

Just get rid of Berner, Moore, Logan, Moreno, fernandes, Johnson, Howard, Wellens, Moussa and Abe. I'm sick to death of dead weight. Paying money for them to sit on their arses in the reserves. KEEP Paintsil, because we need cover at rb, and Peltier has had a couple of scares in the last few weeks, KEEP Ball, because, again, we need cover at LB and KEEP Beckford because if we buy someone like Heskey or Jelavic or Maynard, he can play at some sort of top of the diamond or alongside these. I'm not gonna try and pretend im a tactician or know EVERYTHING about football, but I know enough to know that this sort of wishy washy Barcelona wannabe style of play we have ins't suited to this division. If you're in on goal, have a shot, don't try and play it to the wing. More route 1 play, but more accuracy when we try Route 1.

Am I surprised? Yes. Do I care? No.

I'll back Pearson all the way, he's not going to make a decision as drastic as this if he doesn't feel it's for the best. Besides, after the lacklustre displays and distinct lack of basic abilities that Beckford has shown I don't think he'll be a great loss.

I think given a run in the team he'd score goals but not unless he changed his tune and started looking like he gave a bit more of a damn. At the minute he smacks of someone who thinks he's better than the league he's playing in. I've lost count of the number of times he's lost the ball by trying to take on two or three players when there's been a simple, better option on. I've tried to keep patience with him but he makes it very hard.

I'm not going to lose sleep over anyone who could be stupid/arrogant enough to react as he did when the travelling support at Upton Park made it perfectly clear what they thought of his disgraceful performance, or a man who treated the Leeds home match as some kind of testimonial, basking in the praise of his former supporters when he'd done sweet F.A. for his current ones.
