Salieri Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 If NP doesn't rate him he hasn't got as a cats hair in chance staying here, all I hope is that our replacement does the business. Say what? :xmaslaugh: I presume you mean 'a cat in hell's chance'?! I'll be gutted if he's sold as I still maintain he has the ability to score a lot of goals for us. A good manager should be able to get the best out of the players at his disposal, it's finding out how to get them firing is where the manager earns his corn. Put an arm round his shoulder or give him a kick up the arse, Nige, whichever works best.
lcfcliam Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 As much as I don't rate Beckford, in fact atm I cannot stand him playing but I would hate to see somebody with that quality leave. Why don't our club give anybody time!!!!!!

Narborough_fox Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 Doesn't help by the abuse he's getting from the fans and how Pearson would rather play a lump of lard in Howard than him.

wellyfox Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 Starting to think we are gonna get what we deserve. Ok the owners have a few quid but we are not chelski or man city. Yet as a club we act like we are. No manager has more than 6 months Players get handed stuppid contracts. IE time and money We are playing players out of form and not giving others a chance. The fans. get on players back's for single mistakes. Becks being slated for not scoring. (but everyone say's we need a better midfield and we have no wide men) Attitude to other clubs stinks small clubs deamed shitty little clubs. Other fans get abused on here when they are making valid points and not taking the piss. Players. We wont clear out the deadwood cos we pay em to mutch. And as we are in such poor state wont get the players we expect. And what do we deserve Hmmmmm fvck all and mid table.
Matt Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 If replaced by someone who can actually hit the back of the net, and score 1 on 1's then i'm fine with it.
Magictv Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 As much as Fourth Official has been right about things in the past, i find this really hard to believe. I swear Fourth Official just says stuff to try and wind our fans up now after all the commotion last summer. Quite a few of the things they tweeted near the end of the summer transfer window ended up being complete non storys.
NewburyFox Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 Correct - I simply do not care aboput results anymore. All interest lost and dignitas voucher top of my Christmas list!!! What a shocking attitude for a 'fan.'
Captain... Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 There really is no right or wrong answer in all of this, if we are judging Beckford on his performances on the pitch he has not been good enough, he has been given chances and his attitude was improving under Pearson until he got subbed against Hull, I get the impression that didn't go down to well, and his attitude has slipped a bit in the last few weeks. He is a player that should be tearing up this league, but he isn't. The fact is on the pitch his goals and performances have not been up to scratch, you can say we are not playing to his strengths, but what strengths does he have? I have tried to be supportive of him but his touch is awful, I mean really really awful, it's ridiculous, I honestly have a better touch than him. If he buried every chance he got it would be forgiveable but I can think of him missing easy chances in front of goal. The fact is he doesn't look like the player we thought we bought. If we had to change our style of play for a player and build a team around someone they have to be a better player than Beckford, he is not good enough to restructure our team around, we are not going to change the team's philosophy for him, so he either needs to adapt his game to how we play, or go. Add to that the fact he has a reputation as being a bit too big for his boots and has a penchant for being moody, then if he is not performing on the pitch and a bad influence in the dressing room, then I can see him going sooner rather than later. If he goes then it is better he goes now while his reputation is still intact, by the end of the season unless he improves he will become a forgotten man and nobody will want him. Whatever happens with Beckford, Howard is not the answer.
AlphaMaleFox Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 I genuinely don't get how people can't see the potential Beckford has. He scored ten at Everton last season and his league record for Leeds is 72 in 116. Granted at least half of that was in league 1 but he scored heavily in consistent seasons in League 1, did the same in his first championship season and then went off to Everton. I'll be really disappointed if this does happen, because you can bet your bottom dollar that he'll end up banging them in at this level. Not true. Beckford scored only two goals at this level, for Leicester. Hardly a proven Championship goalscorer...Evidence: check his five seasons with Leeds
Tom17LCFC Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 Cannot believe people want rid after 4 months. Let Nige do what he needs to in Jan, and see how Beckford fares with different service. I'd be fuming if I was up top and had fvcking Wellens behind me.
dannythefox Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 How can we think about letting him go if we don't play to his strengths? I do think we need an INFORM striker but it would be silly to let him go. To be fair to him he always gets subbed or doesn't start which is isn't good because he never gets a full 90mins. We would not go more than 2million for him which is apparently half what we paid for him!

How can we think about changing our style of play for someone who looks so out of depth in the championship, I really want him to succeed, but every performance I have seen he looks second rate, his touch is just beyond bad at times, and his finishing has been pretty woeful too. We are not talking about Messi or Rooney here, these players deserve to have teams built around them, Beckford doesn't. He needs to work hard to fit in to how we play and adapt his game to us and not the other way round, if he can't do that then he has no future at the club.
ithuriel Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 Have to agree, every performance i have seen thus far he has looked second rate, i said at the last home match that Yak even though he was lazy looked far more interested and dangerous last season than i've ever seen Beckford play in Leicester colour's under two manager's.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 Needs a good big 'un to play up with him, can't see a Nug/Beck partnership being a success

I agree with you about some performances and his touches at times but Leeds had Snodgrass and Gradel whipping the balls in all day long for him and more often than not he was on the end of it! He is always in the right place in box but we very rarely get the ball across to him.

Maybe he worked well at Leeds due to their attack being loaded with pace and danger and him not being so tightly marked? who know's but one thing is for sure and that is that currently he is not the answer, Sven thought he was and it cost him his job.
Blueisthecolouriprefer Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 Hi guys,I'm newish around here I read on here more than post.Just thought you might like to hear this,I was talking to someone down @ kp stadium. Today & the rumours are that Beckford is to be a straight swop for Maynard & 2 million deal @ Bristol city & also Thfc,Putting a bid in for scheimcal big money amount.Don't shoot me down just passing on what I've been told.we will have to wait& see.

Talk scene! It was the team that got him the sack. With two good wingers putting the balls in Beckford will do fine.

Leeds>Everton>Leicester>Bristol City I think not! As for Kasper what would be the point he wouldn't get first team football.
ithuriel Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 Talk scene! It was the team that got him the sack. With two good wingers putting the balls in Beckford will do fine. Beckford was his last piece in the puzzle, Svens iceman and he did not get the goals for him. Saying two good wingers will get the goals i can't see it from what i've seen of him this season. Lot's of pace but bad touches let him down quite a bit, in the match he did score in he ran past two defenders and his final touch was so poor it dribbled into the goal keepers hands :xmassad: or he might have had two, that was his best game for us too.

He is always in the right place in box but we very rarely get the ball across to him. We may not be playing fast exciting attacking football with wingers, but we get our fair share of crosses, corners and set pieces and he has not shown to me that he will thrive off that, we are dominating possession and creating a fair share of chances, others are profitting Nugent, King, Gally and he isn't. I really want him to turn it around, but if you are going to have to lay it on a plate for him then there are others who will score those chances and contribute more to the team.
Jimmy Posted 21 December 2011 Posted 21 December 2011 all our crosses are looped in with no pace and are no different to the catching practice keepers do in warm up

You mean against Palace, that wasn't a bad touch that was actually a really, really bad shot, in front of the goal only the keeper to beat and he just lamely passes it at the keeper. He also managed to send a free header in the area kind of upwards and away from goal.
