Bettsj2 Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Cheers to the donny fans POV, anyway, don't listen to everything posted on twitter ect, I thought you would have learnt that over the summer! How many times did we hear that Nugent was off somewhere else, or Schmeichel was off somewhere else, at the moment we only know what has been presented to us, I think at some point this week he will be a Leicester player, we just have to hang tight. Do you think Nigel is taking is just sat in his chair smoking a fat cigar waiting for sharp to walk through the door? I would be surprised I we didn't capture him without a fight! That would be ace.
Jace Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Greeting's foxes just a few points and what we are hearing about Sharp.... Firstly if he was talking to you today he did it by phone as after the debacle of saturday we had a full day of training today and Sharp was there for both sessions.. We are obviousley going to lose Sharp in the next couple of weeks, wether it's you or the other host of clubs sniffing around. It doesn't matter who to us really, due to a clause in his contract whoever matches it has to be automatically accepted provided the terms of payment are acceptable so nobody will bid above that and you can bet your bottom dollar everyone is aware what that fee is... There has been a few snippets today..Firstly someone claims to have spoken to him at the match who claims Sharp said he wanted a crack at premier football and would wait to see who else came in for him....But then someone else close to him has claimed that the rough figures given to his agent cant be turned down really.. I guess nobody really knows, our transfer coordinator Mr Mackay is supposedley trying to convince him to stay till the summer but even as 30 year die hard Rover if i was Sharp on less than 10k a week i would be off like a robbers dog too.... He score's goals for fun but hasn't got the game for premier football in my humble opinion..... Would tie in with what we have heard today I think when it comes down to the best deal Leicester will be most desperate to sign him and offer him the best deal. Think Fulham would be much more of a gamble aswell cheers for your info I think we will hear alot more whats going on the next few days
Bert Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 If people would read things properly, you'd notice that most reports were saying Sharp's agent/representative was doing the talking.
StanSP Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Well depends if he wants first team football or would prefer to warm a bench... Can't see him getting to much game time at Fulham they have a lot of good strikers. Depends if they plan on selling any of those strikers.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 roversred. I think you have got it spot on, i have seen BS a few times on TV and in live matches, i would be very surprised if a prem club came in for him due to his lack of raw pace.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 i hope he signs for us and scores a shit load of goals lot of goals
lcfc_amie Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Might not mean anything, but I'd thought i'd throw this in there. This is the response of a Donny player when asked by a fan what he would do if he was in Billy Sharp's shoes: johnoster john oster @ @dannydrfc10 the same as he will do probably, its time for him to go as much as I'd love him to stay he has to think of himself As I said, I may be reading too much into it, but they probably talked in training today?
acooling08 Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 He isn't worth 30k a week!! Still want him to sign though.

To be fair, it's what Doncaster have said for a while now anyway. They'd love him to stay, but do realise it's best for Sharp as a player if he left to better himself.
Happy Fox Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 I am not really that fussed about Sharp he is no world beater good championship striker nothing more, certainly would prefer someone like Jelavic.
Bert Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 For 4x the fee and much much more in wages when only proven in SPL, Sharp wins hands down.
Corky Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 He'll obviously have a far better chance of first-team football with us, but the Premier League is a big pull and Fulham can offer that.
Happy Fox Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 For 4x the fee and much much more in wages when only proven in SPL, Sharp wins hands down. He is too similar too Nugent we need a target man Jelavic is that and his record is exceptional imo.
StanSP Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 He is too similar too Nugent we need a target man Jelavic is that and his record is exceptional imo. In the SPL...
Adster Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 He is too similar too Nugent we need a target man Jelavic is that and his record is exceptional imo. I'd never take a 9-10m risk on a player in the SPL. And neither should the owners. For all we know he could turn out to be another Kris Boyd.
Jace Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Jelavic vs Sharp do we even have a choice? don't think Jelavic is interested anyway!

David Guiza Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Can't believe some people are saying they wouldn't want Sharp. He's scored goals for fun in this division in a mediocre side, no disrespect to Doncaster, anybody who went to the Keepmoat this season would have seen how lethal he can be even in a drab game like that. Our main priority is getting out of this division, people probably said Steve Morison and Grant Holt weren't Premier League standard but they're not doing to bad for themselves so far. Also thought, in a way, it was nice to see the Donny fans admitting it's a good move for Sharp. The amount of fans (including ours in the past) who think any move away from their club is a terrible move.

Fair enough for that fee I wouldn't bother at all, is Sharp really the answer I don't know but I cannot help thinking that we need a target man and Sharp isn't that.

I agree with you about the target man issue, however Sharp will be quality for us at this level if we are lucky enough to get him

I don't understand stock markets; perhaps someone else here does. Rangers' shares were suspended today. Does that make their position more precarious financially, and would that mean that they need to raise money quickly? If that were the case then Jelavic would be more likely put up for sale to reduce the wage bill, and their desperation would reduce the asking price. Just a thought.

But if they were to sell him at a cut priced fee you'd think that a lot more Prem clubs would be in for him. Of course stuttering our chances and then we'll just go back to offering more than prem clubs and getting ourselves ripped off still...
