Billy Sharp

Staying at Donny could be a good move for Sharp personally, if he gets 20+ goals, a Prem club will want him as opposed to a wanna-be Prem club like us

Sharp seems to me, very similar to Fryatt.

Seriously? How so?

According to Rangers, the reason they have suspended their shares is because 80% of their shares are owned by one person. In their opinion, it makes no sense to be publicly listed for 20% of shares.

However, they are in trouble for filling their finances late due to a dispute over tax. Tax issues often push clubs into administration as the tax office takes no prisoners when dealing with football clubs as they make an example of them. This is because of the rule that football debts must be paid before all others, including tax debts.

So, while not claiming to be an expert on shares or tax issues and just passing on what I have read in the news, I personally suspect Rangers could be in a little trouble. I doubt it will amount to much trouble as a club like Rangers will always find a benefactor to extract them from the brown stuff.

It did cross my mind that they might be a bit more inclined to sell a player worth £9 million at the moment though.

Rangers are in lots of trouble behind the scenes, know someone whos pretty itk about it and I think there could be a shitstorm kicking off before long at Ibrox. Still think we could get him for much cheaper than 9m, attitudes been pretty poor recently and they might fancy getting some cash in.

No to Jelavic, far too overpriced for a player that's playing in what is basically league 1 with 2 Championship teams that can never get promoted.

I can't say I'm cock-a-hoot at the thought of Sharp, I don't think he's completely going to solve our problems, but you can't deny he's proven in this league and that certainly isn't going to do any harm right now.

Yes in fairness to Bert he never professes to be in the know. But Liam is truly pathetic makes out he has an inside source well if you checked out his pic on twitter you would realise that the only source connected to him and lcfc is the one that he sprays over the match day programme every week.

Liam repeats what he hears on twitter. In fact quite the opposite of what you have said is true, it's Bert who claims he is in the know, and he is somewhat.

Aye, basically a better version of Fryatt.

I echo the thoughts that he's a good player, but not necessarily what we need.

I think billy has more of a shot on him than fryatt. Fryatt, for a striker, is really quite poor at technique. how many of his goals were actually even off the ground? most just rolled along the ground, no power to beat the keeper from outside the box. he basically just used to pass it into the net.

And also I've seen sharp play on a few occasions and he is quite pacey, he's a lot quicker than nugent. Fryatt was so slow! Knowing our luck we will probably sign him, he will score like 10 goals in 5 games and then he will get injured for the season. And then we would be stuck with 'J Becks' for the rest of the season. putting minimum effort in on the pitch, too busy thinking about what new bling he should buy with his 25k a week or whatever it is.

For 4x the fee and much much more in wages when only proven in SPL, Sharp wins hands down.

Jelavic has been capped nearly twenty times for a Croatia side that's just qualified for Euro 2012.

Billy Sharp has had half a good season for Doncaster.

Jelavic is a mobile target man and a tidy finisher, Billy Sharp is David Nugent without quite the work ethic.

Besides which, it'd REALLY piss Father Ted off.

Worth £8m on its own.

Were Gary Liniker, Tony Cottee, Ian Rush, (I could go on but you get the idea) blessed with blistering pace ?

Look at the ammount of goals these boys got!

I get your point, but very strange examples.

Lineker and Rush were both blessed with blistering pace. Rush was one of the quickest players I ever saw at Filbert Street and Lineker wasn't too far off either.

Dunno why we're talking about Jelavic on the Billy Sharp section but I listened to talksport on Saturday night and their Scottish correspondent said he wouldn't rule out a move to Leicester for the rangers striker. Who knows eh?

Just to put the Jelavic stuff to bed! He would cost in and around £5 to £8 million, Rangers need the cash, and I certainly won't be happy spending that kind of money on a player who play's in the Disney leagues! Yes he scored goals, but in a terrible league!

Disney League? :o

Wonder if we could sign Donald Duck

have to agree with you there. lets just focus on the Sharp deal before heading to the next

I would say Lineker was fastest player I've ever seen, Rush a tad slower but Rushy had a better positional sense.

Billy Sharp a very good Championship player and would slot into any team in this division comparing him to Fryatt is fair, I would say Sharp is better based on the fact Fryatt would often take him 3/4 chances to score 1 goal for us at championship level. Sharp does seem to also have the ability to score all types of goals.

Just coming on to say this :( Looks like donny are throwing their budgets out the window to keep him as they know he's the only shot they have of staying up :glare: This is bloody typical! we go through the club they agree we see Billy he agrees and now it looks to be off!

Not sure if already posted, not looking good IMO.

That makes absolutely no difference. He is ready to leave but he has a big decision on who to go to and where about's in the country. Doncaster will not offer him what we are offering. My main concern is if another big Championship or PL club come in for him.
