Alex_LTLF Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Forest fan in peace. Your thoughts on this ex-Forest, ex-Leicester player? End up doing serious damage to his cruciate ligament that ended his playing career at 28 while at Watford, a real shame for someone who showed great potential with us (although he was frustratingly conservative at times). How was he rated during his three years here and why was he sold?
Callabinho Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 As far as I remember he wanted to move on, I must admit I wasn't a huge fan.
Libertine Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Had ability but was a bit short in terms of being arsed.
acooling08 Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 I never rated him myself, all he could do was pass the ball square.
okie fox Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Talented, but went missing in a lot of matches.
Guest Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Had ability but was a bit short in terms of being arsed. Spot on. Infuriating really
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Was one of my favorite players at the time, when i went down as a kid. Looking back at him and the rest of the team i cant believe how bad we were.
Ozwin Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Was one of my favorite players at the time, when i went down as a kid. Looking back at him and the rest of the team i cant believe how bad we were. The team that got relegated wasn't even as bad as the team we had back then. Gareth Williams, Stephen Hughes, Danny Tiatto, Momo Sylla, jesus christ it hurts just to think about that side. I've repressed most of the players from back then thankfully.
kingfox Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 I had him on the back of my shirt, then I went to a signing session for his autograph only for my mate to have a pic with him instead of me. I liked him far better than his midfield partner Stephen Hughes.
dobbylcfc Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Never really rated him myself the only time I ever saw him move quick was on a Norwich train station platform when a load of city fans clocked him after another frustrating performance 😄
Corky Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Williams and Hughes in the centre of midfield Did we ever win a tackle with those two in the team?
paulsherwood1 Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 He was supposed to be the 'next big thing'. Turned out to be a lazy arse who could barely pass a ball straight. Overweight pretty boy. Agree, him and Hughes were two of the worst midfielders to ever play for us. We had dreadful players then. How Stephen Hughes ever formed a career anywhere is amazing, shocking awful player!
dave the caveman Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 He was like a non goalscoring version of our current Mr invisible Andy King. I think the only reason why people thought he was good was because he literally looked good. Not in a gay way of course, but he was proper sexy.
Ric Flair Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 On his day he was superb, his passing ability was far superior than anything in that division at the time. He just never seemed that arsed though.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Only turned up when the tv cameras were on. In my book that's worse than never turning up at all. Agree with those who can't believe how bad we were then. You could see relegation coming from two seasons away. A slow, slow death.
Head Honcho Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Wanted him so much to do well-disappointed in the end!
The Doctor Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 The team that got relegated wasn't even as bad as the team we had back then. Gareth Williams, Stephen Hughes, Danny Tiatto, Momo Sylla, jesus christ it hurts just to think about that side. I've repressed most of the players from back then thankfully. Momo Sylla Just so unbelievably shit that I actually liked him - much like, for instance, Barry Hayles.
Kitchandro Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Momo Sylla Just so unbelievably shit that I actually liked him - much like, for instance, Barry Hayles. And Robbie Neilson
The Doctor Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 And Robbie Neilson Yeah, but Neilson's hair was fvcking amazing. If we're naming players that were so shit they were good, then Alan Rodgers. How did that bloke end up playing for us, during a time we were still a decent team?
brookfox Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Went to a Q&A with Rob Kelly who had scouted him for Blackburn and described him as "a decorator as opposed to dominator of games". Describes him (and a few others!) perfectly I think.
Fox92 Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Had the quality but seemed lazy. Never ever misplaced a pass, in fact he was one of the best passer's of the ball I have seen. However, other aspects of his game let him down. I do like him as a footballer though, and he should be in a Championship side at least now. Although I wanted him to play for Leicester, he should have never left Nottingham Forest. He had everything there, I mean, wasn't he captain? He was a fine player though. We didn't play to his strengths - the long ball game wasn't his game, he was a midfielder that wanted it at his feet.
davieG Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Shamefully wasted his natural talent any more laid back and he would have been horizontal.
sdb Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Never easy replacing Muzzy but the guy was really poor imo. Like Andy King on an off day, every week.
