RonnieTodger Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Today was a massive indication of why you should not join Leicester City. Overpaid, overrated, underwhelming. We were put away be a mediocre Barnsley side at our own patch. Not to mention a man playing for the team in 23rd position (also a team that have beaten us) has decided it is better for him to stay put or wait for another offer. So where does Pearson look to? Loans? League One? What self-respecting top-level Championship player would want to stoop to the level of Leicester City when we're 15th and are booed whenever we don't win. (Not that I disagree with the booing at the whistles) Booing every mistake was silly, mind. The likes of Jimmy Kebe and Cameron Stewart have been spoken about. Reading and Hull have far greater chance than making it in to the Premier League for next season and obviously our only trump card is our finances. I'm getting tiresome of waiting for targets, it's now over the half-way mark in January and we're still to bring someone in. I think today will have made Pearson pull his finger out but I can't see why anyone that's positioned above us, join our club. IMO we need 5 signings (if we lose SSL), Centre Back - on loan Winger x2 Creative Midfielder Target Man. As glad as I am that Sven's left, he sure could bring in a few players given his reputation. But you have to wonder who can Pearson bring in that will get us back into the top 6 race? We might be able to accept that this will not be a promotion challenging season and probably a boring mid-table year. Unless we go on a great cup run, then the Raksriaksorns will not be happy about finishing 11th-15th. This may be a kneejerk reaction but I can't remember a genuinely overpowering performance since the 4-0 win over Derby.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 I can't see us signing anyone that will set the world alight. We're not an attractive prospect anymore. Pearson isn't attractive enough, hasn't got the pulling power nor the contacts. Our style of football isn't attractive enough, Some players may be put off by the size of the squad, no first team guarantees etc. We will probably end up loaning a few youngster or a few players who aren't getting much playing time from the Premiership.
FrankieADZ Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 I think we should look in the lower leagues. I have to agree, there are some good players in the lower league
iamafox Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 I have to agree, there are some good players in the lower league Like who?
paddy Agyemang Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Like who? Jamie Vardy Jordan Rhodes Alex Pearce Daniel Powell Etc
Webbo Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 How does any team not challenging for honours manage to sign players? What a load of bollox this, and many others threads started since last night, is.

Barnsley weren't mediocre and the sooner we stop thinking of perfectly competent opponents as being mediocre the better. Barnsley could and perhaps should have won 4-1. They've made massive progress since I last watched them in stark contrast to ourselves. They were better than us in so many ways. Their manager played to his strengths and exposed our limitations. If only our own management showed the same tactical acumen it would at least be a step forward. Why, for instance didn't we stifle their main playmakers. It was apparent who they were almost from the off. And why did we wait so long to bring Beckford on when we were losing? It made no sense along with several other things.

Guy Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Pearson is on a sticky wicket and I bet he wishes he'd ignored the £1 million carrot from the Thais and the sentimental aspects of making a return here ("never go back"?!) -and stayed where he was at Hull now. Life would've been so much simpler for him had he done so. On the negative take of this scenario, this situation reminds me of when Ian Holloway was here four years ago (early season promise under Matin Allen but then ultimate disaster in the end season, save for the present day ending, which remains unknown for now) - plus the poaching Holloway aspect from Plymouth at the time in a similar way to how we have done so with Pearson from Hull in many ways. However on the daring to dream positive side, it reminds me of the time O'Neill came in as the new saviour at the time in 1995-96 but it started disastrously for him too (v.much like it has for Pearson's second spell here to date), especially after the infamous Sheffield United defeat - which ironicaly was the turning point for O'Neill after all the demonstrations against him and Martin George' board at the time. Things can only get better syndrome - and boy, didn't they just! One hopes 2011-2012 has a similar outcome to 1995-96, not 2007-08!!

whitwickfox Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Might be right under our noses. We have lots of fringe/academy players busting a gut to get into the team.at least these will try
J.Lisemore Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Says it all really when we're beaten comfortably by a Barnsley team put together by lower league players.
RonnieTodger Posted 15 January 2012 Author Posted 15 January 2012 How does any team not challenging for honours manage to sign players? What a load of bollox this, and many others threads started since last night, is. I said top level championship players, you moron. I didn't say we can't sign anyone, I mean if we're to still challenge for promotion then, unless we sign "hidden gems", who are the sort of players we're to go after? Read it all before you post such shite.
cc_star Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Says it all really when we're beaten comfortably by a Barnsley team put together by lower league players. Yep, says it all teamwork, partnerships, enthusiasm and actually building a team counts for a lot more than reputation alone, if only some thought had gone into that when it mattered

Read it all before you post such shite. I did read it and I still think it's bollox. We'll sign players by offering them more money or promising them first team football, just the same as we would have had if we were top of the league. FFS get a grip people. I have a high bullshit threshold but this weekend has pushed it to the limit. We've had a thread blaming virtually every single player, Pearson, Sven and I've just read it's the Birch's fault because he made Top sign Pearson. We're going through a bad patch, get over it.

This times 5 billion. I've avoided posting but have kept an eye on the forum over the weekend (after all as a PAP it's the only way I'm going to know what's going on). Can only describe what I've seen on here as absolutely ludicrous. For the sake of the forum I hope we win a couple of games soon, Mark and all the posters that actually add some value to this place deserve a lot better.

Fair enough - perhaps they should start a new message board where only good things are said about the team and the board - be riveting reading
cc_star Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Fair enough - perhaps they should start a new message board where only good things are said about the team and the board - be riveting reading Not at all, but reactionary nonsense & stupid comparisons is nonsense Comparing someone who had a year, up to £20m & 20+ signings and a whole preparatory pre-season to someone here for a few weeks & no other such luxuries is cringeworthy
Trav Le Bleu Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 I agree with Webbo and James and CC. It's amazing how this forum lights up when result are bad.

Dont tar this thread with the same brush as the others it's completely different. I haven't said that I've lost faith in the manager or insinuated that we're destined for 15th or lower. It's plain to see we have been completely underwhelming so the matter that we need to bring someone in. You've probably thought oh FFS it's another thread knocking-back our season. It's not. It's a genuine thread, questioning who we will realistically sign? It's not on the same level as "blaming every single player" or blaming Birch. It's a forum for debating, rather than having a preset mind and dismissing it as "bollox". To compare this with the afore mentioned itself is bullshit.
