You've got to admire his optimism!

PAOLO Di Canio believes Swindon have been provided with an easier passage to the fifth round of the FA Cup after Leicester City beat Nottingham Forest 4-0 in their third-round replay last night.

The Foxes are higher in the Championship standings than Forest, who sit just inside the relegation zone having managed to collect just seven wins from 26 games all season.

However, Di Canio feared that a desire for some welcome reprieve from their league woes would make Forest the more dangerous of the two sides, and the Town boss fancies his team’s chances against inconsistent Leicester.

“Watching Leicester play, they have a group of experienced players and maybe more quality than Nottingham Forest,” he said.

“However, when I watched them three weeks ago they did not really impress me, because they seem to have lots of old players who possibly think they are good but don’t have the right discipline.

“Obviously they are still a strong side because they are two leagues above and they are physically strong, but they do not have our organisation.”

The Swindon players will be confident of beating anyone at the moment having already seen off sides in every division this season, while they have tasted defeat just once in their last 21 games.

Two wonder goals from in-form winger Matt Ritchie sealed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Rotherham last time out, and Di Canio has backed his side’s brand of football to cause problems for any team – no matter the league they play in.

“We will go there to win the game,” he added. “I say this because I believe we can beat any team if we play like we did against Rotherham – work hard, pass the ball and play football.

“What will be even better for us is that sometimes at this level the other team make it difficult for us to play football but two leagues above they play on the ground and pass and move.

“We can go through and beat them, no problem.”

Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham believes the changes in management, coupled with the volume of players that have come and gone at Leicester, could work in Swindon’s favour.

“They have been a bit hot and cold so far this season,” he said.

“They have been fantastic when they are on top form, but they still look like they haven’t quite gelled together yet.

“There has been a lot of money thrown at the side and a lot of movement in and out of the squad.

“That could play a part against them, we have done really well this season and I think we can take advantage of that.”

Fvck sake here comes the downer brigade. If your going support the team and if your not don't start saying they will beat us FFS can you see into the future? If so give me all the results so I can save my money just like all the losers who said it would be penalties tonight "to be fair they will beat us" well to be unfair and biased as an LCFC supporter which you should be we are going to grab the little fascist wvncker by the scarf and drag him back to Italy.

Nigel should print these comments off, stick them on the dressing room wall before the game and that should motivate the players. I know it would if I was a player.

He's succeeded in getting in to your heads.

It's the players heads I hope he doesn't get in to. And if he somehow does, I hope they use that as motivation to prove him wrong.

It's just a simple media technique from him, fuelling the fire, upping anticipation for the tie.

I don't think we will have a problem with this lot.

A little payback for on the diving cvnts.

But come on if we had drawn man citeh would you want NP to come out with something like this.

Or him say they have 400mil of players we will be lucky not to get a battering.

But whatever the score we will be out.

Clearly trying to play mind games, as long as we don't underestimate them and play like last night we have every chance of wining but it's the FA cup he knows that and will use everything he can to upset and frustrate the higher placed team.

He is just doing his job, he was a good player and is/will be a good manager.

We just need to play to our strengths and certainly not get wound up by these tactics.

What a ****. So they beat Wigan at home, (As would as huge proportion of championship sides) and all of a sudden they're world beaters. I think he outta show a bit more respect, as the distance between the two sides in the league is no fluke. They might be playing well, but all he's done there is motivate our players.
