lovelcfc Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 great result ! typical nigel pearson performance every player played there part even wellens was class
whoareyaaa Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Great performance from everyone today worked there socks off all game and once again like against Forest it got us the points and a clean sheet. St Ledger should be took of the list made some quality tackles and always looks calm on and off the ball, Mills looking very good now alongside SSL keep it up! Drinkwater class signing great awarness and good passer just what we needed. Could go on but got work tomorrow Great team performance all around.
Matt Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Another good performance, hoping we've turned the corner, but I won't let myself get carried away and I urge other people not to get carried away because like I said after the Forest game there will be people out there thinking we'll win the league now. There is alot of hard work, and still alot of consistancy to be worked on. We had two good games, two good performances, two good wins, one in the cup, one in the league, we need to build on them and maybe just maybe we can still get something out this season. Sorry to sound boring and pessimistic but I feel at this moment in time it's the way to be, taking nothing away from the lads tonight though, another good performance and win! On to the next league game. (Although a win in the cup on Saturday would also be nice).
The Guvnor Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Great performance, surely SSL has secured his position was terrific tonight. Still a little concerned with marking from set pieces, but a massive step in the right direction, made Southampton look distinctly average.
mrmagoomc4 Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 reminded in away of how oniel had us playing great closing down , superb commitment, sst and mills played well and both players distrobuted the ball well , nugent was class tonight beckford put in a shift,,still think were missing vassel up front though
Wycombe Fox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Sat in the ferry terminal with lots of Southampton fans. They're not very happy. Thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic performance - talk about in their faces. I think we need a chant for Beckford so that he feels the lurve . He worked very hard tonight. And Drinkwater? Wow! 2-0 as I predicted
sdb Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Brilliant performance. Reminded me of old times under NP. Back 4 immense, as was Wellens. They all were to be fair. Nugent worked his socks off again. Now to make sure we don't lose our next 'banker'...
Corky Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Agreed Matt, I for one won't be getting carried away. It was just pleasing so see us have a go and play with pride and quality. 18 shots away to the former league leaders is an excellent stat.
Jace Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Lets put some bids in for some wingers quick before we get another crap result and scare them off
Libertine Dream Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Yuki wanted to be home with his family, especially as his wife is expecting I didnt know if it was something to do with the owners as they haven't been in there seats for the last 3 home games.
NewburyFox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Class performance, looked like a proper team. Drinkwater fitted in so well, was like he'd been here for years. SSL seems so much more comfortable next to Mills than Bamba, and a cracking assist. That cross was better than any of Dyer's last 100. Mills was my MOTM. A goal, assist, clean sheet and all round solid defensively display. Perfect. Onwards and upwards. We should be beating Swindon next weekend. Middlesbrough are in a bad state at the moment, missing a few midfielders including Nicky Bailey (their star defensive midfielder) so I fancy us to beat them. Feeling good
steveherbe Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 I'm gonna cause a storm here. I thought Wellens was MOTM tonight. Unbelievable, thats the old Richie we used to love. And as others have said, get SSL off the transfer list now! Brilliant performance, him and Millsy look like a proper Lestah centre back pairing. Drinkwater has a starting place ahead of Gally for me, and Delfonso looked sharp, although he should have scored. Son watched the match in a Bournemouth pub with all his Saints supporting uni mates - apparently it was very quiet - except for him of course!!
EnderbyFox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Sat in the ferry terminal with lots of Southampton fans. They're not very happy. Thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic performance - talk about in their faces. I think we need a chant for Beckford so that he feels the lurve . He worked very hard tonight. And Drinkwater? Wow! 2-0 as I predicted Your awful record is now no more
Head Honcho Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 That's more like it. A decent Feb and we're back in the mix. Play-offs looking good, automatic, a bridge too far
FOX_TROT_07 Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Was nice to see the off the ball pressuring and closing down tonight. A real confident and team display. Hopefully a sign of things to come, a real good team performance.
ousefox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 6 goals in 2 games, none conceded. Cheers Nige.
gerrytaggart Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 great performance high energy levels, some really nice passing and awareness...something has finally clicked. (played with, erm....passion? )
Wortho Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Great performance, I thought Drinkwater handled it well. They all played well and worked hard. SSL looked superb. A great double over Soton.
whoareyaaa Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 If we can keep taking points of these teams above us then we stand a good chance come the end of the season. some big matches coming up now and if we can managne to grab points off Boro, Brighton, Brum, Ipswitch, Derby we will be in good running.
Captain... Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Was that Matt 'hoof ball' Mills's pass that set up Nugent? Yes but was it with a "hoof" or a long pass along the ground to feet? He was still guilty of a couple of bad passes today, made up for it defensively, and generally played it simple and it worked we kept possession kept the pressure on and didn't give the ball away cheaply.

Wow! 2-0 as I predicted I've been saying for a couple of months now that Southampton will struggle to keep their run of form up, although saying that if Lambert had have been on the end of their chances it would have been a different story!Great team work tonight but some dire finishing from The Saints! We'll seriously have to be a lot tighter against our forthcoming opponents to keep the momentum going..............but top result today
