dave_the_fox Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 I wish we had Pearson last season and we were signing young quality players like Stewart and Chester for nominal fees. It would have been "wwwhhhhhoooooooo???" tho so people wouldn't have been happy
StrovolosTiger Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 Nigel knows what he is doing ffs. If he is trying to bring in a central defender, then there has to be a good reason why he feels the need to get one. imo Mills & SSL have struck up a good understanding & I would be happy to retain this pairing, subject to injuries or bans. I think the player that may be surplus to requirements is Bamba. I don't think that he is Nigels type of player, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave City. Maybe the reason that Bamba didn't want to take part in The African Nations Cup, was because he knew that he might lose his place in the team due to his absence & Nigel finding a good replacement? Can't see Hull selling to City as there is too much ill feeling aimed towards NP. There may well be ill feeling but that will have little or nothing to do with it. As I said when the Stewart episode was going on, before I was banned, we don't want to lose our best players. We want them to stay and help us gain promotion. We would say "No" if it were West Ham, Reading, Southampton or anyone else in the Championship. If a Premiership Club came in for our players I am sure we would consider the wishes of the player concerned as we are not in the business of denying them a chance to fast-track their careers. This is not the case with other clubs in the Championship.
Bert Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 He's not buying a team for this season. He's trying to build us a good solid squad.
Leicester Lass Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 Bid now 'unlikely', back page of the Merc has been changed.
Craig Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 Gonna have some rum. Great shout. Can't beat 'spiced.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 The teams that have been promoted in recent years haven't done so with constant upheaval, they do it by gradually building on a settled team. Chance would be a fine thing! Having said that I trust Pearson, I can only think Bamba is off - perhaps that's why he changed his mind and opted to play in African nations - to put himself in the shop window.

Fox 4 Life Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 This is clearly a smoke screen to push forest in to selling Morgan. Pearson knows hull wont deal with us but with big wes out of contract in the summer and us "looking" elsewhere they are pushed to sell!
Big Dave Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 Looks like it is another bid for Morgan according to the LM. http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/Leicester-City-new-bid-Nottingham-Forest-defender/story-15051665-detail/story.html
Guest BlueBrett Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 Where has all this talk of Bamba leaving come from?! Stop it will you!

Babylon Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 Can't wait for Adam Pearsons response to this one if Sky and the Merc are to be believed.

ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 Rather have St Ledger! i think everyone would but Nigel 'Stubborn' Pearson
NewburyFox Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 i think everyone would but Nigel 'Stubborn' Pearson Why? Chester is clearly a very good player, judging by some of the Hull comments I've read and his performance versus us. He's still young and has got a big future ahead of him. I don't see the point in paying over £3m for him though when we already have decent CBs.
Babylon Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 i think everyone would but Nigel 'Stubborn' Pearson Firstly before the last two games nobody would have missed SSL. Secondly it's SSL that is pretty much demanding first team football, that is what caused any bust up and that is why he is on the transfer list. He wants first team football to make sure he's in Irelands starting line up come the Euros. If he was prepared to fight for his place then we wouldn't even be having this discussion, it has nothing to do with Pearson. He has inherited this situation from Sven. Thirdly, speak for yourself. Everyone doesn't prefer SSL. I prefer people who will play for the club without throwing their toys out, and I want people who Pearson believes are good enough. He did ok the last two games, but look back at the two games and Saints / Forest could easily have scored a couple of goals each had they had a bit of luck. So lets not make out we're suddenly solid as a rock at the back. Because we aren't.
