Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has vowed to fight any FA charge after being sent to the stands by referee Gavin Ward at the start of the second half of last night’s 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough.

Pearson said he was rudely interrupted at half time as he spoke to his players in the home dressing room and gave the intruder a verbal blast, and was then told by the fourth official as he took his place in the City technical area that he had to watch the rest of the game from the stand.

Pearson said he couldn’t wait to read the referee’s report and would vehemently defend himself if an FA charge follows.

"If the FA have to get involved then I will be appealing, there's no doubt about that,” he said. “I can't wait to see what happens.

"I don't know what really happened. I was talking to my players and giving them instructions for the second half when I was rudely interrupted.

"I didn't see who it was that barged into my dressing room but I told them to get out - and that may be a euphemism for what I actually said.

"When I am talking to my players in my space and someone tries to interrupt me and talk to me when they have not been invited to do so, that is rude.

"In future what I will do to avoid any repeat of the situation is lock the dressing room door.

“I am all for the Respect Campaign and things getting back to how they were.

"When I was a player people could say what they wanted without all this red tape.

"Respect is a two-way thing and I look forward to reading the referee's report. I can't wait. It will be interesting.

"I was furious having to watch from the stands and I can't wait to see what the reaction to all this will be.”

Happy that he's not lying down on this. The referee threw the whole game into disrepute last night he lost the plot and going into a dressing room uttering a few words while Nigel isn't looking then getting his Fourth official to send him to the stands is child like behaviour. He would of been more mature if he would of just picked the ball up and said "I'm not playing anymore i'm going home" And ran off to his mum whom i'm presuming he still lives with.

No doubt about it, he'll be fined. If the jobsworth FA actually took notice instead of just fining anybody daring to criticise a referee then we may have better referees, if the FA take the criticism on board and do something about it!

As I said last night.. The FA are the biggest bunch of shop stewards going.. They close ranks at the merest hint of any problems or make scapegoats when stuff blows back in their fat faces.

This ref, however shite, will most probably get away scot free and Nige will have to account for his actions.

HOWEVER, still good on ya Nige... Someone has to stick up for themselves in a world ever more dominated by rules and regulations and one in which most people toe the PC party line for fear of being prosecuted and/or fined if they don't.

As someone said yesterday, Sven would have probably invited the ref in to join in on the half time team talk..

We came out much later than boro for the second half. Perhaps the refereee was entering the dressing room to tell them to get onto the pitch. If that's the excuse he uses, what can you do to argue otherwise?

There is a bell the referee rings and the players have to take the field in a reasonable time.

We were only a couple of minutes behind boro who may well have taken to the field early.

The referee would only have reason to go and look for a team and punish their manager if he and the opposing team were already on the field of play and waiting for them.

This 'referee' is a jumped up arrogant little turd and it's not only us that has witnessed it as the Facebook group created in his honour shows.

Pearson is totally justified in his stance, however he may not need to worry as Ward is reffing Swindon this weekend so will probably be taken from the county ground in a box.

A fine and a four match touch line ban will most likely be what happens, but Big Nige is right! Imagine if Nige burst into the refs room at half time? They get wrapped up in cotton wool! It's ludicrous.

I wonder if the Ref will get any sort of punishment for his stinker...

Sounds like the ref's general conduct etc is nothing to be desired.

Have to praise Nigel on the issue so far. :)

But we don't know if he did ring the bell, we don't know if they were early.

Well if that what happened he should of rung the bell then like other referees do

Perhaps he did and they still didn't come out so the ref felt he had to go in, we simply do not know the facts and sadly probably never will as is often the case with referees.

Yes and signed him on as an adviser for twenty grand a week.

Perhaps we came out late because of a row with the ref

Will be interesting to see if the FA do want to take it further, they are the victim, judge & jury of everything that involves them and their 'court' has over a 99% success rate in finding the accused guilty

It's a sham, they'll close ranks regardless of the facts & NP could receive a ban, also noted a player (Konch) called the ref a disgrace on Twitter last night... surely that is bringing the game into disrepute too and adds further weight to those who want players to receive a Twitter ban.

Konchesky was fuming, he was caught on camera too clearly calling the linesmen a disgrace, surprised he didn't see red for dissent. Wouldn't be surprised if he got a charge too.

Has anyone got a screengrab of Pearson sitting fuming in the crowd?

He will be getting a ban then if he did that!

I heard from work colleagues today that a Radio 2 interview featuring Nigel has been played all day - has anyone got a link?

I heard that in the news bit on Chris Evans show this morning. Just a little extract from what Pearson said about the ref.
