beckford innocent official !

Without doubt the 'assistant referee' should now be banned for two matches and fined his match fee. The FA has proved he was either a) Guessing at what he thought he'd seen,or, b) Taking a bung.

we always get **** refs ime well chuffed for beckford he has found his feet now under pearson but would like to see him put his self about a bit more but ime sure he will be our best signing in time and could be our saviour for this season :)

Cheers FA ;) Now we can lose with 11 men on the pitch with your pityful referee rent boys handing out absolute crap decisions that LINO should be given a 3 match ban!!

The Ref had to take the advice of the linesman as he didn't see it and as the linesman was about 5ft from the incident the ref would have assumed he would have seen this violent assualt from Becks

Surely wrong. The ref listens to the lino, then makes a judgement and the final decision. The fact that the Brighton player exhibited no ill effects whatsoever, nor did any Brighton player appeal for anything, should have served as significant clues. The ref was clueless!

It's good that Beckford won his appeal, but Huth didn't win his appeal and therefore football still hasn't won out. Somebody at the FA needs to find some common sense.

Like most Stoke games.

The honourable thing would be a rematch, changed the dynamics of our game

If Neil Warnock was manager it would be a replay by now....

*Jokes Nigel if your reading!*

This can't be allowed to continue, players get seriously punished for making stupid mistakes that change the dynamics and eventual result of a game and that's how it should be,but why the hell is there no consequence for officials when they don't even have to necessarily make split second decisions and get the opportunity to reflect and discuss, and still balls it up? :@

Can you substantiate this claim about stealing?

He may have had a bad game but on the Beckford sending off he was only taking the advice of the linesman. This is the guy who should never officiate again. He was how far from the incident and still got it badly wrong. In so doing he not only helped reduce the game to farce but his bad decision meant that people who paid good money to watch the game were deprived of their full potential enjoyment. But as usual I see no apology from the FA. How long before one of these guys gets sued?

Nah, I was just giving the forum a mild insight into the ref's past (in spy format perhaps!) of which he probably wouldn't thank me for were he to read up on this forum and realise it was one of his former colleagues doing this! That is regardless of the fact that he wasn't entirely to blame for the sending off, it was that dickhead of a linesman really. Mr Woolmer has made some pretty unpopular decisions at other matches I've attended in the past though, this latest with Jermaine just exacerbated matters I suppose. Otherwise I've got nothing against the bloke and used to talk quite regularly to him at work in Northampton back in the day.....

The ref and lino probably have been demoted or suspended but the FA as per usual aren't going to ahead and do a press release on it. That would be further admiting the ref's stuffed up.

Does this mean we can have 12 men for the last 20 mins of our next match?

:chant::thumbup:

The odds on Leicester winning the FA Cup have just shortened from 250/1 to 10/1

i backed us @ 150/1 pre season... Still a chance i reckon, fvck the league lol, win the Cup!!!

Posted

What will happen to the ref who sent him off then?

If the FA have turned that decision around it proves the Ref fcuked up.

It cost us the game.

The ref should be whipped live on sky pay per view of course.

justice is done

Hardly. The injustice was done and now they are just saying they made (another) cock-up. The damage remains and with no-one taking responsibility. Makes the whole principle of fair play and the "Respect" campaign laughable and it should never happen. Such decisions should be retrospective because it is quite obvious that officials cannot be trusted to get them right at the time and the whole system is clearly open to abuse. And get the new technology too while we're at it. How come officials seem to get worse rather than better?

Why?

The referees in the modern game are now having a disproportionate effect on far too many games. Minor infringements by the players are now resulting in cards, players are being sent off for two 'technical' offences or an honestly made but mistimed tackle.

The referees and their performances are now more important to the outcome of the game than the players and so many games are now wrecked by absurd refereeing decisions that result in draconian punishments for often minor offences.

Referees, even the best, will always make mistakes, that is unavoidable, what is not is that so many games are ruined as a consequence!

The linesman clearly made a ridiculous mistake. That much is obvious. However all these calls for him to be banned / suspended / fined strike me as strange. At the end of the day he's doing a job. He may not be very good at it, or he may just have made a poor mistake. I'm sure all of us have made poor mistakes at work. I know I have. Doesn't mean I necessarily get suspended or fined, although admittedly if I mad them repeatedly that would be he case.

I don't think we can seriously believe that he cheated. He simply made a bad mistake. This desire to crucify people who make mistakes is becoming endemic. I suspect if most of us were linesmen or refs we'd make howlers too.

The FA, however, doesn't help the situation by insisting on such secrecy. Reveal what the linesman's thought process was, and then there will be less intrigue.

He should simply take up something else to fill his Saturday afternoons ......gardening ,indoor bowls or trainspotting for example !

There are 2 separate issues here.

First of all the linesman called 'serious foul play' on very flimsy evidence. I am not sure what (he thought) he saw but it is pretty clear that in the scheme of things any reaction from Beckford was minor.

This was an error, he might have spoken to the ref suggesting that Beckford was getting a bit wound up and the ref, in passing, could have said to cool down and that he would 'keep an eye on him'.

A response along those lines would have been good refereeing...... :dunno:

However once the linesman says that Beckford used his hands or boot in retaliation that is serious foul play and the ref pretty much has to give a red card, no room for common sense or a judgement call.

That is the action of a jobsworth (quite literally) as the directives handed down by Fifa and implemented by the FA have to be implemented by the referee, who will be censured (perhaps even loosing his job) if he does not........ :frusty:

We have took the FA on twice in a week a won both times. It rare to win once and we have done twice so it just shows how shit the refs are
