Bert Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Being reported that she's died. Very sad if true. Another incredibly talented individual to be blighted by drugs/alcohol.
StanSP Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Announced by her publicist. 48 years young. LOS ANGELES (AP) - Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, has died. She was 48. Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear. At her peak in the 1980s and '90s, Houston the golden girl of the music industry and one of the world's best-selling artists. Among her hits were "How Will I Know," ''Saving All My Love for You" and "I Will Always Love You." She won multiple Grammys including album and record of the year. Her success carried her beyond music to movies like "The Bodyguard." But by the end of her career, drug use took its toll as her record sales plummeted and her voice became raspy and hoarse. http://www2.godanriver.com/news/2012/feb/11/ap-whitney-houston-has-died-ar-1682135/
Guesty Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Would seem so, all over twitter and now on the BBC website.
lcfcadam Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Holy ****! You had your moments of ridiculous controversy and your final years weren't your best, but boy could you sing in your prime. RIP to a true legendress...
rico Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 think being married to Bobby Brown didn't help RIP
The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 RIP Shocking news about a truly talented singer. 48 is far too young.
I am Rod Hull Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 think being married to Bobby Brown didn't help RIP Down hill from then on, slapped her about no end....
The Doctor Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Wow. Quite tragic to see what a drug problem and an abusive husband has done to such a talent.
Walkers Wench Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Woke up to this news this morning, i grew up with her music in the 80s and saw her live a couple of times. What a voice. Very sad.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 She used to have an underling that would bring her sweets when she clapped her hands. What are they going to do now? It's the little people that get left behind I feel sorry for
MC Prussian Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Celebrity deathlist, anyone? What a waste of a talent, don't think she published anything new in the past 15 years. The "I Want To Dance With Somebody" years seem so far away now. Bye bye Whitney - should've stuck to water and a proper husband. R.I.P..
sphericalfox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 She used to have an underling that would bring her sweets when she clapped her hands. What are they going to do now? It's the little people that get left behind I feel sorry for It's the friendly neighbourhood pharmacists I worry about.
MikeyT Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 I used to love her when I was in my teens. The Bodyguard soundtrack lead me to all her other material and used to play it all the time. Didn't really follow her after the 90's had gone. But agree with every one here. Real waste.
Salieri Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Can't say i'm even surprised to hear this. Sad news all the same.
Webbo Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 One day Waiting to Exhale next day waiting to inhale.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 It's sad that someone so talented has died of course, but she pissed away her talent and money on drugs and alcohol. Feel for the loved ones she has left behind but that's about the extent of my sympathy.
Rincewind Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Never a fan of her music. Got none of her records. OK voice but nothing special. More of a womans singer. Got fed up of hearing that 'I will always love you' Never knew about the drug abuse etc. She sank to the depths of obscurity like the Titanic the last few years. Sorry about being harsh but I am not going to say she was great just because she has died.
Zingari Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 One day "Houston we have lift off" Next day "Houston we have a problem" I'm genuinely saddened by her passing because remembering her at the height of her fame it is undeniable that she was a superb talent that did indeed decline all too rapidly . I think she became a victim of the worst of Hollywood's trappings . I do and will always love you Whitney the "final scene" that i will remember

Guest Bilo Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 So basically you're saying she did an Amy. Still a waste a of life if unsurprising. Similar circumstances yes. I'm not going to be so callous as to suggest she deserved it or anything like that, but she made a lot of wrong decisions and now leaves a child without a mother.
