RumbleFox Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Hi there I did not go to the match and was unable to watch it as was working (yes, yes I know that makes me a plastic not worthy of lacing the boots of those fans that don't live 300 miles away and have the money to go to every game) but from reading the thoughts on here it seemed Marshall was a bit of a let down for some folk? Now I only saw the highlights and maybe he did not play that well but his corners looked great! Could we finally have someone at the club who knows how to take a corner? I liked the way we were attacking them too! Anyway, bit aimless this post isn't it (like my life, my tragic, tragic excuse for a life) but just wondered, from those who were there (ya know, the proper fans 'n' that), if Marshall looks like he may live up to his potential or be another Sylla? Thank you in advance. Rumble X
jonlcfc1990 Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Marshall was class he ran their opposing number ragged and was a constant threat he really earned his place in the starting 11 in my opinion step overs were a touch of class kept the ball and always wanted it to run forward great link up play also 10/10
davelcfc100 Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 was very impressed with his all round game, corners were brilliant, should defo start regularly for me
BrummieFOX Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 I think 10/10 is pushing it to be honest. He showed a fair bit of promise, pacey, confidence to beat the full-back and he looks as though he has a good cross on him. His performance on Sat was a bit patchy, hence his substitution I think but definitely warrants another start on Thursday. Hopeful will live up to expectation.

beemeroo Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 looked like a 10 to me If that was a perfect performance, what rating would you give to him if he capped it off with a hat-trick, or even a single goal?
StanSP Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 I think you could call it the beginning of settling in. Couple of sub good sub appearances, rewarded with a starting spot. Partly to do with Gally being injured, but not taking anything away from Marshall. But he rewarded Pearson back with an assist within 4 minutes, and then it was a solid performance from then on. He's doing well, and I hope he keeps it up!
Captain... Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 From watching on the stream he looked good first half, very promising kept them honest, and with Dyer playing well we stretched them at the back, but he seemed to flag a bit in the second half and I understand why NP subbed him.
Jace Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 I thought Marshall and Dyer were fantastic on the wings
Christoph Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 His crossing seems really good. Some of his crosses from corners looked like exactly what we've been missing. Wasnt the best performance on the wing i've ever seen but did the job and look good enough. Think he warrants another start, him and Dyer seemed to really stretch the defence a lot more than gally and dyer.
Bluefoxtim Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 I honestly think that playing two 'proper' wingers for the majority of the game made a massive difference. We were able to use both flanks and stretch the opposition. When Gallagher plays, we are effectively only ever use 2/3 of the width of the pitch due to him coming inside for much of the game.
HEGGSY Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 I thought he produced a good solid performance and thus rewarded Pearson for having faith in him. In my opinion, he's only going to get better.
Babylon Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 He was ok, but nothing special in that game for me. Although he caused problems from a couple of setpieces... lets not forget the other ones that went sailing over everyone a few times though!

But that is how Pearson likes to play, 1 wide man (normally on the left), and 1 right sided midfielder, we saw it all the time in his first Spell, with Oakley being preferred in that role to N'Guessan, Adams, Gradel. I think NP thinks it is too attacking to play with 2 wingers. Hopefully he has realised we are strong enough in the middle to have 2 wingers and that it gives more support to the full backs. Seeing as the only way to get anything from the league is to go for it and attack and win games, then hopefully we will see a more positive side from now until the end of the season.
Leicfox Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Does Marshall have his own chant yet, if not what about one of these ??? He'll skin who he waaaaaants, He'll skin who he waaaaaants, That Boy, Ben Marshall, He'll skin who he wants. He plays on the leeeeeeeeeeeeft, He plays on the rigggggggggght That boy Ben Marshall, Will make you look shite! Ben Marshall, Ben Marshall, Running down the wing, Ben Marshall, Ben Marshall, Leicester always sing, Fear by the reds, Loved by the blues, Ben Marshall, Ben Marshall, Ben Marshall.
Callabinho Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 For the first time since Steve guppy we actually have a good good winger! Now for the consistancy part. I was very impressed with him.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 If that was a perfect performance, what rating would you give to him if he capped it off with a hat-trick, or even a single goal? 1000000/10 durr
artursteppe Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 For the first time since Steve guppy we actually have a good good winger! Now for the consistancy part. I was very impressed with him. Maybe Steve Guppy wasn't shite, but he wasn't very good either, so how good is Marshall?
Dan Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 His corners are way better than Gallagher's. As are mine.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Maybe Steve Guppy wasn't shite, but he wasn't very good either, so how good is Marshall? Whhaaaaaat!? Guppy was a bloody genius.
The Doctor Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Maybe Steve Guppy wasn't shite, but he wasn't very good either, so how good is Marshall? Blasphemy! everyone knows that: He had the best left foot I ever saw, He should have had a hundred caps or more, But there was one problem with this dream oh Guppy was far too good for the ****ing England team.
vandamman Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 Marshall's delivery from the corner for the goal was helped a little by the wind because just as he kicked the ball it rolled back slightly creating a bit of back spin. Resulting in an inch perfect cross. It seems god wanted to help Marshall's cause and see Gally dropped.

Not the greatest set-piece goal but they all count.
ian the fox Posted 20 February 2012 Posted 20 February 2012 found the combination of effective wing play & pinning back his opponent very refreshing , plenty more to come from him Id say
