accessory Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 I think we've still got a half chance of making the play-offs. But even if we haven't, what's wrong with enjoying the remaining games? I don't think we deserved or even looked like making the play-offs in 1996 but we did and we all know where that ended up. If we don't make it this year, then roll on a Summer of ridiculous speculation followed by a season on never having a chance of living up to the hype. Our points total of 52 points from 37 games is the same as in 95-96. But that's where the similarities end. Back in the day the squad was full of course and distance specialists who knew what it took to reach the playoffs on a regular basis. The current side isn't.
Head Honcho Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 We need to win 7 maybe 8 from 9, no chance. I was holding off booking a week away from the 17th May.........not any longer!
Mack Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Monkey nuts. We have a sieve for a defence. Forget the stats, we have not strung any sort of performance or result run together all season. It's not going to happen now.
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Its not over until the fat lady sings . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . unfortunately for us she has just finished her fourth album
stourbridgefox Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Our points total of 52 points from 37 games is the same as in 95-96. But that's where the similarities end Well I'm encouraged by that statistic actually. There are other similarities. A manager left mid-season who had promised much but delivered little. We had spent a fair amount of cash, including £1.2 million (I think) on Steve Claridge. It was also a stop-start season in many ways with many seeming turning points followed by dire performances against teams we would've expected to pick 3 points up against. I had given up on the play-offs. I drove down to Watford (In a crocodile fancy dress costume) just to enjoy a game of football rather than really expecting to be in the mix up come 5 o'clock. But...Muzzy popped up with that header, teams around us lost and the rest, as they say, is history! So I've not quite given up yet.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 its over imo.. in fact im unsure if it ever began.. This
1964FOX Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 We have a very slim chance of making the play offs. With the players we have we could easily win every oe of our remaining games. However reality is that we probably won't win enough and soon it will be mathematically impossible for us to finish in the top six, that's when it will be over, my guess is with about three games to go the way everyone plays inconsistently in this league.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Its all too much a case of 'ifs and buts'.... Promotion ain't round our way this year chaps.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 It is over, results went our way yet again and we drew to blackpool, shocking defending over the past 5 games.
Burmesefox Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 strangely I dont want to go up this year - we'd get whipped in the prem and it would be a huge setback. I'd love to get to the payoffs (and yes, I know if we got there I'd love us to win) but it just wouldn't be helpful to the longevity of this club. We need a strong finish to this season, a few tweaks in the summer, and then rip the league a new arzee-hole next season! UTF
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Also this season we have never won an away league game that has been on a saturday 3pm kick off, terrible.

If we were to go up we'd be much better off financially, even if we did go straight back down thanks to the parachute system. Not that it's going to happen.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 If Hull beat us which I think they probably will, all Pearson haters will be saying again when they last beat us that they're doing better without him and they don't realise that's the team he has built.
Guybino Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 we will pull a run together and hit form, but it will be too late.
wellyfox Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Win the next 2 home games and see where we are IMO right back in there and if we get some more results go out way who knows It's all about what way around our results go say we would of won last night them beat hull but drawn the forest no one would be moaning would they That's all I'm saying So we win the nxt two and everybody is on a high thinking we can do it then loose two and all the shit starts again about who is shite. Then who should go and sack the manager. The sooner the maths say we can't the better then people will stop dreaming and get real. It's been over a long while let it go FFS we would look stupid if we got up we are not strong enough. We need this closed season to build and go up strong then the nxt closed season to improve further. Give it up plse FFS
lestajigs Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 2 home wins, and we go to peterbough maybe only 3-5 points behind 6th, so who knows
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 2 home wins, and we go to peterbough maybe only 3-5 points behind 6th, so who knows We haven't won an away league game that kicks off at 3pm on a saturday this season
Legend_in_blue Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 The fact that this is still doing the rounds considering how crap we have been all season doesn't say an awful lot about the rest of the dross in this league. Give it a rest, go again next season - let's face it the improvement is minimal to achieve a top 6 place and when we sort out our CB and CM pairings we're going places.
Guy Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 To quote a classic Lenny Kravitz song, "It Ain't Over Til It's Over". I can see why people feel like it is over for another season at this stage after yesterday's two points dropped game (in their heart of hearts) but it is easily mathematically attainable. I know Crystal Palace and Derby will be thinking the same but I genuinely believe we still have a chance. If it were this time next month and we'd just done what we'd done then fair dues but it's still only March 22nd with 10 games left (30 points possible!) and a load of consistently inconsistent teams still lie between us and 6th spot, all feeling the same fragility and tensions!

So we have had back to back league wins once in 14 months. Now we have to make up 8pts in 8 games. then even if we do that it is still not in our hands. We also need about 6 teams above us to fvck up and drop upto 8pts more than we do. So we need to aim for winning all our remaining games lol NO CHANCE
Fox92 Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 I don't think it's over. I we beat Nottingham Forest, our game in hand, and also beat Hull City on Saturday, I think we will be something like 2 points off of the Tigers. I just hate the overreaction after we draw/loose. All this "Pearson isn't the right man". Does my head in. I listen to people on radio slate his tactics, but I bet they didn't say all this when we were in the play offs. Give him time, this season or next season, he'll get us within the top 6!
KidKunny Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 This is a weird league so expect the unexpected.... I genuinely believe we can still make it, foxes never quit and I hope the players haven't given up!!!
