Post Match Hull

Bloody 'ell, had no idea Hobbs had hit the post! When?!

If we'd drawn due to goals from Hobbs and Fryatt I'd have cried.

Could be wrong, it looked like Hobbs who had that glancing header and Marshall cleared it off the line. Jimmy said in another thread that it hit the post first. :/

RE: Marshall, did he actually save that glancing header off the line or did it hit the post and then he cleared it? I couldn't tell from where I was sitting. :/

hit the post

I have no recollection of anything being cleared off the line or anything haha. I assume it was family stand end and I didn't have a great view.

It was. I don't think it hit the post personally. Doesn't matter anyway, because we won. :D YOOOUUUUU BLLLLUUUUUEEES.

Just got back.

Apart from two great goals and a great defensive battle in the last 35 minutes, it was a really poor game.

First ten, fifteen minutes Leicester didn't even turn up. Hull were so comfortable on the ball, it all looked so easy. They pushed forward and exercised an excellent pressing.

We couldn't cope with that and it is no wonder that the goal we conceded came through our right side, with Peltier and Morgan found out way too easily. And that by Matty f*çking Fryatt.

Peltier had his fair share of troubles in coping with Hull's No. 7, who simply was one gear too fast for him.

I thought we reacted well to Fryatt's goal, both Dyer's and Marshall's goal came in quick succession.

But after that, we faded again. Had no drive, no passion, no clue what to do with the ball. It was abysmal at times.

Hoof ball, sideways and backwards passes, Schmeichel kicking it into the sidelines - unlike previous games.

It turned out to be a drab last fifteen minutes in the first half. I was more disappointed than happy about that particular 2-1 lead at the break.

And hey, all the good intentions we had in the second half were killed off by a seemingly harmless foul and a tackle by Danns that touched the ball more than it did touch his opponent.

The red card was overly harsh and I do hope it gets rescinded. That was no malicious intent at all, they essentially simply bumped into each other.

I congratulate the ref for this bad call, because it guaranteed a tense last 35 minutes and I can't but congratulate the team for sticking up to the task and keeping that goal shut at our own end.

We even had a couple of chances of finishing it off 3-1, but sadly, Drinkwater, Dyer (twice) and Bamba missed from close to mid-close range.

Still, great result. We deserved to take all three points home and this win, coupled with some other results in the Championship today, has just made the whole last eight games a lot more interesting.

Bring on F**est!!

Pretty much agree with this assessment of the game. Not sure about the red card though. It did look reckless. The ref was not very good though all game. Dyer was scythed down on a couple of occasions and not even a foul. Also elbows to the back of heads and he just missed them.

I thought it hit the post. Would've have thought the ball would've travelled further if Marshall had wrapped his foot around it.

It did hit the post, bounced off one of our players (I think) and Marshall cleared off the line.

Yup. I told maybes it did but he weren't having it. I knew it did!

A lot of people have been banging on for a long time about how we should definitely try and sign Cameron Stewart from Hull.

Well, today, Peltier et al had him sorted out and he looked pretty ineffective.

Compare that to the often slated Lloyd Dyer who caused them a lot of problems with his raw pace and determination.

Stewart might be a more technically gifted player, but I'll keep Dyer thanks.

On another note, I was disappointed to hear Fryatt getting booed before the game by a select group of fans.

He was a good servant for our club through some of our darkest times, and with the hindsight of us having won, I was glad to see him score today. Classy finish.

He's still crap though.

Now, I'm no boo boy, but you were glad to see an opposition player score? To put them one up? Are you for real?

Apparentley under the whole of Pearson's reign we've lost 6 games out of 63 at home. Is this true stattos??

That is (mostly) correct.

08/09 - 1 home loss

09/10 - 4 home losses (+1 playoff leg)

11/12 - 1 home loss

Home games managed: 57 league, 8 cup, 1 playoff leg

League total: 57 games, 6 losses

Total: 66 games, 7 losses.

What a jinx for Tuesday

Also, interesting point I noticed.

There were more players in Hull's starting line up who played for us last season (2) than there were in our own, (1). Apparently stability is the answer to promotion...

That's crazy!
