ScouseFox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Firstly, fvcking get in!! Great determination from all, especially Beckford when up top completely by himself. Dyer was man of the match just ahead if him. Defence were decent enough after shaky opening. Regarding formation, there was nobody, players or fans, who had a fecking clue what was going on in the opening 15. Becks was constantly looking for help, Dyer and Marshall (our only wingers) couldn't have been more central, and Nuge spent a lot of time at left back! We settled after two good goals in two minutes. Game settled too, and nothing really happened until the red. Which was a red. As soon as the ball rolled between the two, whoever went in harder or later was going to walk. Danns went two footed and after their man had played the ball. Refereeing head on and it's a red card. Nevertheless, after that we put in a lot of effort an arguably created better chances, especially on the break with Becks and Dyer's speed. One pass from the former to the latter, crossfield, was bloody sublime. Bamba in midfield was decent actually, and he was so close to scoring from about 25 yards after a few keepy-ups! Atmosphere was good, really helped the boys. E I E I E I OOOO...
fox ache Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Great support today, totally shut Hull up...........NICE 1 :chant:
ScouseFox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 As for booing Fryatt, give it a rest. Took his goal superbly, too.
Ozwin Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 It was a red, no doubt about it. I couldn't believe the stick the ref was getting, it was as clear as day. Both feet were off the ground and when you do that you're asking for trouble. The first 20 minutes were shambolic but two quality goals out of nothing and a gutsy defensive performance won us the game. Reminded me of a Pearson Playoff season performance. Everyone had their role, everyone was organised and everyone did well...after 20 minutes that is...
Ozwin Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 As for booing Fryatt, give it a rest. Took his goal superbly, too. There was no need for the cocky celebration, the bellend. We made him the player he is, we worshipped him.
Matt Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 As for booing Fryatt, give it a rest. Took his goal superbly, too. Shame he could never score one on one's when he was in a Leicester shirt. That would have gone horribly wide or over the bar if he was in a Leicester shirt for sure. But yeah fair play to him took it well.
Daggers Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 It does. But it should also show the Hull player coming in at speed with both feet too. In my view Danns tried at the last second to pull out to an extent. The Hull player didn't, he was going too fast. I'd like to see it again, but there's little chance of seeing it on FLS tonight I was otherwise occupied at that moment during the game.
The Fox and The Crow Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Had as good a view as you can get from GG and the red looked soft from where I was. Would love to see a decent replay though as the particulars of these challenges are what matters. Aside from the first ten minutes where we looked terrible, I thought it was a fairly good game until the red. After that, kudos to the boys for digging in.
Leicester Lass Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Danns 2nd red could lead to an extended ban.
Ozwin Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 I was otherwise occupied at that moment during the game. My Little Pony porn in the bogs? I know your game mister.
StanSP Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Danns 2nd red could lead to an extended ban. Unfortunately so ;(. Could be looking at 4 games. We just got well dissed on 606 by a Liverpool fan What was said?
MC Prussian Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 We just got well dissed on 606 by a Liverpool fan 2-1 TO WIGAN, YOU JUST LOST 2-1 TO WIGAN
Dylan Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Brilliant result for us today, a huge 3 points. Didn't get off to a great start, a well-taken goal by Fryatt to be fair. Then came into life with 2 goals in quick succession and looked much better. Started the 2nd half quite well, until a poor decision from where I was- made worse by the fact there was a tackle on Dyer moments earlier where their defender jumped in and not even a free-kick was given... Despite that, battled on very well as a team and held on to a much needed 3 points. So happy we beat these lot. Think Lloyd Dyer had an excellent game, and Beckford looked much more interested... a shame about Danns' sending off- can't see it being rescinded, and he'll be missed a lot in the next 3 games. As with Fryatt and Hobbs, obviously didn't want them to do well today, but I don't think they deserve to be boo'd... Fair enough they're not the best players in our history, but you can't argue that they were very good servants of the club, and I'm sure everyone on this forum loved Fryatt in League One and before he got injured in our PO season. Hopefully another 3 points against the scum on tuesday- bring on the Forest!
Bryn Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 "People keep saying we've won the League Cup... [incredulous tone] so did Leicester! Is that what we aspire to?" Said to Robbie Savage, the feckless **** was in that team and said nowt.
ScouseFox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 There was no need for the cocky celebration, the bellend. We made him the player he is, we worshipped him. He didn't look like he was going to celebrate until there were boos from the Kop. Fair play to him I say.
FrankieADZ Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 thought we played very well against a decent Hull team, I dont know why there booing/moaning about Pearson for, hes left a really good spine to the Hull team Thought DD and Danns look good together in the center...tho they start kinda like a rabbit in headlights. Cant really give a MoM...as personally I thought everyone had very good games. Just hoping now we can continue this on Tuesday night.
Ozwin Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 He didn't look like he was going to celebrate until there were boos from the Kop. Fair play to him I say. He started jogging around the back of the goal before it trickled in the net, fair do's if he was getting booed but you're always going to get that at a club you left. He was the fan favourite by miles when he was here, the kids loved him, just seemed a bit uncalled for. I dunno, I'm one of them sentimental chaps who wants every ex player to stand still and tell his team mates to piss off if he's scored. Show he still cares like
foxesfan1989 Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Glad we did it for Pearson today. Hull fans really hate the guy (kind of understand it) but he needed us to win to silence them today!
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Great performance, great support, and great weather. What more do you want?
Webbo Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Until Dyer scored we were never in it, I seriously feared we be on the wrong end of a pasting. Marshall's goal was a flukey deflection but I'll take that.Dyer was electric today MOTM for me. Drinkwater should have buried his chance and it was definitely a red card.
Craig Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Personal highlight was hearing Thracian getting angry, calling Wes Morgan (who had a fantastic game) a willy puller.
Kitchandro Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Now that was an enjoyable game, I felt like I got my money's worth today. Didn't look promising to start off with though, beffore Dyer scored we were absolutely dreadful. We just looked completely demotivated, almost lazy, there was no purpose in our play and the amount of space we gave Hull in advanced positions was driving me mad. 10 minutes in and I was screaming at them to get tight and sort it out and such. And then to rub salt in the wounds Fryatt scores a one-on-one But Dyer's goal, which was superb, kicked us into life. The fans were agitated by not only our display but the stick we were getting from the Hull fans and the goal gave everyone a lift. Marshall's may have took a deflection but it seemed a decent strike nonetheless and I applaud someone who isn't afraid to shoot from distance, it's something we've sadly lacked in the main for as long as I can remember. He wanted to cut inside a lot, I'm not sure if he was instructed to or if that came naturally but either way I don't think he's really a conventional winger, so I still think we need a proper one in the summer, but regardless he's starting to impress. Despite not scoring today, the form of our front two is very encouraging. Nugent has perhaps been less lively than usual in recent weeks but he was back to his old energetic self today and looked dangerous. Beckford had one of his best games in a City shirt, MOTM for me. He showed everything today that he lacked in his first few months here, bar a goal. His first touch was largely spot on, his work rate was excellent, he was calm and composed in possession and he had the awareness to keep hold of it and then pick out some brilliant passes, two of which could and probably should have created two goals. Absolutely delighted with his display today. Danns and Drinkwater also had good games, Danns in particular was influential once again and he's starting to prove a point. It's very disappointing that he'll be out for 4 games now, especially as he won the ball. Whilst the ban seems harsh, I was worried as soon as he made the tackle and wasn't surprised at all to see him sent off. We've not chance of it being rescinded. With Wellens a big doubt and King probably not ready it poses a problem for Nigel. But Bamba showed some of his qualities when he came on and just maybe he will get the chance to prove whether he can play that holding role. But once we were two goals up I thought we were the better team for most of it. The only thing that threatened to stop us today, apart from the red card, was the defending. I thought we were absolutely appalling at the back for 60-70 minutes, but strangely we held very firm just when we usually get tired at the end. So credit to them for that. Kasper didn't have to make too many saves and we put in a committed performance, so I think we deserved the win. Peltier had an improved game and kept Stewart pretty quiet, but he did take too long to get out to him at times, which could have cost him, but Stewart confirmed what I thought about him, he's overrated. Yeh he skinned his man a couple of times in the second half but that was it really, he should have had more of an impact on what was an open game. I think there are better championship wingers out there. The weak link was St Ledger today. For most of the match he was the main culprit for not getting tight to his man or watching one that was unmarked behind him. His concentration levels aren't the best for me, because he's not a bad player technically and has the makings of a very good defender, but he lets himself down with his lack of focus. Having said that he was better in the closing stages when it mattered. Terrific atmosphere today, which was obviously a significant part of my enjoyment. We beat Coventry comfortably but the atmosphere wasn't half as good as today. I do love it when our players get sent off in some ways, it really winds up the crowd which makes us respond positively. As usual, the away fans made loads of noise pre-match, and when they were ahead, but were far less impressive for the main part of the match. Not that they weren't above average because they were.
Kitchandro Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 "People keep saying we've won the League Cup... [incredulous tone] so did Leicester! Is that what we aspire to?" Said to Robbie Savage, the feckless **** was in that team and said nowt. So did Birmingham, he should have said that for more effect. Fvcking glad I don't support that tinpot lot. Oh and Oxford.
