DanTheMan Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Just checked this out, and thought it might interest people to know that at this point (38 games played) last season, we were in EXACTLY the same scenario believe it or not! Current table: 2010/2011: We all know what happened last year, a 10th place finish - the saving grace this time around is that teams just above and below us have played one more game than us... Whilst I still think it will be a MASSIVE effort to finish in 6th now, if we carry on fighting like today it will come down to the wire!
StanSP Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 We're going the right away about giving ourselves the best chance i.e. winning games like today and even getting a point against Blackpool. The main thing is just do the best we can in our own matches, and let other results by other teams take care of themselves. As good as it is that other teams are stuttering and giving us a chance, it is up to us to seize that chance and keep pushing. Our performances are #1 priority.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Not to forget we had a sh*t manager this time last year..
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Not to forget we had a sh*t manager this time last year.. An even bigger one now, sonny!

If we finish less than 5pts off though, it will be very easy to look at games like Blackpool away and Forest away and rue the lost points. As I've just posted in another thread, it was refreshing today to go into the match just enjoying the weather and enjoying watching a game of football in its own right!
Ozwin Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 This would be a good topic if we actually got playoffs last season.
cc_star Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 In 2010/11 we faded awfully after our 4 wins in a row in Feb, we were absolutely awful as Sven messed with the winning team to shoehorn Bruma in who depite being talented never performed as well as players he rather rudely replaced. This time, we could be building steam at the right time. I don't believe we will reach the playoffs, but I'm pleased with the upturn - which is all I actually expect.
Jace Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Not to forget we had a sh*t manager this time last year.. That shit manager brought us back to that position from a very poor start in relegation last season though
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Last season we had the run to early. And then Sven cocked it up by tinkering again and again needlessly. This season we have a better manager and i expect us to have a better chance of douing it.
Guest shearfox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 That shit manager brought us back to that position from a very poor start in relegation last season though Pearson is a better manager, took us from the lowest point in history and restored respect for the club. While Sven had his positives he wasn't right for this league. What ever happens this season I'm glad we have Pearson back...
Yojoe36 Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Well that's interesting. But Sven ballsed it up last minute for us. Tuesday night is a HUGE game. We need 3 points. No excuses
Dan Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 That's actually unbelievable. The difference this year is we have a better manager (IMO) and we have a game in hand.
Bettsj2 Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Well that's interesting. But Sven ballsed it up last minute for us. Tuesday night is a HUGE game. We need 3 points. No excuses I feel nervous about the game already. If ever we need them to push past the false dawns we've had in the last couple of years then this is the game to do it.
foxesfan1989 Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Need 6 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss realistically. If you trulely believe that is going to happen you are more optimistic than me. Still...i hope.

foxesfan1989 Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Oh and Sven was not a crap manager, he would have got us there. So will Nige i believe but you cant fully perform with people calling for your head after EVERY loss.
Happy Fox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 I think we need another 18-20 points to get a playoff spot, with 8 games to go is it realistic?, we can only afford one more loss imo.
stourbridgefox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 The fact that Sven started bottom of the table and Pearson started 2 points away from the playoffs and we are at the same point at this time should suggest that Sven was the better manager. We will never know where we would've finished with Sven but I do know I have more faith in Pearson to have the mental strength and force of character to get us to finish stronger this year than Sven did last year.
cc_star Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Oh and Sven was not a crap manager, he would have got us there. So will Nige i believe but you cant fully perform with people calling for your head after EVERY loss. Ridiculous situation, from a delusional minority being very, very vocal. They just can't get their heads around how moneybags + big name manager didn't equal instant success, and their ongoing frustration from this fact constantly boils over. Shipping out the weak minded (Balls, Johnson, Mills etc) signing young hungry players who can have the prime of their career here in Marshall & Drinky - there will be many more of these in the summer + I predict the owners desire to reduce the wage bill (although the morons will prob blame NP for getting rid of quality players, despite them probably not ever achieving anything here) What's happening now may take time, if we make the playoffs in the mean-time then it's all good, but doing so with a vocal minority against you all the way just makes it harder.
Babylon Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 An even bigger one now, sonny! Oh look who it is.... under Sven did we get better or worse? Under Pearson, have we got better or worse? I'd like to know?
topharry123 Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 looking at our remaining games, we should be winning the next 6 but there's been a lot of games this season e should have won that we haven't so it is very unlikely. Still, it's exciting that we're still fighting, and 5 points really doesn't look that bad with no teams really looking like they want to make the play offs. There will be twists and turns the last few games, hopefully this is just the start of an amazing run !!
dave the caveman Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Well be lucky to sneak in with 75 points. I reckon we'll need 76, which is 21 points from 8 - seven wins, one loss. Highly unlikely.
Guy Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Leeds away might be interesting on the final day although I think both of our fates will be known by then. West Ham at home looks the other tricky tie - although they've been blowing hot and cold all season so who knows?? Going by the general trend of this season though, we're more likely to lose to Donny Rovers and Peterborough out of the remaining games!
Corky Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 I reckon we've got to win 7 out of 8 to finish in the play-offs.
