Trust me I've read all the books... and up to book 5 Littlefinger has EVERYTHING under control! Him and Varys literally control everything in the Seven Kingdoms (and beyond)! So unless you've read book 6...

I don't think you're quite right with that. Without trying to disclose any spoilers you think Varys and LF have control of the situation in Meereen, Oldtown, Braavos, The North and Beyond the Wall? The twos total disregard for magic in the universe is what makes both men weak.

If I remember correctly, in the books he goes back to Castle black, then gets sent to Braavos via Eastwatch with Aemon, Gilly, her baby, and the bard whose name I can't remember.  Am I forgetting something?

That's not till after the Lord Commander elections, though, so I think he's in the right place for now.

So I was right. He's meant to be back at Castle Black.

I'll maybe concede the fact they are both working in the realms of men. But so far all of their long term plans are coming to fruition.

Good episode tonight, but did anyone else feel like there were a lot more than 100 men at the wall, I'm sure we saw over 100 get killed.

Exactly what I thought, shit loads died yet most people seemed to be alive after, must be magic

As far as I can remember from the books there's only a couple of hundred left after the big ranging. Jon exaggerated numbers to Mance.

Some badass bits in that EP. Camera work was immense as was Kit Harrington's sword work. I loved the chain and the giant bows and holding archers over the edge of the wall. Sad to see Grenn and Pyp go but I guess there trimming fat for all the new people next season.

Littlefinger has everything in control?

His weakness has been exposed from the beginning, his lack of control over his feelings towards Catelyn, now portrayed with his attitude towards Sansa is the very proof that he actually cannot control himself.

In the book

there are only a handful left at Castle Black, but they get reinforcements from the other castles on the wall, and recruit the men from Molestown to help defend Castle Black rather than leave them to be massacred.

I also don't understand why they were surprised that they got attacked from both sides, they knew the Wildlings were coming from South of the Wall, yet didn't do anything to prepare for it.

That scythe was awesome though.
