Jakemoore Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 What an unbelievable team we are! We spend the best part of this year moaning about the fact that we can't defend at all, but we rejoice the fact that we have two quality strikers who can't stop scoring for us! And then tonight, a night where we looked to be knocking on the florist door with some real intent and we couldn't finish! However, we didn't concede, this from a team who have been leaking goals! I guess that just goes to show that you really can't predict football.....I would suggest that our season could well be over now, it is certainly unlikely that we'll win at least 6 games until the end of the season which is probably what we'd need for an assault on the play-offs....rant over.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Look at the table mate it's the best it has looked in ages. Far from over
acooling08 Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 4 POINTS TO 6TH. We're going to win at Peterborough. BELIEVE.
smallpauldj Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Birmingham are 6th with 2 games in hand look to 5th its 6 points. At least we can find out next years season ticket prices now
Tielemans63 Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 I think the boys could do with a few days off - make sure they're fresh to face Posh. It's not over yet!
Raw Dykes Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Birmingham are 6th with 2 games in hand look to 5th its 6 points. At least we can find out next years season ticket prices now True, but it's also 6 points to 4th place. Brum have only got one game in hand.
Out Foxed Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 the disappointment is exacerbated by a good night of results r.e. the teams around us. still a sliver of hope.
Saxondale Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Cheers Portsmouth! Weirdly, its looking as good as it has done for a while. It should be over but it isn't at all. Let's hope Brum fvck up their game in hand too. Bought my Peterborough ticket this evening!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 In the last 8 games we have accrued 14 pts putting us third on form over that period an only Southampton and Reading better. It's not impossible that we might scrape 6th. 14 from the last 7 would get us to 70 pts, which has been enough in the past.
SaltyDog Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 It's not over til the fat lady sings... and I've gaffer taped my missus mouth shut for now! Come on, whether we have a chance or not.. lets just get behind the boys til the end of the season regardless... less of these 'it's over now' threads! Lets see what happens eh.. keep positive, optomistic....!!!
FantasticMrFox Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Those Tricky Trees! Always a massive pain in the #%$nk! We are still closer than we have been in terms of points. Anything can happen yet. I still believe! You should too.....
RonnieTodger Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Considering going to Peterborough. Anybody know how many tickets are left for the terrace?
SaltyDog Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Considering going to Peterborough. Anybody know how many tickets are left for the terrace? There were plenty left this afternoon....
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Far from over, if anything it's just about begun.. Table's looking alright
Guesty Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Table looks alright and I want to be positive. I rememeber a while ago in a thread I was one of the few being positive, but I can't help but feel no matter what happens we seem to mess it up everytime we get close and I don't see that changing.
Guy Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 It's ironic that following one of the most disappointing results in a while tonight (since our defeat at Bristol), that our goal-less draw against Florist keeps us in a distant looking 11th....yet we are only 5 points away from the play offs after all the other teams above us followed suit in being unable to win, barring West Ham. As other posters have remarked, the table's not looked that good for us for a long while. While the others like Leeds, Hull, Birmingham and M'Boro seem to continue to stutter (in their win one, draw two, lose three cycles), then all is still to play for. The negativity on the post match thread was just astounding tonight! All the same, I am erring on the side of caution re the next match at Peterborough, as our track record at teams occupying that region of the table is truly dreadful this season, to date! I've never known a season like this one before for losing to so many poor sides well beneath us (or in tonight's case being unable to beat them). yet playing well against the teams around and above us. We had a weakened team out tonight but it was still a pity we couldn't capitalise on what went on further up the table. Had we hung on to our lead at Blackpool last week and won tonight, then add those two "what might have beens" to the in between Dull City win and we'd have been a draw away from 6th! I can see it remaining "ifs and buts" for us until the last week of the season though
CKB Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 I love this forum, one week it's over and next we are gonna storm to a play-off place! I personally would just like a decent end to the season and IF we can somehow sneak in then fantastic if not hopefully our good form towards the end will see us in good stead for the new season
nothin2seehere Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Put it this way: 2 games ago we were 7 pts away from the playoffs. Now we're only 4 points away. Get in.
yorkie1999 Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 17 points off 2nd, 21points still to play for....uber optimism
Jakemoore Posted 28 March 2012 Author Posted 28 March 2012 Even IF we get in to the play-offs and IF we manage to negotiate our way through it, I do worry that we wouldn't be ready and we'd come straight back down again after!!
Topgun Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Bad draw in terms of a win wouldve given us a massive boost towards playoffs. 4 off playoffs. MUST WIN v pboro, a win would keep us in it as we then have donny at home. But personally I can't see us beating peterborough if I'm honest which really would see everything to be over. Also, a lot of teams near us are at home, but a couple will drop points so let's try and beat posh
SaltyDog Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 I think Wellans may be fit for the Peterborough game and King also so either one of them could possibly replace Bamba in that midfield roll he played last night... Don't get me wrong, Bamba played 'alright-ish' but we lacked some creativity in midfield which Danns usually provides but with him banned, Wellans or King could slot in with Drinkwater... just my opinion that it'd be a better option than putting Bamba in their again. If thats what Pearson does I think we'll see a better looking side than last night against Forest.. only one change, but it'll make a difference
Babylon Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 MUST WIN v pboro People have been saying that since October, it's not a must win until we must actually win it.
Leicfox Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 We do make it very hard, as we COULD of actually been in a play-off spot come saturday IF we'd have won last night and win on Saturday and other results had gone our way which is remarkable really considering the season we've had. It's so frustrating being a Leicester fan but it's definitely not over yet regarding the play-offs as i'm sure they'll be more twist and turns to come. In my honest opinion I'd probably opt for us not to go up this season. Were not ready for the Prem at all with this team atm and I think we'd come straight back down, I'd rather wait another season for Pearson to try and balance and make the team play as a team with consistency, desire and commitment with fresh hungry players like Marshall and Drinkwater who I think will be influential next season.
accessory Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 The dream of the playoffs died last night. This team is mentally and physically incapable of putting any kind of run together. There's no way we will win at Peterborough on Saturday. Nine games in a month have exposed the lack of real depth within our squad.
