ealingfox Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 we scored 6 in a match or won by a 5 goal margin? I thought it must have happened during my lifetime but could not think of a single occasion. All that came to me were plenty of matches where we have lost in such fashion
cc_star Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Leicester 5 - Cambridge 0 What a night that was, thousands locked out too my mate played in the academy then & managed to grab some tickets so we thankfully didn't get turned away.
Corky Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Twenty years, blimey. We've had plenty of four goal wins though.
Leicesterpool Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Beat Doncaster 5-1 last season, and who have we got this saturday
davieG Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 LCFC 7-2 Arsenal Aug 1963 - I was there! We also beat Cov 8-1 in a League Cup game in '64 but I think they were in the 3rd tier then
OzFox Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 We beat Carlisle 6-0 in 1982. Think Lineker and Lynex got most, if not all of the goals
Karljohn Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 We beat Carlisle in 82/83 season 6-0 albeit with 3 pens, also beat Sheff Weds 6-1 in 1986 I think even though we were relegated. Remember us hitting 6 at Rochdale in the league cup, must have been in the 90s because the carling stand was new and we had to play them over 2 legs, first leg I sat in the new stand, beat Scunthorpe 5-1 with a Gallagher hat trick!! Also Villa 5-0 in 84/85 Lineker hat trick on a saturday morning kick off.
Corky Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 We had goals disallowed in both matches against Cheltenham in 2008/09, which would've given us two 5-0 wins.
Guy Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Sounds like a bit of an "off the cuff" post by the OP! The last game where we got 5 was the 5-1 v Scunthorpe in our play offs Championship season I think, February 2010....Gally's quality hat-trick of course. The time where we last won by 5 clear goals in the league though was indeed 20 years ago, as said already - the second division play off semis second leg v Cambridge United in April 1992.........5.0! Stevie Claridge, Lee Philpott and Dion Dublin were in that direct Cambridge team of course who we wiped the floor with, courtesy of Tommy Wright! A very proud night, all undone by Speedie's dive at Wembley for the opposition in the subsequent play off final v Blackburn of course!

Said by me many times before,i was the one happy person of 4 travelling back in the car that night,im surprised i made it home!!Was Gary Rowatt in that side?
Guy Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Not sure mate, quite possibly! One Gazza Rowett wasn't in our City side until Peter Taylor took over MON of course, August 2000. Cambrige fans out in force that night too, I felt a bit sorry for them as that was their big night out and they didn't even have a corner to cheer I don't think! We were going mental in the kop as even Ian Ormondroyd got on the scoresheet that magical night. Oooh Tommy Wright! I bet Max Rushden (off Soccer AM) was not a happy chappie (or kiddie as he'd have been then!) that night either, he probably cried!

Fifties Blue Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 LCFC 7-2 Arsenal Aug 1963 - I was there! We also beat Cov 8-1 in a League Cup game in '64 but I think they were in the 3rd tier then I was there as well. Didn't the Arsenal goalkeeper get carried off (in the days before subs) and Joe Baker take over?

If I remember correctly the Arse goalie went off injured, and Joe Baker (centre forward?) took over for them. Edited because I thought the Arse forward was GEORGE Baker - aint he an actor??
ealingfox Posted 4 April 2012 Author Posted 4 April 2012 When did we last lose by 5 or have 6 put past us? Last season, Portsmouth Away. Also immediately springing to mind are a 6-1 defeat at Ipswich in the year we came 2nd (Jon Stevenson for us) and a 0-5 drubbing to Villa with Crouch and Vassell getting all of them - if i remember correctly, HT: 0-0, 68 mins: 0-5.

There was also the 5-0 to Bolton at home on the first day of the season in 2001. Horrible.

Guy Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 remember burton 6-1? Yup, match replayed behind closed doors, 1984-85 season!
Guy Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 There was also the 5-0 to Bolton at home on the first day of the season in 2001. Horrible. One Peter Taylor! The beginning of the end for him!
