Yep and that aswell, but it's not rocket science simmo.

If King scored more goals we would of probably managed top six, and I honestly believe that.

We will not get anywhere, playing Danns and Drinkwater in midfield, they lack creativity, they lack strength in midfield(most teams will maul these two players apart) and the most important thing they don't score goals.

King needs to hit form, or we need to sign Koren.

Schmeichel

De Laet, Morgan, St Ledger, Konchesky

Marshall, Danns, Koren, Knockaert

Nugent, Vardy

Even with the little change of Koren, that team looks much stronger without Drinkwater, a goalscoring midfielder can simply change things for the better.

Depends on the formation if we play 4-4-2 I would agree with you that we would need a playmaker in the centre i.e Koren but if we go 4-3-3 it shouldn't be a problem.

4-3-3 sucks, it will just turn into 4-5-1 it always does.

It worked a while back but last couple of season's we have tried it and it looked incredibly shit.

We just need King to start and score around 15 again like he did in 10/11 season, or we need to sign Koren who will probably score around just over 10, along with Marshall who will probably score around 10 aswell.

We relied on Nugent too much last season.

The top six teams last season had players scoring from midfield.

Southampton - Guly and Lallana

West Ham - Vaz Te and Nolan

Reading - Kebe, Leigertwood, McAnuff and Harte

Birmingham - Burke and Redmond

Blackpool - Phillips and Ince

Cardiff - Whittingham

And we had nobody...

Not really true mate.

Look at the assists table for the season.

Only Nugent and Wellens appeared and they were well down the order....

King Fox is right (did I just say that) lol...

We created so few goals last season from the middle of the park or the flanks.

The likes of Lallana, Snodgrass, Burke, Whittigham etc made a massive difference to the goals tally for the front men of the respective teams. Many of Nugents goals for example, were made and taken by himself.

Our assists from our midfield players last season was terrible.

And keeping them out was also down to some extent to the weedy midfield we had which was completely overrun time after time when sides hit us on the counter attack.

The midfield is where the main problem lay last season both going forward and defensively. I hope that's not going to be so much of a problem this season. Not sure though.

The issue for me is not really about the midfielders themselves scoring goals, although that's useful, it's more about making them for the forward players. Koren can do both very well.

Oi now then I can speak a lot of sense sometimes.

Sense, mixed with some crap mixed with some humour.

Now that we have wide forwards i.e Vardy, Marshall and Knockaert I think we can play it effectively not least because we have a target man who is mobile leading the front line.

Gallagher's scored 25 over the last 3 seasons.

So whats happening with Koren anybody know?

Posted

he's assessing his options.

my source tells me*

He isnt coming here and the thread really should be closed.

http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-16632701-detail/story.html?

This is from his agent.

"There was genuine interest from Leicester and a bid was made, but Robbie's first thought was to try and stay with Hull if there was a possibility," Stapleton told the Mail.

"The manager has shown his desire to keep Robbie and this has gone a long way with him.

"Robbie looks after himself, is fit, and has many years left in him.

"He still has a huge desire to play in the Premier League and hopes that this new contract will enable him to do that with Hull.

"We are close to agreeing a new contract with Hull and Robbie is keen to try to wrap it up this week as he wants to concentrate on the season in front of him."

Beckfords agent said sort of the same about him, saying he wouldnt be leaving, yet theres still rumours flying around about him going.

Just keeping Hull fans happy i reckon, until hes signed a new contract then theres hope. Reckon theyll be a loan signing come in if Koren doesn't come, Henri Lansbury is steady at this level, on loan. Sure theres more experienced players about but just a name.

A midfield of of marshall danns koren and knockeart wouldn't work. Its too attacking. Drinkwater or james alongside koren, danns or king does work. You need some balance. If the opposition had the ball against that midfield we would never win it back. Try playing that against millwall on a tuesday night and see what happens

We'd win about 5-2.

Matty James was well regarded as the best passer of the ball in the next generation of Man U Academy. Why is it nobody expects him to play a part?

Exactly, James is probably the signing I'm most excited about really.

hes only played 28 games and that was at preston. hardly fills me with confidence..

Anybody can pass a flaming ball, all our midfielders are too similar.

He won't score goals, and he isn't a big physical midfielder we should have got a long time ago.

We need a goalscoring midfielder, or a physical presence.

Danns, Wellens, James and Drinkwater will get absolutely mauled this season, they will lose so many midfield battles it will become depressing.

Those four players do not give me confidence at all, they are far too weak.

They lack everything you need to get promotion, and that is goals, creativity and strength.

James isn't weak and is creative. Based on what he did when settled at Barnsley last year Drinkwater is creative. Danns is full of energy and can get us goals, King is a goal scoring midfielder. Wellens is gritty and breaks up play. You don't need someone that physically imposing in your team, as we proved when we finished 5th under Nigel.

I stopped reading there.

In football terms anybody can pass a ball.

Not on about five year olds playing in a park.

Yep but we managed to score goals from midfield that season in Andy King.

Since then King has stopped scoring, Wellens has got worse and Drinkwater hasn't offered anything like he did when at Barnsley.

Therefore that's why I think the midfield will get mauled this season, they are just not good enough.

You're amazing. 15 goals, our top scorer the season after, and he has stopped scoring, brilliant. One injury hit season doesn't mean he doesn't know how to score anymore, you make it sound like he's forgotten how to tie his shoelaces. He had an injury and never really got a sustained run in the team because of it (If memory serves me correct), but he's only 23, he hasn't just lost it.
