My last season?

How can being 'a true supporter' mean that you don't shell out shitloads, whilst supporting the team through thick and thin, even if they are shit?

Do you mean that 'true supporters' can be such even if they choose not to pay and not go to see City?

Or am I reading you wrongly?

How much you spend on following a team does not define how much you support them, a season ticket holder who buys all the latest shirts and goes to every game and spends the whole time bitching and moaning and abusing the players, is less of a fan than someone who can only get to a few games a season because of money, work, location but when they do sing their hearts out and get behind the team.

As soon as we stop equating spending a fortune on the club as being a "true" fan, and this is true of all fans of all clubs, and start actually evaluating whether it is worth the money, we will stopped being ripped off left right and centre.

I would suggest that the thread may well represent a sign of the economic times, in terms of having to make ends meet.

I've followed City for 35 years and consider myself to be a true fan, but there is no way I'd be able to afford a season ticket if I had to pay the full price. That's just a reality for me and I wonder if it might be for quite a few others at present.

When I see big families taking down all their kids etc Im always amazed that they can afford it.

I love my football but if I didn't have the dosh I wouldn't have the dosh!

Finally, I think what the club has done to students in terms of season ticket price increases is disgusting.

Students are running up massive debts anyway without having to pay out more to support their team.

I'm with Webbo... Starting to fall slightly out of love with the whole thing... Just a bit anyway.

That's what I thought you meant, thanks for clarifying and I'm with you on that.

For me it's nothing to do with the performance of the team. It's partly the money it costs, partly sick of listening to the idiots around me moaning everytime Gallagher/Wellens/this week's scapegoat touches the ball but mainly due to me losing a bit of love for the game.

Money is not the main issue for me, attending a football match has changed too much for me.

In no particular order

I want to see the return of unreserved seating

Pay on the gate

Games finishing with 22 players on the pitch and not having been sent off for two minor incidents

No goal music, preferably no drum but I can live with that.

Standing areas

Less stewards seemingly set up to prevent people enjoying themselves rather than being there to help

Players staying for more than a blink of an eye, when we played Hull 10 of our players had been with us for less then 10 months, 2 of theirs had played more games for us. I simply have no rapport with the players they are all strangers to me.

More games on a Saturday preferably one at home the next away then home and so on playing everyone else in the league in the 1st half of the season and repeat in the 2nd half.

Restricting the availability of loans with emergency loans being just that an emergency not a way to get around the restrictions

A proper reserve league played at the KP so that you get to know up coming players

Reduced ticket prices, reduced player wages, better financial controls which we maybe getting but I suspect unless player's wages are controlled that will mean high match fees.

When I go to away games I don't want to feel like I'm a criminal with excessive steward and police presence, the Peterboro' game was extremely oppressive.

There's probably more.

I've not had a season ticket since the birth of my daughter 9 years ago. I can't justify the cost, not only for the ticket but the match day experience, petrol and the amount of time it takes from my life.

I've lost interest recently having been an avid supporter for years and have even spent less time on this forum staying updated with the latest news.

All this coupled with the fact I've had Sky TV for the past three years and have access to all manner of footbaLL 24 / 7 means I'm now more of a casual fan.

I still support Leicester, I'm just no longer die hard. Maybe it has something to do with the style of play we adapt, I like to watch football not 11 blokes play kick and chase or kick lumps out of each other!

Ha! I'll have to put that in the inventions topic.

On their own they're probably minor things but they've gradually eroded the spontaneity, pleasure, fun and sheer excitement of attending a match so that we've become so reliable on the game itself providing it and it rarely does.

Unreserved seating - how long ago was that ?

Pay on the gate - come on so many alternatives nowadays.

Sending offs improve the referees. We have had a lot of inexperienced officials this year. However, lets have less opportunity its the players responsibility.

Lets have a vote for goal music. Not sure you'll win.

Standing areas - not sure but if it doesn't lead to 70's problems again worth experimenting with.

More Saturday games - if we have a season like the last we will have.

Stewards ? You need examples of this affecting you.

Player rapport - this season has been exceptional for Sven signings who were not here for the club or weren't until Pearson arrived. Not necessarily a big problem.

Really I think you are a case in point for giving it a rest - there will not be improvements without fans. Some have a good experience and have to believe the team will get it right soon.

I think the issue for me is the cheating. I'm not one for loads of technology but I can see a case for behavioral reviews or whatever they are called being done after the games.

Yes, that should definitely be on my list.

Davie G is bang on. It's just an horrific list of underlying issues ruining every football supporters experience. My feelings are well documented on the King Shower stadium and this feeling of disinterest has led me straight into the arms of Stevenage a club with proper terracing, 6 stewards for the entire ground, pay on the door right around the corner from my house.

As many will know the season City spent in League 1 I missed very few games home or away and it was the best season I've had as a city fan. Loved it. Proper grounds, proper away support a proper season. The home games niggled at me, the silence the ambivalence the chelsea ****ing dagger. But the away games carried it through. Then the Champiohship came and it was identikit away grounds and the Ricoh Arena and I lost interest again. Quickly. I'd genuinely rather follow the City scores on Ceefax at the minute than to struggle my way through 90 minutes at Elland Road for £40 a ticket plus travel.

This season I went to see Stevenage Vs Rochdale and stood on the terrace with a mate. The atmosphere was back, the banter, the passion. I'm hooked again. And 90% of the Stevenage team have been together since they were in the Conference 4 years ago.

What has the elapsed time do with wanting something?

So what if there are alternatives to paying most of them require more effort and in my experience cock ups and frustrations, why can't on the gate still be allowed we let way fans pay on the gate.

Unreserved seating allows regular attendees to seat with their limited attendee friends and increases the chance of a better atmosphere.

There are far too many sendings off for silly little reasons I believe refs should be doing all they can to keep 22 players on the pitch not look for every opportunity to wave a yellow card it's a cop out to good refereeing.

We've not had a settled team for years.

I find the the over use of police and stewards and their attitude towards fans as in guilty because you're a football fan intimidating and oppressive that's how it affects me and removes some of the joy from watching the game

I didn't just pluck these out of my head for nostalgic reasons they all have contributed to the declining enjoyment and excitement one gets from going to a game you use to be able to get pleasure from attending and from the game, if the game was crap well you'd still had a good day out now if the game is crap there's nothing else let to enjoy.

Gotta say I feel quite similar to the original poster.

I didn't bother with the last 2 home games, just couldn't be bothered and it wasn't all down to us having nothing to play for or a poor, underachieving season because i've felt like it for most, if not all of the season, for some reason it has been a really effort for me this season, it's been more of a chore to go to home games and I havn't been to all that many away games either. Obviously the poor season and underachieving has played a big factor but I don't put it all down to that I don't know just feel like my passion and excitment for it has died a little bit.

I've not renewed yet but I think i'll give it another season, see what happens, hopefully it'll be a more enjoyable season next season (Probably not) and if I still feel the same after another season it may be time to call it a day and just pick and choose certain games or even just go to away games - Although I know what would happen, i'd end up going to alot of games and may aswell have bought a season ticket no doubt.

I think there are quite a few people feeling like this aswell, but many (like me) have the attitude - What else would you do on a Saturday afternoon? I'm sure you'd find things to do, save more money but having done it for so many years it's almost like a way of life, that sounds a little sad but it's true really.

Whether I stop going or not i'll always support Leicester and i'll never turn my back on them compleatly but like I said it's been hard this season, almost like a chore to go to games.

Saturday afternoons? I seem to be going to more Tuesday/Wednesday night games and of course the Monday night one maybe thats part of the problem once upon a time we knew where we were going to be at 3pm on a saturday afternoon but now we can be just as likely shopping.

The problem is is with players costing millions in transfer fees and £100ks per week in wages clubs cannot afford to have players not playing because of broken legs and other injuries.

Part of the excitement of the game is seeing a crunching tackle (no puns please) but it shouldn't be necessary to risk permanent injury to earn a living.

Absolutely no reason to justify your previous post, it was (and is backed up by this one) spot on.

Can you read? If so read my post again! I don't need tossers like you coming on here if you are not capable of reading someones posting correctly!

I have been a paying supporter of City for 35 or 36 years, how long have you been paying to watch them?

It's because of assholes like you that I stopped posting on the forum. I thought I would give it another try, but I don't know why I bothered . What is the point of attempting to have a serious posting when such as you come along with such stupid comments as above?
