21st Century Fox Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 I get annoyed with all the McHatred. I'm not referring specifically to any posts on here, more to the general feeling of disdain towards McDonalds They are a big company who have grown due to immense popularity thanks to offering tasty, relatively cheap, fast food in countless convenient locations. Get over it. It's not amazing quality (it's cheap fast food) and it's not healthy for you if eaten too regularly (it's cheap fast food). Not to mention the fact that they employ a vast number of people in this country and create thousands more jobs in the supply chain. I'm Lovin' It And they target children with their marketing.

I'm Lovin' It not saying I speak for every one at all, they must be popular or they wouldn't still be here, just not to my liking. and i do accept that they have created thousands of jobs, you are right in pointing that out. But what I do challenge is 'tasty', don't think so!!
SystonFox Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 Never had a MacDonald's. I hope you can keep it that way bert. Vile
Tielemans63 Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 I'm generally averse to fast food - I find McD's and BK especially disgusting. Got a real weakness for KFC though. I know it's terrible stuff but tastes amazing! Don't have one very often though - maybe once a month. Although last time I went, to KFC in Kettering, they'd run out of chicken - I kid you not.
Saxondale Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 Although last time I went, to KFC in Kettering, they'd run out of chicken - I kid you not. Brilliant! Out of interest, did you order some sort of non-chicken alternative or leave without food?
Tielemans63 Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 Brilliant! Out of interest, did you order some sort of non-chicken alternative or leave without food? I had to leave empty-handed! The guy at the drive-through, completely stoney-faced said "we've got loads of fries if you want some of those?"
Jaspa Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 I had to leave empty-handed! The guy at the drive-through, completely stoney-faced said "we've got loads of fries if you want some of those?" KFC have the worst fries Burger King wins, with MacyDeez second There seem to be more and more healthier options around nowadays, so burger & fries is a last resort
Rincewind Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 Not been in McDonalds for years. What put me off was how the burger comes ready packed in the bun complete with gallons of tomato sauce girkin and other stuff. But the staff there... Burger Love her quarter-pounder eyes edged with charcoal coaxed me inside. her round succulent body i savoured hungrily, as from table to table she rolled. a small gherkin green nose sat on lips of tomato sauce surrounded by a cheesy smile. as my fingers touched i knew it was burger love.
MPH Posted 23 May 2012 Posted 23 May 2012 This seems like an entirely appropriate time to bring this video up again....

Captain... Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 I get annoyed with all the McHatred. Not to mention the fact that they employ a vast number of people in this country and create thousands more jobs in the supply chain. I'm Lovin' It You make some valid points, except taste, that is a matter of...erm...taste. Personally I don't like the taste of the burgers, I would always have the chicken one when I went, (which was many years ago). Part of my dislike is a general dislike for all of this fast food, ready meal culture, why have proper food when you can get a cheap, unhealthy, processed alternative much faster. It is not exactly difficult, expensive, or even that time consuming to cook burger and chips at home and it is immeasurably nicer and healthier, and hasn't been handled by some spotty unclean teen with no real understanding of hygiene (apart from yourself). My other issue with McDonalds is their agressive, yet successful, marketing strategy, they are everywhere and sponsor everything, the irony of McDonalds sponsoring sporting events is not lost on people, yet we lap it up, like coke, I would hate them much less if they didn't relentlessly shove it down your throat and, as has already been mentioned, target children. If you had never heard or tried McDonalds or Coke and were asked to try it, I am sure that you wouldn't think it was tasty, it is popular because advertising and marketing works, and they have a massive budget because without it their products would be exposed as shite. Yes they employ a lot of people, but most often they are teenagers which don't qualify for minimum wage, I also will confidently predict that, if they aren't already, they will be the first place to offer automated ordering, cooking and distributing facilities, the only job you will need is someone to load the burgers and buns into the machine. (Having had a burger from a vending machine before, we can't be that far away from this.

Ken this genuinely has to go down as one of your finest moments on this forum.
Rincewind Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 I think they already have automated hamburgers. It may just selecting what you want and bunging it in a microwave but I have come across it. I don't really like McDonalds burgers. I find them too small. I sometimes get the quarter pound packs in supermarkets and as it has been said it doesn't take long in a griller machine. Also the chips are too thin and tasteless. That goes for all the fast food chains. But I must admit I still buy them after leaving a pub at night. There must be something about beer that turns you into a fastfoodolic.
21st Century Fox Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 One of the most depressing things I've ever seen was the McDonalds on the Getreidegasse in Salzburg. All the shops have to conform to the same aesthetics to preserve the historical nature of the street where Mozart was born.
Rincewind Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 Ken this genuinely has to go down as one of your finest moments on this forum. Thank you if that was a compliment. It's one of the poems in my book and written as a cynical dig at fast food chains. At the time of writing I just had the idea of comparing a burger with a real person but not everyone has the same thought process as me. I think it was having all the ingredients slapped into the burger without being asked. I don't mind tomato sauce and mustard on but it would be nice to be asked how much of it I wanted.
Zingari Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 i wonder if they give them special names in there , like string quartet burger
21st Century Fox Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 i wonder if they give them special names in there , like string quartet burger I'd imagine they're about as imaginative as they usually are McMozart Meal or McSymphony Shake.
Zingari Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 I'd imagine they're about as imaginative as they usually are McMozart Meal or McSymphony Shake. cosi fan tuti fruiti milkshakes ?
21st Century Fox Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 cosi fan tuti fruiti milkshakes ? I see what you did there. (With a little help from Squeeze) Oh no this has gone down that path hasn't it!! This is going to become a pun thread, it's inevitable.

This depressed me when I saw it in thailand: Also the McDonalds near Loughborough with the mock tudor exterior, very depressing, I can't find a photo of it, I may have to use google maps.
Rincewind Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 Dare I mention the All-over Twist fries or What the Chicken nuggets?
Captain... Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 Awful. That's the one, I think, there are at least a couple of others around the country, nice skid marks outside, obvisouly people craning their necks to get a better look at this monstrosity and nearly having an accident.
