Macdonalds

I'd like to believe that McDonald's has realized in recent years that they can no longer just sell fast food, so they changed the menu, added a new, fresh style to their outlets in order to be perceived "healthier". They've also expanded their range, so you can now get salads, fruits and vegetables separately.

Their Prime Chicken Burgers they offered up until a few weeks back were delicious - better buns, good salad.

I don't mind fast food joints, occasionally it's just a case of eating something there when I don't feel like cooking for myself or when I'm somewhere on the go and need a quick dinner (say in between connecting trains at the train station).

Besides, there's tons of other burger places you can go to that offer higher-quality products - one of the best burgers I've ever had was at Fatburger in Vancouver (they solely operate on the West Coast). Triple O's was also excellent. You get food that's more fresh, partly local and it's all being created and cooked right on the spot.

Macdonalds, huh?

Not Windowsdonalds, oh no, because there you'd get a burger a bit cheaper but the packaging wouldn't open properly, the chips would break and the drink would be full of viruses. It would look like a brick on the table and you'd not be able to enjoy it for all of the continuous updates from the kitchen.

As opposed to linuxdonalds, where you go into the kitchen and cook it yourself.

Not alone - there'll be at least five other spotty, bespectacled, girlfriendless virgins all claiming their sandwich can be packed in a lunchbox quicker and has a greater nutritional value.

Quartet pounder?

with extra piccolo

Yes that's the spirit :D

The Burger of Seville ?

The Magic Mcflutey ?

Eine Kliene Nacho muesli for brekkie ?

I’m sure they could do a whole Mozart themed menu if they really tried :)

In all fairness we're not too bad off for fast food in this country - you're never too far away from a small independent take-away that uses actual beef in their burgers.

I don't like judging by appearances but she doesn't look the sort wh would be 'disgusted' by it. A sweet old granny maybe but she looks as if she knows what a penis is for.

How dare you speak of 'Kylie' like that, ;) .

I like the way the box seems to have a message on the inside along the lines of 'if not 100 per cent satisfied we're happy to replace it'.

'Yes, please, I'd like another one but this time without a cock in it thanks. Or maybe just a pair of boobs'

One of her kids drew it when she wasn't looking.

I like the comment that says if she is scared of a picture I hope her husband never turns the light on in the bedroom.

Has she got her name on her jumper so she doesn't forget it?

Wouldn't surprise me if she hadn't upset the staff on a regular basis. Or maybe she asked one of them for a photo of themselves.

You make some valid points, except taste, that is a matter of...erm...taste.

Personally I don't like the taste of the burgers, I would always have the chicken one when I went, (which was many years ago).

Part of my dislike is a general dislike for all of this fast food, ready meal culture, why have proper food when you can get a cheap, unhealthy, processed alternative much faster. It is not exactly difficult, expensive, or even that time consuming to cook burger and chips at home and it is immeasurably nicer and healthier, and hasn't been handled by some spotty unclean teen with no real understanding of hygiene (apart from yourself).

My other issue with McDonalds is their agressive, yet successful, marketing strategy, they are everywhere and sponsor everything, the irony of McDonalds sponsoring sporting events is not lost on people, yet we lap it up, like coke, I would hate them much less if they didn't relentlessly shove it down your throat and, as has already been mentioned, target children. If you had never heard or tried McDonalds or Coke and were asked to try it, I am sure that you wouldn't think it was tasty, it is popular because advertising and marketing works, and they have a massive budget because without it their products would be exposed as shite.

Yes they employ a lot of people, but most often they are teenagers which don't qualify for minimum wage, I also will confidently predict that, if they aren't already, they will be the first place to offer automated ordering, cooking and distributing facilities, the only job you will need is someone to load the burgers and buns into the machine. (Having had a burger from a vending machine before, we can't be that far away from this.

Taste is subjective, obviously. I enjoy fine foods but I also enjoy a McBurger now and then. I don't kid myself that it's haute cuisine but I take it for what it is and enjoy it a lot.

The healthy alternatives are there, but people choose Maccy's above them in many cases. They do this because they enjoy it.

Regarding the marketing - they are a massive company so of course they're going to do marketing. Most of their marketing is just centred around informing people about new products, which is necessary and harmless. Yes they do huge corporate sponsorship deals (Olympics etc) but that's what large multinational businesses do. Of course they're going to market to children as they make up a substantial proportion of their core demographic.

As for the jobs, you wouldn't expect them to pay top whack. If their pay was inadequate, nobody would work there. The bigger problem is fussy fvckers who consider themselves 'above' working in McDonalds and look down on the people that do. Further to this, they are widely acknowledged as being a very good employer with ample opportunity for training, development and promotion.

They could barely be any more transparent if they tried. In every outlet, the prices and even now the calorie contents are openly displayed. They provide leaflets documenting where they source their ingredients (who else does this) and offer healthy alternatives in many forms.

They sell millions of burgers every day because people choose to eat there out of their own free will.

I understand your dislike for fast food culture but that is your own choice / taste.

PS: I do not, nor have I ever, worked for McDonalds!

That's not a commendable thing.

Sponsoring sporting events is ridiculously cynical.

As for their transparency, that's something that's been forced on them over many years.

I have a McDonalds 8 or 10 times a year and thoroughly enjoy it. People really need to find something important to worry about.

I've just had a McDonalds for my tea. I feel no guilt whatsoever.

They sponsor sporting events because "...it is about taking sport back into the local community".

Advertising to kids used to be so much easier.

That assumes some pretty poor parenting. McDonalds in moderation isn't unhealthy. Obesity comes from prolonged excessive consumption. Parents are easily able to see that their kid is getting fat and should cut it out. It's no different to a kid eating too much chocolate. You wouldn't blame Mars if some idiot got fat after eating 30 Mars bars a day for ten years, would you?
