The difference is that Spain games being boring isn't really their fault. Xavi made a good point in an interview I read, talking about some of their one nil wins, there's not a lot they can do if the opposition set out to ruin.

Can we really blame them for "being too good" if every team they face opts to shut up shop and park a fleet of busses?

Some teams are boring, they throw everyone behind the ball and play anti-football. Spain don't do that, they don't WANT to play keep ball around the opposition area for ninety minutes, they WANT to play cutting football and score goals. But if some of the best and most organized defenses in the sport are going to rigidly deny them then its going to get tedious.

Hmmm yeah, no strikers? 2 defensive midfielders? Spain are anti football.

Don't quite agree with this. They seem to suffer from Arsenal syndrome. They don't take enough risks. I know their backers will say it's because they're talented enough and it's real football. But the amount of runs they ignore, the amount of times they don't play a pass is ridiculous. They are some of the best passers in the world and they have the ability to make a pass without it being 100% on. They could be so much more devastating if they didn't turn their back on goal as much.

And about teams setting up to park the bus. When your tempo is as slow, dull and methodical as Spain's is, you can't help but end up behind the ball, as with any slow tempo team.

The Ref & Officials are not at their best today

Balotelli is having a shocker

Fabregas has looked a brat since going back to Barca

Spain's Wing Backs are not imposing themselves on the game

Spain are badly missing a striker

Very odd game

Fabregas has looked a brat since going back to Barca

Was just about to say this, I thought Wenger had groomed him into a whining cunt who threw his toys out the pram (Like Arsenal players do) when things don't go his way but he seems even worse since going to Barca.

Although in Fabregas' defence I think he has reason to be pissed off today.

I was just making the point that he said he'd watched Italy 'once'. I've seen plenty of entertaining games involving Italy, and plenty of boring ones too. I think the boring thing is overplayed with them. For example at Euro 2008 they were getting slated for it against Spain when in fact they weren't that negative, and Spain were just quite poor on the night.

As for this game, it's been pretty even, Spain much better in possession but Italy haven't been negative. Funnily enough it's been a physical half with a lot of petty fouls but not too much play acting. It's better than Germany V Portugal so far but not a lot more entertaining.

And I know Balotelli's an idiot but I feel sorry for him in a way, he's been booked for making a couple of slightly mistimed challenges Does he really deserve to be sent off if he makes another one or two?

And for what it's worth, I mainly agree with this. But as I said, I wasn't actually accusing Spain of being boring.

Italy look well organised again, impressed by them. Not sure about Balotelli still.

Not sure what to say about Spain. They play it around so well but without a striker playing, natural runs etc, I can't see them scoring, especially more than one.

It's clearly a one-off and actually, Xavi, Iniesta and Silva are getting in to a lot of attacking positions.

They rarely do. I don't think Italy's defence is that good tbh, their full backs were doing a Peltier a lot of the time, without Spain having to draw them out.

I think there will be a goal in this.

Nothing wrong with Italian defence, strongest part of the team,

Agreed, I think they struggle up front if anywhere.
