KIRBYFOX93 Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 BBC is saying it now so another decent signing well done NP ...
Happy Fox Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 http://www.norwich.v...d=12245&posts=6 Testament to his quality that Norwich fans still want him, I was surprised when they released him he was arguably their best CB last season and they finished 12th, will be a coup for us seeing as it is on free.
glenny_fox Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Hopefully another class signing by Pearson. I think we will be hearing the word 'rocksolid' quite a few times next year. Bring on the season.
teblin Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Well we have to be really, can't believe we'll survive a season with just 3 unless he's promoting an academy player Maybe a younger player on loan from a prem club? Pearson seems to have signed at least 1 young player on loan in each of his season in charge of both us and hull.
Corky Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Encouraged by what I've heard. If it's true good business by the club.

teblin Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Loan deal for Maguire? Schlupp going the otherway? Merely speculating here! Don't think they would go for that. Was thinking of someone who might not be near a premier 1st team. From the top 5 or 6
jock2612 Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Sorry to be a pain, but just got in from work and a mate (Southampton fan) said this is far form a done deal.Does anyone know when this will be announced?
Happy Fox Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/07/23/american-exports-whitbread-transfers-leicester-city? AMSTERDAM – The agent for erstwhile Norwich City defender Zak Whitbread has confirmed that his client completed a free transfer move to Championship side Leicester City on Monday afternoon. The 28-year-old Houston native, who ran out of contract with Norwich at the end of June, passed his Foxes medical over the weekend. "Everything's gone fine," Whitbread's rep, Kevin Moran, told MLSsoccer.com of the routine physical entrance exam. "It's a two-year deal and the club has an option for a third." Before spending two-and-a-half seasons with Norwich, Whitbread also suited up for Millwall and Liverpool. He becomes the fourth American to join the Foxes, following Kasey Keller, dual citizenship-holding Chivas USA winger Ryan Smith and 1930 World Cup defender Alexander Wood. Leicester, who finished ninth in England's second flight last term, will kick off the new campaign with an Aug. 14 Carling Cup trip to Torquay United before opening the Championship season by hosting Peterborough four days later.
Deucalion Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 It's a direct quote and the information is very specific. Sounds done to me.
Jaspa Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 I can confirm Zak Whitbread was my man, and he has signed a 2 year deal with Leicester, when the club will confirm this is a different matter all together. He is American by birth but he has a strong scouse accent, sorry for the terrible clues but I honestly couldn't tweet his name the other day, but since its public knowledge, I'll confirm it was ZW. cuddly ken Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Don't get all the brain dreads on here heralding a Morgan/Whitbread partnership ahead of St Ledger. St Ledgers a proven international yet people still put Morgan and Whitbread ahead of him. Could them two play at top international level? I'd say no! Can't see SSL staying if he's only making the bench, expect a clamour of clubs in for him like last Jan when NP got cold feet and did a u turn after such huge interest from here and abroad.

You do understand the concept of competition?

Proven international? there's a reason why he applied to be irish despite being english. Don't get me wrong i like ledge, but he knew he wouldn't get in the england team...

Jaspa Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Wonder if Ledgend will be off ? I know hes good mates with Nuge, but I bet he made a few more this summer
Corky Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Great, we can chant "USA! USA!" every time he does something well. Just like having Kasey Keller back.
Fox92 Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Why we he leave? Ok, James, Peltier and De Laet can all slot into centre half when required but we've only got three (including Whitbread) centre half's (excluding the likes of the younger players, such as Taft). Whitbread has had a lot of injuries, I'm not doubting his ability, but I thought he would initially provide backup. I don't think it would be a good move to elbow St Ledger and sell him. When he was at Preston and made the play offs, St Ledger was solid at this level (a proven defender) and I belive he can be with us as well. Technically very good defender as well.
Guest Bilo Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Let's hope he's more Kasey Keller than Ryan Smith anyway. I imagine there'll be a battle royale to get into the back four this season, the ones who Pearson simply didn't fancy to get any games have clearly already gone so I can't see anyone being completely frozen out. Competition is healthy.

Whitbread has experience of Premier League football, so he's not some lower-league journeyman.
Guest Bilo Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Back four is starting to look solid and settled. We just need to complete the midfield set-up now and we should be doing well next season. Koren and a new winger next please.
