Ozwin Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 First game in years tomorrow. Advice so I don't look totally shit and out of place? I'm not a bad player but I'm used to indoor football and it's a totally different game outdoor. Not totally sure of my best position either
munf1987 Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 After playing in the Leicester summer league as a team that plays in the charnwood league, it was surprising to see the difference in the standards. We came across EMR, Kilby town and the shakespeare in our group.Who are all in Div 2 for the up coming season Both Kilby and Shakespeare have some good players, mainly in the middle of the park and like to get the ball down and pass it around which suits our own style of play. EMR are something else though, more interested in trying to have fights. I dont know if there squad was a mix of the first team and reserves but they sure dont like to loose. Sadly i wasnt around for the return fixture when they beat us so i judging them of one game. For anyone who plays in the charnwood sunday leagues. Has anyone come up against Hugglescoat? got them first game of the season

Has anyone come up against Hugglescoat? got them first game of the season I dunno who you play for but I think they'll probably be the team to beat in your division, god awful at the start of last season, lost 9-0 to Breedon the week before we played them. We turned up to our home fixture against them expecting an easy morning. Only (as is fitting with our luck) they'd gone out and got Ravenstone Uniteds old manager and he'd built a team up in 2 weeks :-/ was a decent game which we were unlucky to not get anything out of to be honest but by the time we played them in the return fixture he'd got all of his players in place and it was only thanks to some quality second half defending we left their having only lost 2-0. Bar missing one open goal we didn't create a thing. Main threat is a lad called Damo in the middle. He will run the game, I would say try and get someone to pick him up, but even if you do that he'll probably still run it , different class. They have one very good centre half and a bloke called Paul Collier up front who used to play at a very good level but is getting on now, we still put goals past you for fun if you don't deal with him properly. Their keeper is also difficult to beat. I'd imagine with the introduction of a reserve side that they've probably got some more players in and are now even better as well. Best of luck EDIT: If you played in div 2 last season you can return the favour and give me some Loughborough Accademicals information as we've got them first and we aint played them for three years.
Bert Posted 24 August 2012 Author Posted 24 August 2012 Yeah we beat Harrow in the cup last season. We also beat two div 4 Alliance league sides last season and imo there's very little between divs 4,5,6. Thing is a lot of teams have players who play Saturdays and only occasionally play on a Sunday when needed and they can effect the result greatly. I remember playing Harborough Hotshots last season in a big game and they got Ash Robinson in for the game (fully legit and signed up obviously) who plays for Quorn... tore us apart, different class. It's our last pre-season friendly so if anything, more of a fitness work out than anything and I'm sure our lads will have to do a lot of chasing on Sunday! Quality on the ball, everything goes through him.
Bert Posted 24 August 2012 Author Posted 24 August 2012 I'm playing for Humberstone in Alliance now. Dads team NRI been promoted again after winning league last season. See you soon <_<

We haven't come across them yet, come down from Div 1 last season. We have a good soild team, most of us played for shelthorpe lions at youth level, whilst 3 of us moved into the adult team which was in the prem. We have a number of players who play at a decent standard on saturdays and missed some of the players that we did last season due to them going travelling. Hopefully let you know how we get on, if i dont its probably because we got a good kick in. I play for AFC sporting charnwood. What about you? will keep your team in mind for a friendly next season or on a week off?

Has anyone come up against Hugglescoat? got them first game of the season We played EM Rangers after they contacted our secretary to play them in an 8-a-side friendly at Aylestone 3G. One of our players tackled one of the fat ones who thought he was something special and he turns around and goes, you've come to the wrong area to **** about with me, I'll get lads down from the Saff in no time. He then went round barging anybody he could get near. Bunch of tossers.
Father Ted Posted 25 August 2012 Posted 25 August 2012 Quality on the ball, everything goes through him. Absolutely, pings the ball around with ease.
SystonFox Posted 26 August 2012 Posted 26 August 2012 Absolutely gutted to say Royalist beat us 7-0 today. We missed two penalties ( I know! I was the victim to the first) scored an offside goal when it was already rolling over the line our striker decides to do a Nuge glory and smash it in from 1 yard except he's offside. What an idiot! We just were in very poor shape today everything cut through us like a knife through hot butter. Terrible performance. Royalist aren't that good. Striker number 16 only one to watch. Bottom half of div 6 I reckon
Bert Posted 26 August 2012 Author Posted 26 August 2012 Playing for oscars fc alliance prem. Surprised you've left crowies, unless that's them under a new name? Beat our first team 6-0 today.
Ashley Posted 26 August 2012 Posted 26 August 2012 Surprised you've left crowies, unless that's them under a new name? Beat our first team 6-0 today. Yeah same. Dont think they've changed name seen Crows Nest play the other week and wonderd why Ty weren't playing

What about you? will keep your team in mind for a friendly next season or on a week off? Ashby Ivanhoe. Next summer maybe we've never really been fans of mid season games and always struggle fo a side. If you've come down and picked a few of your older players up from the old Shelthorpe team then maybe you might be able to get a bit of change out of them. It'll be a decent indication of how you will get on I think they're as good as Swannington who won it at a canter last season. Although as they have folded I would imagine a few of the local clubs NW Leics clubs might have picked up a few of their players (we've had one) so if Racing Club or The Vic have had an influx of their players they might be half decent as well. I know quite a lot went Cross Keys though. Beat Cossington Royal Oak 5-0 on Sunday, Can't see them making much of an impression of Division 4 this season.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Noone. Swannington FC folded after making it to the premiership of the charnwood leagues. Gutted really as itd all down to mismanagement and the better players that were brought in not bring as loyal

Loughborough academicals blow hot and cold being a uni team. Season before last they pipped us to second place though that was down to dodgy results against other teams as we beat them twice I think. As we won the cup that season they promoted both of us to div 2 where we walked the league and they finished bottom. We played an Alliance team, ream team, in the cup and I think they were div 3 (we were div 2 of the CSFL. We were 3 1 down with 5 mins to go. Scored twice to take it to ET, we then went 4 3 up and ended up losing 5 4. Think they won the comp overall. Anyone from coalville ashby area need a left back or centre back? Im open to offers. Missed out on cross keys as I turned them down when swannos future was undecided and now they've too many players!

Who have you signed from swannington? 4 have gone cross keys, 1 to the pub next to varsity in loughborough (the names gone out my head) and a few have packed Sunday's in to join a whitwick Saturday team

goose2010 Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 This is a long shot but i dont suppose anyone on here is a goalkeeper that wants to play for a Sunday team in the Hinckley League (Div 1) decent bunch of lads that have been promoted 3 years in a row. Our goalie decided to tell us on Tuesday that he was quitting to sign for someone else! so at the minute we are in the sticky stuff! DM me or just reply on here!
