Guest Col city fan Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Sycophantism (whilst not an actual real word) is a behaviour I don't agree with. I've put up with you but another thread about Beckford in preparation for your Phlop is a little too much to bear, and the strength of responding to it too strong. I await that in about 2-3 weeks your 'I've been following LCFC for 35 long donkey's years..so my opinion is pretty damn more valid than your post/threads' will appear and I take it all back and bow down to your superior knowledge. And you are more than welcome to come and discuss writing techniques, and capturing an audience cos there's plenty for you to learn n shit. Quite simply, I posted a thread I felt important and it's had plenty of responses. If you don't like it, simply don't contribute. Or if you do, rather than having an unnecessary pop at myself, post something that adds to the debate. Regarding your blogs, as I've said to you before, I find how you do them impressive. As a rank amateur at such things I would like to find out more about creating them.
Babylon Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 did iwan really live in a council flat?? next door to joachim?? does PK really hate derby ?? is cov really a shit hole ? I wouldn't mind if he actually scored!!!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 One final point in JB. Will the people at the back of SK4 please stop singing "he scores when he wants" about Beckford. Firstly it's a shit song, and secondly he obviously doesn't want to score if the song is correct. Copy a song time with that one
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Gone so shit??? It's a shit poll in the first place. I see you've changed your tune from yesterday Waller? Are you now back on track with a positive slant on Pearson and the team?
tewkesbury-fox Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 We need a replacement if he goes,as the bench in the attacking options department is not going to be good enough for a assault on the top six ,coupled with the fact Nugent has not scored i think in the last nine games,Vardy has still to bed in,but the signs are looking promising for him.slightly disappointed we missed out on Cox or even Fuller,as they would have been a good option as replacement for Beckford.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 he had a knock and tried to get on with it , he was more or less begging the ref NOT to get him treatment as he didnt want to go off. Yeah, after the ref had stopped it, and only because he would have to go off after treatment to his 'terrible' injury. He needs a dose of man up, and so do you if you think he's worth the money he's on.
5waller5 Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 I see you've changed your tune from yesterday Waller? Are you now back on track with a positive slant on Pearson and the team? Having been to both games (unlike someone that didn't bother to even listen to the second half of Burton) I felt completely differently after each game. I'm sure any fan that went to both games will help you to understand the concept.

I'm glad you're back in the positive camp.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Had a mixed time yesterday, took the ball down well but his shot was hurried, and also miscontrolled in the midfield in a crucial time of the game. But it must be difficult when you are unsure of your future and don't know where you'll be. I don't think he's been value for money really, because we've spent so much. Serving your country overseas makes for insecurity of your future, I'm only guessing here, but I think I'd like to be as unsure of my future as he is whilst probably earning as much in a week as I do in a year. Stop feeling sorry for these footballers FFS! Some of them aren't worth the effort. Get real.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 This thread has gone so shit, people are now making poems. Another Beckford thread Col, I thought you were better than that Kingfox, its just a thread about an ongoing issue regarding a player at the club we all love . . . . . or is that loathe?
Bluetintedspecs Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 I agree with your reasoning behind the poll Col ,his totally poor ROI is now more pertinent than ever before! What's bst for the team should always be the priority, my opinion is JB is not best for the team for example yesterday I think he looked angry and confrontational particularly with Nuge and IMO to have that persona you have to deliver the goods and frankly he doesn't.

I think some feel it's another 'have a pop at Beckford thread', which it isn't. It's a poll and a debate and a question I feel is more pertinent now than it was a few weeks ago. What is negative in suggesting that Beckford leaving may free up funds for other players, maybe better? Or giving a chance to the other strikers we have at the club? Or at least gauging the opinions of the forum on this?
Guest ttfn Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 41% of people think Beckford represents value for money? We could pay £2.5 million for a cucumber and it would be better value for money than Beckford. It might not score any goals but at least you could eat it.

It suggests that some still have great faith in Beckford. Fair play to them.. It's a democracy and an interesting finding.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Mr. P. obviously thinks he is, or else he would have sold him. He certainly has talent, but needs to be handled by an adroit boss, and that is where Mr. P. may be going wrong. Hope he can pick up before too long.

It's a democracy and an interesting finding. I've not got a problem with people "having faith" in him (actually I sort of do, but that is well documented elsewhere). But there is no way he's been anything approaching value for money. It's a completely indefensible statement: there is no credit to it.

Funny how everyone else has fell into place, doing well not only individually but also playing for each other, and improving the team outcome as a result, but Beckford's still as shit as he was under Sven when he preferred Schlupp over him despite it being his 'marquee signing'.

Of course, it's Pearson's fault Beckford is rubbish. I've no idea what your opinion is of Sven, but it was he who signed him, and Beckford was even worse under the Swede than he is now. Beckford's form picked up significantly when Mr. P. returned.

MGLCFC Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 The alternative on the poll may be a reason for sticking with Beckford. That is, give one of the reserve strikers a chance. From what I've seen of Futacs, he's not ready and I don't think Waghorn will ever be ready. Had the poll offered the choice of getting rid of Beckford and loaning another striker, then I would have run with this option.
Raw Dykes Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 He loves Sven. I guessed as much. I think all the people who continue to slag Pearson off despite the recent good signings and performances are bitter about Sven getting the boot. Why do some people have to love one and hate the other?

If we take the rumours as true, I think it does look like there could well be a striker coming in to replace Beckford, should he leave. Maybe Le Fondre, and we apparently tried to sign Kane before Norwich got him.

To me it's obvious that JB was on the precipice of leaving in the window. It's been reported that LCFC pulled the plug at the last minute, even after he had signed the loan papers to go to Huddersfield. I have the feeling that whatever cheaper costing player we were after fell through therefore better to have JB return than not have options on the bench or for a game. I'd say Beckford's confidence is at it's lowest ebb, he actually looked sick going out on the pitch on Saturday. He made some excellent moves, but especially when he snatched at goal, when he had made an awesome run and controlled the ball beautifully. If he can knuckle down should he not be going out on loan shortly then I think Pearson should get the most out of him.
