Mirror - Redknapp emerges as shock target for Leicester

Why? Why?..... lol

The two situations are too similar..

Ancelloti gets the sack from Chelsea, a man very highly respected by players and fans alike, to be replaced by AVB who tries to do too much too quickly and loses the dressing room (allegedly).

Spurs... Sack Rednapp, another man highly respected by his players and bring in AVB who has ALREADY upset the apple cart re. Friedel and Lloris.

I think this could be disastrous and was amazed when I heard what Spurs were doing.

Only in football management can a bloke Fook up so spectacularly at one club, to be handsomely paid off when sacked and then walk straight into another top job, this time at Spurs, on another massive contract.

It's mad! It's mad!!! I tell ya....

Bit like Harry at Southampton. His previous achievements at Portsmouth got him the Spurs job, not the Saints one. Similar to AVB, one poor managerial role doesn't mean he's going to be a failure everywhere he goes.

Harry Redknapp could make a swift return to management with Leicester City, Sports Direct News can reveal

The 65 year old - who is volunteering as an advisor at his local club Bournemouth - is desperate for an early return to the game and the Foxes board are closing in.

Chairmn Vichai Raksriaksom is keen on the Londoner along with the remainder of the Thai-based Asia Football Investments consortium now in charge of the club.

Despite Leicester taking six points from their first four games, they are stuck in tenth place and manager Nigel Pearson has come under pressure.

Redknapp himself is desperate for a return to the game although but there remain doubts whether he wants to stay far from his him in the south west.

A source close to the Foxes board said: "There's a lot of ambition and a lot of money available at this club and several powerful people are very keen on Harry.

"There seems little doubt that if the team is not in the promotion bunch at Christmas then we could easily see some changes and Harry - were he interested - would certainly be involved."

Hang on, hang on let, me get this straight.

An un-named source, close to the board of an ambitious under-achieving English club, has said that, in the event that things are not going well by Christmas, half way through the season, and changes are deemed necessary, then they would probably be interested in looking at the most high profile, currently available manager with experience of being successful in the English league.

Or to put it another way: employers would be interested in the best candidate for the job.

...and this is newsworthy?

I'm pretty certain we will be doing well by Christmas.

If we are not, then I probably wouldn't be as opposed to a managerial change as I am now.

I'm also pretty certain that Redknapp will have a job by then anyway.

I did tell people that I knew we had made contact with Harry well before all this broke in the news.

It has happened. No idea beyond that except that one of the guys who met him in London was a legal beagle.

I can't see it. By Christmas he will be in a Prem job without doubt. Still it just shows the level of our owners ambitions, if not their common sense.

Which means if we get rid of Pearson as you wish we'd only be able to replace him with someone with no record in the premier.

It's not up to me, because I have no say in the matter. However, why should I want to replace him with "someone with NO record in the PREMIER"? lol:crylaugh:

I have no objection at all, but I thought Harry did! :yesyes: :yesyes: He took Spurs up among the top group in the country.

Because as my post earlier shows, you don't need someone with Premier League experience to win promotion from the Championship. In fact, Championship and Premier League football are completely different propositions - the Championship is far more direct and physical than the Premier League, there's no guarentee that success in the Premier League would equate to guarenteed success in the Championship. You just need a good manager, full stop.

The facts are that in the past five years the only manager with any significant premier league experience to get a team promoted from the Championship was Sam Allardyce and of the three teams he managed in the Premier League were either relegated (Newcastle United) or are currently in the Championship (Blackburn, Bolton) - he hardly set them up for years of prosperity. Add to this the fact that his side finished behind two teams with a fraction of his budget and managers with no PL experience and you see that he really should have done a lot better.

Put simply, the task at hand is promotion from the Championship. History has shown that you do not need to spend massive amounts of money or hire a big name PL manager to do this.

When we achieve promotion, then we can talk about what we need to do to stay in the Premier League

Because you want rid, the sort of manager you want isn't available or won't come... so that's your only real option isn't it if you are against him so much.

I want Jose Mourinho but it's not going to happen, similarly we aren't going to get someone with with a decent record in the premier league as you want.

Absolutely agree with this, especially the final sentence. The teams that have been promoted have THEN gone on to reassembling a squad for Premiership football.

I said this before, who would have thought that West Ham would now have Andy Carroll?

Getting into the Prem and then staying there are two completely different things.

If City can get promotion, more money becomes available to then make important additions.

Re read your previous post. You clearly state that I am wanting someone with No record in the Premiership!

I'm pretty certain by Christmas Redknapp will have a job sewing mailbags in Wormwood Scrubs. The crooked little spiv is on borrowed time.

Redknapp: "Leicester are a club going places, I'd certainly consider the job"

Vichai Raksriaksom: "Sorry Nigel, you're fired!"

Redknapp: "Brenden Rogers sacked you say? I'll be on the next flight!"

Iain Dowie: "I'm delighted to be entrusted with the task of taking Leicester to the Premiership"

Seriously though, Redknapp would never take the Liverpool job - it's a bit too far north of Watford for him.

The mess they are in at the moment, they would probably relocate to the South Coast if it meant winning something.

Nah, we'd just offer nige some more money and he'd be back. If there's one thing we know about Pearson, it's that he is more than happy to fellate the same organ which penetrated him if the price is right.

Redknapp has never managed the same club twice has he?

Pathetic, the pair of you. Got your Wolves shirts and Pearson Out banners ready for Sunday? Bet you'll be over the moon if Wolves score.
