SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 September 2012 Posted 18 September 2012 Newcastle Jets in the A-League. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/football/newcastle-jets-hunt-emile-heskey-in-marquee-race/story-fn63e0vj-1226476888069 Would love to see him in the a-league would, my season ticket is front row behind the goals so would be able to get up nice and close to the big man. Also will be a great advertisment for the league with Del Pierro just signing for Sydney.
kingfox Posted 18 September 2012 Posted 18 September 2012 Del Piero to Heskey, laugh if Heskey gets a better reception if he does opt to go to Australia.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 September 2012 Author Posted 18 September 2012 Del Pierro signing has been pretty big news because of the large Italian community here.
Hack Posted 19 September 2012 Posted 19 September 2012 Wow. Huge coup for the Aleague. Sydney FC Signed Alesandro Del Piero who was being chased by Liverpool now Heskey. Rumour that Michael Ballack is coming down here to play. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/soccer/former-england-striker-emile-heskey-set-to-sign-for-a-league-club-newcastle-jets/story-fndb5nmd-1226476821669 These guys are at the end of their career but still have alot to offer. Would all be decent for lower Premier league or Championship quality.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 September 2012 Author Posted 19 September 2012 Agree need to get this league to work now our 'golden age' has ended
purpleronnie Posted 19 September 2012 Posted 19 September 2012 Great for the A League, it seems they are following the MLS...well known players gets people through the turnstiles.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 September 2012 Author Posted 19 September 2012 Do you think it has helped the national team and developing young players in the MLS?
purpleronnie Posted 19 September 2012 Posted 19 September 2012 Do you think it has helped the national team and developing young players in the MLS? Well TBH theres still a lot of younger yanks coming through the ranks into the MLS, they do have a good set up as far as youth football is concerned and in America they do like to see home grown talent...its going through a rough period at the moment as youth teams seem to be underperforming...but its not like England where the academies are full of foreign players so the good american players will come through.
NGoloMode Posted 19 September 2012 Posted 19 September 2012 Should be a great signing for them.. what sort of level of football is it in Australia?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 September 2012 Author Posted 19 September 2012 Should be a great signing for them.. what sort of level of football is it in Australia? Hard to say but probably League 1
OzFox Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Hard to say but probably League 1 Agree with that. Fantastic signing for the A league, as is del Piero and Ballack if he comes. The Newcastle reps said they couldn't believe how humble Heskey was when they met him in London
ozleicester Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Destination nowhere The media team at Destination NSW did not cover themselves in glory, The SMH reports. Soccer fans may have noticed the excitement around the arrival of Alessandro Del Piero to play for Sydney FC. So it was a big press turnout for a photocall at Taronga Zoo including minister George Souris. Which made it awkward when they had to cancel it because nobody had remembered to invite del Piero, who was at training. Sydney FC tells the SMH: We knew nothing about it.†Which is awkward. Pretty pissed off that a few Glory games in WA are going to be played at Subiaco Stadium and not NIB... Subiaco is simply the SH1TTEST place to watch "soccer", if you thought the places with running tracks were crap

Never looks quite right somehow with all those empty spaces around the pitch. Just got tickets for del Piero v Heskey...should be a laugh. And tickets for the first Sydney derby are selling fast
Ric Flair Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Me and a few Heskey fanatics are considering doing a long weekend to go and watch him and get leathered. Just looking at flights now.
Bayfox Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 1031: FOOTBALL Newcastle Jets sell out of Emile Heskey No 9 shirts and order 5,000 more, according to Foxsports in Australia. The former Liverpool and England striker has also attracted more than 1,000 new members to the A-League club since announcing his move to Australia
Aus Fox Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 I have a few Leicester fans I know ready for the game in Melbourne! "Come to watch Heskey, we've only come to watch Heskey"
Aus Fox Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 The season kicks off October 5th think Newcastle play on the 7th

kingfox Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Great to see Heskey get his move. Different environment, but the A League can be pretty decent, just a shame he won't be on Fifa 13.
