It's good to dream - Light hearted and entirely hypothetical

Based on a conversation last week after the win at Sheffield Wednesday, I was discussing with a few friends the dream Europa League group for Leicester City.

Let's just say, entirely hypothetically, that we did alarmingly well in the cup and qualified for Europe. What would your dream and nightmare groups look like?

The consensus was that a dream group would look a bit like this:

Lille - As easy to get to as Watford thanks to Eurostar, a lovely stadium and with over 100,000 students living there; a guaranteed top night out.

Moenchengladbach: Germany, excellent ground, and decent nightlife.

Shamrock Rovers - Flight to Dublin where a great midweek could be spent, underrated fan scene and most probably a win as well.

A nightmare group would look like:

Any English club: Not an anti-English football rant, but imagine the disappointment of thinking of places like Valencia and Milan and ending up in Stoke.

Anzhi: Horrible trip, notoriously racist Russian fans and most probably ripped to shreds by Eto'o.

Neftchi Baku: Ever fancied flying out to Azerbaijan on a Thursday night? Me neither.

I don't think the Europa League is beyond us, maybe not this season but five years down the line I see no reason why we couldn't match Fulham's achievements (or better )

The europa league won't be here in five years will it?.

He might still go back on it, there have been a lot of suggested projects that haven't gone through. But yes you're right, I'd forgotten about the current plans - quite against it myself, Europe League gives smaller clubs the chance to win something.

True, but most clubs would rather do without it. Too many games and huge distances to travel.Just look how Newcastle have suffered this season.

But they'd just be in the Champions League instead so would still have all the extra games and such. The only real difference to Newcastle would be that the Europe League is winnable whereas the Champions League often isn't.

Nightmare group:

Real Sociadad - couldn't afford to get there

Napoli - couldn't afford to get there and mafia

Olympiacos - couldn't afford to get there and fascists

I can see no positives for me. :(

Agree with this, but my mate lives in Baku so I wouldn't mind that.

Would also throw in Brugge as a dream destination. It's a beautiful city with a disgustingly brilliant array of beers.

Also, anywhere in Spain/Portugal away in September.

Keep meaning to go to Lille for a Champions League game but haven't got round to it yet; shame

Is it not the same as the CL wherein you can't be drawn against clubs from the same country until the later rounds?

I know it's not too full of glamour, but for purely selfish reasons I would love to see a "battle of Britain" against a Scottish side, with the exception of either of the sides in Dundee  as in my experience, the city is a surprisingly vile heroin-infested craphole.

Failing that, would love to watch City play somewhere warm in Spain or Portugal (but not Italy - they seem to have developed a problem with fans being a bit "stabby") or somewhere with great nightlife like Berlin, Dublin, Amsterdam or Prague.

That was another point of discussion, a Scottish side wouldn't be bad at all. Hibs would be high on the list.

As you say though, anywhere with good nightlife would represent a cracking tie. I can only imagine thousands of Leicester fans descending on Amsterdam.....

Dream group:

Bordeaux

Any Spanish Club

Ajax or some Belgian club.

I've always said that my dream is for Leicester to get Hajduk Split away, only down the road from where I come from, some bad blood there and pyro's galore! Second best to that then would Dinamo Zagreb at home.

So I'd say:

Hajduk Split

Olympiakos

Any German side

From this years lot I would pick levante, it's in Valencia if you didn't already know that, got a few mates out there that are season ticket holders, weather is still great until November, and we could actually beat them.

Other picks would be fc Copenhagen, love Copenhagen even though it's a bit pricey, and somewhere random like Genk
