The 59-year-old, who became the face of the BBC's Saturday night in the 1990s with shows such as The Generation Game and Big Break, was held in west London on suspicion of sexual offences. Police officers were seen entering Davidson's house in Hampshire on Wednesday afternoon with clear plastic evidence bags, according to a local news agency. Davidson "vigorously denies" allegations made against him by two women, his solicitor Henri Brandman said . In a statement, Brandman said: "Two women have made allegations in respect of Jim that date back approximately 25 years. The complainants were then in their mid 20s. "Jim vigorously denies the allegations. He answered police questions as fully as he was able after this passage of time. "He has not been charged with any offence. Neither he nor I will be making any further comment." Separately, the Metropolitan police also arrested a 53-year old man in Hampshire, which takes the total number of people arrested under Operation Yewtree to nine. The Met police said that the latest two arrests fall under the "others" strand of the investigation, which means that the alleged offences are not connected to Savile. Others arrested and bailed under Operation Yewtree include former pop star Gary Glitter, comedian Freddie Starr, and the publicist Max Clifford. Davidson has been widely reported to be one of the contestants on the latest series of Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother, with the housemates set to be officially unveiled in the first show on Thursday night. A spokesman for Channel 5 said the broadcaster never officially commented on its lineup for Celebrity Big Brother before the launch show. Scotland Yard said last month 31 allegations of rape had been made against Savile and 589 people had come forward with information relating to the scandal. Revealing the scale of the investigation in December, Commander Peter Spindler said 450 individuals had made allegations against former BBC celebrity Savile, mostly of sexual assault. It is understood that 139 individuals made allegations against others, including celebrities and people in positions of power. The scoping exercise into the scale and nature of allegations against Savile had been completed, Spindler said, but police activity against other alleged abusers was still continuing. "Our officers will continue to investigate allegations made against those who potentially can be brought to justice. More arrests nationally will be forthcoming," he said at the time. Officers are still collating the data from their inquiry into the activities of Savile over several decades.

He was known to be banned from almost every hotel in Torquay as he was a pest to most females, workers and guests, when doing his stints at the Princess Theater many years ago. To the point he used to have to moor his boat in the marina when he was doing a 3/4 week worth of shows as nowhere would take him.
