some people on here jesus. im fact leicester did used to be english, now the english are a minority.

yes they sing it to take the piss. fact is though they are right. I dont go into the town centre for any reason as a result of this. seeing burkahed up woman spitting everywhere. erm no thanks, not for me.

if anyone thinks leicester is a multicultural heaven then i'd think again. No one has the balls to say it for the fear of being racist.

I'd agree with you when you say Leicester isn't a multicultural "heaven" but it's a lot better than some places. In many locations the blend of several different cultures creates major problems for the population but that doesn't happen in Leicester and that is to the credit of all people who live in the city. I don't think everyone gets on as well as they might but they don't need to IMO, some natural segregation is always likely as people of similar interests and beliefs come together - That isn't something to worry about for me.

Many of my friends are Asian and they're all very good people to be with, they aren't "English" in the sense you might imagine but that isn't really important because they fit perfectly into our society.

There is a danger in turning a blind eye to racism, which is almost suggestive of acceptance/tolerance.

It is unacceptable.

Have to strike a balance though, somewhere in between not turning a blind eye and not going sky sports news on everyone in reporting that everyone and anything is racist.

The problem with fighting geniuine racism these days is the word is used so freely its been completely devalued to the point where racism is being yelled at every corner and in 9 out of 10 cases it probably isnt.

'Your not English anymore'? I'm with the ones who just brush that off to be honest, certainly don't see it as the words of the next coming of the Klan.

Really looking foward to Sirloins response can't understand why he is taking so long?

Sounds to me like you're nitpicking over whether you're being racist or xenophobic. Either way, you're not exactly coming out of this smelling of roses are you?

And who says people can't be racist about their own race? If a black person said 'I can't stand niggers, I hate the black bastards' would that not be racist?

I'd be impressed if you saw people with face-coverings spitting, probably means magic... but I digress.

The english aren't a minority Signor Fucktard: http://www.leicester...tics/ethnicity/ - please note that the White: UK number for 2011 is still 1.5 times the size of any other group...

I used to know a black guy like that, he even leafleted for the BNP in New Parks in 2004.

No I wouldn't say he is if he assulted someone of a different race purely because they were a different race I would say that was racist.

If a white man stole from a black man purely because he didn't agree with someone of a different skin colour living in his town I would say he was a racist.

If a group of white men shouted abuse at a black man walking down the road just because he was from a different race I would say that is racist.

If a group of football fans sing 'You're just a small town in Wales' to Bristol fans because they are geographically close to Cardiff then that is not racist, and is a pretty pathetic excuse to cry about it and play the race card when there are far more genuine worthy cases of a race crime.

Bristol City fans were not specifically referring to those suburbs but Leicester as a whole, where White British is not a minority.

Certain suburbs wished they were English, there not anymore.

They could sing something along those lines. Would that be true then?

HERP DERP ENGLISH MINORITY!

Except of course, for the 60% who are white british (that's ignoring the English people of other races). English people are not a fucking minority in Leicester, no matter what you think is the case.

And what you call face coverings I called oppressive middle aged masks. Get a grip you lefty ring peice.

Eh? I don't argue they're oppressive - I argue that if you're going to critise, at least know what you're fucking talking about.

I think as others have said, do we really care what a minority of Bristol City fans were singing? We all know, wherever we go, our city is always going to be subject to chants like these. That doesn't mean we should be resigned to this happening, or "accept" it, but do we really care? I won't go into the "Is it/isn't it racist?" as I think that's been answered plenty by others, but I will say this: I am damn proud of my city; I am proud of its diversity. Leicester is by no means perfect (where is!), but despite its faults, I am still proud to come from and live here. I love that I can go from the blaze of Diwali lights on Melton Road to the fantastic (in my opinion) Christmas lights around the town centre and if being not "English" enough is the price I have to pay to enjoy my city ... I'll take it!

So all those who sing "You wish you were English" and "Small town in India" etc, can take a long walk off a short pier for all I care. And that is all I do care. As a city and as a team and as fans we're not perfect (apart from Chris Wood...), but we shouldn't let the genuine minority ruffle our feathers. We're Leicester City. We're going up. Bristol and the rest of them can do one.

My God, is this a piece of rationality in this discussion? I do believe it is!

Thank fvck for that.

This is the way this matter should be approached.

Just a thought, a crazy one I know, but why doesn't everyone chant in support of their players and their club, rather than get sucked into a 'who can be more offensive?' battle with the opposition fans?

I don't know about you but I've never seen a 10+ page thread about 'singing the blues'. Maybe people just love a cry and a moan when they hear something that oversteps the 'banter' mark. Whatever that is. Banter needs to fvck off. Boring, witless shit.

My personal opinion is that if you can hear the opposition fans, you aren't doing your job properly.

In sum, if you ignore the morons the other side of the segregation, they'll probably stop. If they don't, well, it just confirms everyone's suspicions in that they are, in fact, thick as pigshit.

Very true and it's never been more evident on Saturday. Majority of ours didn't want to know if we sung anything pro-Leicester but as soon as it was "going down going down" or even worse "Rovers, Rovers, ROVERS" (stood there and facepalmed) then everyone was out in force.

its not that your making harmless the jokes, if anyone reads back about what you've written on here, first of calling bristol city fans, welsh wankers and then keeping going on about race identity etc, it's all nonense.

Maybe you need to get outside and get some fresh air, as its just an embrassment, I'm afraid.

Ok I'm sorry, I'm going outside now to get some fresh air and reflect on my actions. Thanks for the sound advice
