Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 I think he's become a victim of his versatility in that respect chap, he dictates his sides tempo and play as much as ever but just appears to do it from a deeper role. The arrivals of RvP and Hernandez, as well as the emergence of Welbeck - has made Ferguson change Rooney's style of play to accommodate him in the side. To score such a ratio of goals from a deeper position is incredible, for me. I still think he could be pivotal for England if he's used in the right system. All opinions though, isn't it? Cheers for choosing to reply in a decent way instead of spitting the proverbial dummy out like a fair few others would concerning different opinions.
whoareyaaa Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Well he has, as an all round player. As a goalscorer, no he's still very good at that, but as an all round player, yes he has tailed off. He has changed from being a deeplying forward who would really effect every part of his teams play, and score his fair share of goals, to a player who just scores his fair share of goals. That to me means he's got worse. I would say he is more of an all round player now than he has ever been plus he is still banging in more goals than most strikers. hes always involved when I watch them play and has 7 assists to his name so far...
Stand UP... Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Rooney is an amazing player his skill strength and intelligence on the pitch is second to none. Man u fortunately can afford to have Rooney injured with the likes of the obvious available
Dan Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Becoming a victim of his own versatility too, unfortunately - but to say he's 'not good' is simply garbage. Who's said that?
Guest MattP Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 He's a good player, not great. Denfinately hasn't achieved his potential mind considering what we thought he was going to be as a teenager.
The People's Hero Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 I'm not suggesting they are in the same class, but Fergie has form of changing strikers to midfielders, see Paul Scholes (and Alan Smith). Rooney is a talented player, but he is a little overrated in this country. Good enough to be at Utd though.
MrSpaM Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 You've also got to consider the bigger picture here. Recently travelled to Italy, and every single person we asked thought Rooney was the best english player. Selling him would mean a huge revenue loss for man u, they'd probably lose more money from selling him than they'd actually gain from it.

Selling him would mean a huge revenue loss for man u, they'd probably lose more money from selling him than they'd actually gain from it. Rooney would be a definite starter in EVERY other Premier team and virtually all European ones too, apart from Barcelona and maybe Bayern/Dortmund/Juve. There is no prospect of United selling him, at least as long as SAF is still manager there. Although he's been overshadowed by RVP this season, he's still made notable contributions, especially in the Champions League and scoring twice in a 3-2 win at the Etihad. Rooney has some fitness and temperament issues which perhaps should have been sorted out at an earlier stage of his career, but on his day, he's still the best English player in world football by some distance.

Ermmmm, will this do? fat wasteman Bang average is Rooney. He is so overrated. Considering a lot of people rate him as the best striker in the BPL, he's never once won the Golden Boot. Hell, even Anelka and Berbatov have won it. He's an average top-half Premiershp striker, nothing more. Simply overrated, was okay when he first come onto the scene but i would say in the last four years he's been nothing special, time he was dropped from the England squad, don't think we need him! Cheers.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 20 January 2013 Author Posted 20 January 2013 World class wooney warming the bench
AKCJ Posted 20 January 2013 Posted 20 January 2013 He'd walk into any first team squad (first 11 or bench) in Europe.
Danizen Posted 20 January 2013 Posted 20 January 2013 Has a fat percentage below ten. You're more fat than him. Epic fail sir. That may be so but in August he was visibly overweight and looked ready to burst against Everton.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 20 January 2013 Author Posted 20 January 2013 SAF getting desperate. Rooney's come on
SystonFox Posted 20 January 2013 Posted 20 January 2013 I'm not actually going to bet but he usually delivers something when he comes off the bench
The Year Of The Fox Posted 20 January 2013 Author Posted 20 January 2013 I'm not actually going to bet but he usually delivers something when he comes off the bench neither am i mate He does sometimes. Usually he gives the ball away more times than he completes a pass. Hes been wank so far today. edit that foul just then on lennon has been the best thing hes done. certainly his biggest contribution so far to the result
Fox in the North Posted 20 January 2013 Posted 20 January 2013 Get in! Can't stand smug man utd fans haha
Danizen Posted 20 January 2013 Posted 20 January 2013 Get in! Can't stand smug man utd fans haha Absolutely!
