Bettsj2 Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 So because a few people didn't, those he did try should be treated exactly the same way. Nice one! Thats the way it works!! You cant just take peoples word for it and give them cash back. Its a real unfortunate situation but the club made sure the pitch was fine to play on and the surrounding area was safe. The police etc could have called it off but they didnt. Blame Sky, blame the club, blame the weather, blame everyone you like. The bottom line is, whether you chose not to go or whether you genuinly couldnt, the game went ahead and at no point throughout the day did any message come out to say otherwise. The club having gone through the effort and expense of getting the game on, shouldnt be expected to shell out again. Its just unreasonable.
AlphaMaleFox Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Some people need to get real if they are implying that we had 12,000 plus people who just couldn't be arsed. There are some... I'm definitely less bothered about missing games. Going week after week last season and consistently not enjoying myself sucked the life out of me. I don't feel valued by the club at all and I don't feel the pride in it that I used to either. I used to be really proud of our support and used to think how great the atmosphere's would be in the Premiership with a full stadium. Now I think things are more likely to get worse than better. :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: K
Mike King Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 I live near Huntingdon, Cambs. Started for Leicester at 5.00pm, A1 OK, 2 hrs 10 mins on A47, as some driver decided to do max 22 mph all way to Leicester. Parked near Welford Road, walked to stadium, had a burger outside, but queue for a drink inside was very long with only 50% Wellers open so gave up to get to my seat in East Stand. Pie and pint obviously the problem, what if 20,000 were there???? Starting early as 56 miles away ensured I arrived in time for KO - where were the other missing 12,000? Returned home via A6 and A14 - no problem. A good win and promotion now a real possibility.

It's not unreasonable to expect the club to actually care about people. Shell out again? There must has been 6,000 individual tickets sold, that means a free pie and a pint for each of them that potentially didn't get given away. The club could easily say to them, if you have that match ticket unused you can use it for x game instead to claim your pie and pint, I'd expect that at the least. It's called a gesture and good PR. Season ticket holders who didn't go will be given another ticket to a game of their choice to take a mate. We have 8000 empty seats a week, they could easily offer the same or a few quid off with an unused ticket. I get my free ticket to give away, I'm arguing on behalf of those who get nothing.

I set off before 5pm and hadn't managed to travel 1 mile within 2 hours. Clearly if you did 56m in 2 hours I could easily have made it though.
Harry - LCFC Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 I did think the chants of "if you're watching on the telly you're a ****" were a little inappropriate. Some people watching on the TV were but most probably were not.
Babylon Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Starting early as 56 miles away ensured I arrived in time for KO - where were the other missing 12,000? Sat in traffic in the city centre clearly as they keep pointing out. Congratulations on missing the traffic.
DanTheMan Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 I would be very interested to know what they advised the club. You are dodging the point I was making... I imagine the City authorities and/or the Police probably said it would be better if it didn't go ahead, but the point I was making was that it is wrong for anyone to use the "police should have called it off!" argument since it didn't apply as it was specifically stated that the club were the only ones with the power to do so. Whether or not they made the "right" descision is another matter that has been debated at length here...but it was their decision to make, and theirs alone.
Babylon Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Some people watching on the TV were but most probably were not. Lovely to see what people think of their own fans on this board.
danny. Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Oh, and re: the walking thing. To say again, as people clearly can't get it through their heads: How is it in any way relevant to say you can walk there in 1 hour, if you have not managed to get home from work until say 8pm? Friday was an extreme case of awful weather and traffic, and obviously an awful lot of people had real issues getting home/getting there, as the attendance was crazy low. To just say "walk there" is a moot point and ignore the fact that people need to get back from work (unless you don't work/didn't work that day).

So the police wanted it calling off but the club went ahead anyway... wow that paints them in an even greater light if that is the case!
Harry - LCFC Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Lovely to see what people think of their own fans on this board. If someone lives a fairly short distance from the ground and couldn't be fvcking bothered then I have a fairly negative opinion of them. For some peope it was spectacularly easy to get to the KP on Friday and they didn't even try, 8,500 is an awful attendance and I'm embarrassed by it. A club of our stature shouldn't have to suffer with tinpot numbers like that. I'll highlight my view that most people's decision to not attend was justified but I've no doubt that the attitude of some fans wasn't good enough.

I agree if you didn't have time after getting back from other commitments/work etc, then that is a very valid point... but from my earlier post: I do understand that some people simply could not get there (due to gridlock, having to go home first etc and then not having enough time to get to the ground) but I do agree with those that say that if you lived within 2-3miles of the ground and had the time to walk, you could and should have gone! So my point is those that lived nearby and had plenty of time to walk in, but chose not to for whatever reason - I have little sympathy for them. I imagine these people would be in the minority though!

So what if people decided to stay at home, what the hell has it got to do with you? They paid their money and can do as they wish, who the hell do you think you are to say someone is a c*** because they would rather not go out on a night like that, or in fact any week when people decide not to go, as they do. If you are "embarrassed" by it you need to get a grip on reality. You are no doubt one of those people that abuses others for leaving a few minutes early, because you're a "loyal supporter" and they aren't for leaving a minute before the whistle. Your bio says it all "Seventeen years old, college student." When you have a real life outside of football, see how much of a great supporter you are then.

We can argue all day about this. You obviously are on the side of the people who didnt go and I'm siding with the club. To me, the fact the club worked through the day and up to kick off to get the game on for the fans is good PR. If they'd have known that the reward would be a crowd of under 9,000, I doubt they'd have bothered.
Babylon Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 I'm siding with the club. What they going to do to the 6000 free pints and pies they have already sold to people with their ticket? Sell them again to someone else and get paid twice for the same thing... how lovely of the club.

danny. Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 The pie thing was crap as well, as I got there (luckily I live 5 min walk away), but after kickoff - so tried to get my pie+pint at half time, and they said it was only for pre-match. Like I'd had any chance of getting that!
Babylon Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Because we have some painfully immature posters who decide someone is a c*** because they don't go to a sodding football game.
whoareyaaa Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 I think the club should give the Season ticket holders who couldn't make it something in return and also the people that paid for a ticket, because lets be honest the main reason the game went ahead is so Leicester got there pay check from sky. The club knew how bad the traffic was around the City and that it was deadlock and there would be a huge decrease in attendance due to that.
kingfox Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Awwww diddums. Moan moan moan, what do you flaming want, free tea/coffee and soft drinks for all season ticket holders who didn't attend the Middlesbrough game. You are not going to get anything so deal with it. One thing as well, the snow was probably heavier yesterday than on Friday night, yet Welford Road seemed full yesterday, we only had just over 8,000 they probably had about 22,000 on a day which the snow was heavier and worse. People may say they had work etc...but if you had a brain you would of gone straight from work, or I seen quite a few people left there work early on Friday because of the weather, so in my opinion if you were in that category time wasn't a serious problem.
Bettsj2 Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 What they going to do to the 6000 free pints and pies they have already sold to people with their ticket? Sell them again to someone else and get paid twice for the same thing... how lovely of the club. The pies go to waste just as any food left after a match do (Normal H&S Food standards legislation). The beer just stays as stock but they'll pay extra insurance premium for having additional alcohol on the premises. Of course none of this is the every day fans problem. Nor is the money paid to the council by the club to sub contract road gritters for the surrounding area throughout the day or the expense of powering the undersoil hearing from morning to kick off, or the money paid to stewards and police to cope with a 25,000 crowd rather than an 8,500 crowd. None of this matters of course because 12,000 found it impossible to get to the game?? I dont believe that. I would imagine some genuinly could not get there but I would wager that the majority assumed the game would be off so went home. I just dont see how 8,500 could manage to get there. Were they all from the same area of Leicester?
fleckneymike Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Why are people obsessed with pies and pints? You were getting them for ****ing free. Gratis. Nada. Nothing. How ****ing dare the club deny you your chance to eat for free! If you were dumb enough to buy a £5 voucher for a £1 pie and £2.50 pint then more fool you.
