Ha ha. Sorry, I'm getting caught up in the hype as always. Watching BDC and the crowd at the opening ceremony last night just makes me want us to batter them even harder

I've had a shocking weekend, one of the highlights of the sporting year and then I've got West Brom A tomorrow and then no 1 son has got us tickets for Oasis Sunday night.

Will be a Likely lads mission to avoid the score till Monday, so I can see the Singles.

Think we have a decent team, there is a real chance here.

Bearing in mind how much a fan of Europe the Orange Scottish Golf Club owner is, would be great to beat them on his watch, would be MEGA, Make Europe Great Again:clap:

This is the worst weekend of every other year.  This is probably the sporting event that I can't bear to lose more than any other and it's just stressful from start to finish.

Might see what odds I can get on Sundays singles being fogged off ……

There's a good amount of rain in the forecast today around here, after what's been a pretty dry month or two. Will be interesting to see how it softens up the course in advance of the weekend.

I am extremely emotionally invested in this. Probably more than ever this year.

That's because there's "more" at stake this year, I think.

I hope the Euro players are up for it. They need to be and they need the form to match.

It is the biggest, it is the best but I just hope the stupid US crowd can behave itself...

1. This is a NEW YORK CITY crowd.

Strap in, folks.

p.s. Equating NYC with “America” is a ridiculous stretch. The connection is geographical, not cultural.

There might not be a group in world sport that can summon team spirit quite like the Europe Ryder Cup team. You guys really have a remarkable tradition and every two years your players all appreciate the things about the Ryder Cup that are bigger than the game.

The only time the USA has really come close to developing a team culture of our own in this generation was at Whistling Straits where they played up the pure talent in the squad and walked around the course with swagger all week. But then LIV came around and killed this ethos, while the top Europeans support each other and cheer each other on even when spread out across the world and several tours. Rory was front and center of the PGA/LIV thing but that hasn’t seemed to hurt Europe’s team spirit one bit (at least that’s how I see it).

As for the other comments about the American fans, I just roll my eyes at the histrionics from the other side of the Atlantic. Even for the different standard of behavior at golf than other sports I just find the European complaints to be precious to the highest degree. People might yell out stupid things from time to time but it’s just a golf crowd with a little extra juice, nobody really crosses any lines. We’ll cheer our players, someone will shout “mashed potatoes!”, the traveling fans will sing their adorable little “everywhere they gooo” song and nobody will get hurt.

I hope that the crowd goes nuts at Bethpage and does NYC and Long Island justice, but even if I factor this in, it will be just fine and I don’t expect anything that should cause anyone to get all worked up. The fans have been very respectful during the practice rounds this week so I don’t see things going from one end of the spectrum to the other

in two days. Besides, only the cruelest of characters could boo Tommy Fleetwood with their whole hearts.

Don’t you think your chants are crap though?

I'd tentatively agree with this but there is a rather nasty undercurrent of nationalism working its way into seemingly everything over there, one might just hope this golf is one of the rare exceptions.

They've only got one and I think it goes something like U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A

Or ‘I believe that we will win’

Ive seen a ‘soccer’ one before where the fans are chanting ‘the referees a w*nker’ on the walk TO the stadium before the game 🤣🤣🤣

Ryder Cup quite easily my favourite sport event and even better than the World Cup for me. Looking forward to 3 days of great golf. Not looking forward to the get in the hole shouts on a 600 yard par 5 though because that's just stupid! Definitely think we'll bring it home though.

Just from the press conferences etc feel like we have the upper hand already. Not surprised to see the US team moaning about money again, now it's been sorted sure they'll find something else to moan about. Cantlay probably moan his hat is the wrong colour and refuse to wear it in protest again. He's a clown of the highest order. Hope he loses every match.

It’s the only thing that really works under the European banner although I love the places in this fantastic continent.
