Adster Posted 22 March 2013 Posted 22 March 2013 If you actually had that attitude we wouldn't be having this conversation. Wishing ill on clubs you don't like is half of football. I love to see bad things happen to the likes of Cov, Forest, Derby, Man Utd, Chelsea, Millwall, etc. That doesn't make me a moron, it makes me a normal football fan. You wouldn't bat an eyelid if people laughed at them getting relegated but all of a sudden people should sympathise and care for them now? Bullshit. It's fvcking football not their lives so yeh I will laugh at them, just as many have done to us when we've had bad times. It's swings and roundabouts, revelling in others failure makes victory all the sweeter. That's why local derbies are such great games. I think you're being rather childish. Sad thing is though pal, for a lot of fans these days it is. I happen to live in Coventry. I know an awful lot of Cov fans who live for the weekends, and would be absolutely heartbroken without watching Coventry at the end of the week, win draw or lose. You're 'wishing ill' is way out of context, anyway. There's wishing ill, then there's laughing at the fact they possibly will implode. Sure, I wish ill on Forest, Cov, Chelsea, Man City etc to lose. Not implode. There's a big difference. The sooner you learn that difference, the better.

And even if they're not, they'll just start again, with just the die hards, in a smaller stadium in the City. Like I said, in some ways that would be better for them. I said I couldn't care less what happens to them myself, I would like them to stay in the lower leagues but anything else has no bearing on me. Do I actively wish them to go out of business? Nah, I don't really care. But do I feel any sympathy for them in their current plight? Absolutely not. And I don't judge anyone else for wanting their fans to suffer, as I say, that's football. Maybe it's just because they've seemed like a dead club walking for years but tbh I feel more sympathy with West Ham fans for having to move out of Upton Park than I do Coventry. I mean, what have they really got left to lose?

There's a big difference between fans seeing their club perform poorly and not actually having a club. I wish people wouldn't try and equate the two situations as they simply aren't the same. I'd use the analogy of you not liking someone, perhaps you hope they're late to work and get ticked off by their boss but you probably wouldn't want them to lose their wife and children. In the same way, not being bothered if a club goes out of business is a bit of an extreme stance to take.

Agree with what you're saying mate, love to see the clubs like Forest, Leeds, Chelsea etc. play badly and always want them to lose, but no matter how much I despise them I wouldn't want them to go out of business. People forget this was us a few years ago, imagine how we'd have felt if our club properly ceased to exist.
broughtonblue Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 R eally I rrelevant C lub O ver H ere! Im more concerned about how this topic is in leicesters forum than general sport?
Saxondale Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 Being from Loughborough, I'm inherently indifferent to Cov.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 How many clubs actually go out of business? None. Pointless discussion.
Gold Coast Fox Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 I got the jelly and ice cream out as soon as i heard the news. Loving every second of it.
wurmer Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 Had some sympathy until I read the creative accounting that they've done with the shell company they put into admin - which ultimately leaves the local council out of pocket. I think the league will see through it though. Hope they go bang now.

I think the league will see through it though. Hope they go bang now. This was tried by Southampton FC when they were trying to avoid administration. The High Court however found the football side of the businesses equally at fault and therefore placed all parties into admin. This is probably why the High Court case yesterday was adjourned until Tuesday for the Judge to decide whether to do this. Either way the football league could still deduct Coventry points for part of the business going into admin.
woznotwos Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 It's in the Guinness book of records as the biggest ever bukkake just checked and its not
MPH Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 Oh wow.... and people have the nerve to complain about Cov's scumbag fans! More than a little ironic.
Harry - LCFC Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 How many clubs actually go out of business? None. Pointless discussion. Chester City. Smaller club with less backing but it isn't impossible.
LCFC FOX Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 Chester City. Smaller club with less backing but it isn't impossible. I thought they were in Blue square somewhere? Am I wrong?
Harry - LCFC Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 I thought they were in Blue square somewhere? Am I wrong? Yep that's correct. Chester FC are the phoenix club of Chester City FC. CCFC were given a winding up order in the 09/10 season and all their results in the season were made obsolete, so the club did go out of business. They then had to set up again as CFC and start at the bottom of the Conference.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 Anyone fancy doing a bukakke down at the walkers, we could do it on Bernie. We need new Bernie material on YouTube for christs sake

By bottom of Conference you mean Northern Prem Div 1, They have won promotion every year and currently running away with Conf North, so will be Conference next season.
He's not bald Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 I feel really sorry for the club and all 16 supporters!

Yes, sorry. I just automatically put Conference whenever I'm referring to non-league, often forget they're not the same thing!
Matt Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 Portsmouth 2 - 0 Coventry. (And Coventry have had a penalty saved.)
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 Pompey 2 - 0 Coventry . Oh dear dear dear poor Cov
Corky Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 They are five points from sixth having played more games than most. Going to be a tough ask, made impossible with a points deduction.
Matt Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 They are five points from sixth having played more games than most. Going to be a tough ask, made impossible with a points deduction. They've done well given where they were after a few months of the season, struggling down the bottom of the league, I had them down to be relegated again, especially as I saw adminstration and a points deduction coming from the start of the season, but they turned it around and shot up the league, that has saved them from successive relegations.
