Ben Marshall being booed & apologises

Recommended Posts

We were 2-0 down, we'd had three inswinging corners in quick succession, Marshall took them and failed to beat the first man every time. On the third time, there was a huge groan from the fans right behind the goal.

We'd got the next corner on the counter attack, so he had to run a way for it. He was only jogging for the ball, so the fans were shouting at him to hurry up, as you do. He responded by clearly telling the fans to "**** off", along with several other things. He took the corner, again failing to beat the first man, and when he was lining up the resulting throw in, there were huge boos from our end. He then didn't really put his foot in for the rest of the match, there was a small break out of his song but nothing much.

I was there, and expect some kind of apology. Stupid and disgraceful.

"Team full of Schmeichel's, we want a team full of Schmeichel's..."

This is a spot on account.

Sauntered over to get the ball for the corner as if making his way from the sunbed to the pool in Portugal and the away end quite rightly told him to hurry up. He then clearly responded in a negative manner so got a bit of stick for the remainder of the match (during which he put minimal effort in). Had he just hurried up and not reacted then all of the other booing and abuse wouldn't have followed. He picked the wrong game to be giving to stick to our fans.

Walked off the pitch in conversation with Wellens who I think was having a word to make sure he didn't do anything else silly when walking past the away end. He looked quite hard done by and pissed off and when some fans chanted his name he gave them a bit of a token clap just before he disappeared into the tunnel (wouldn't be surprised if Wellens had urged him to as it looked somewhat reluctant).

Not acceptable behaviour from Marshall, particularly given the patience we've had with him in what's been a terrible season for him individually. Everything seemed to come to a head today...

He came back out with Kasper about 5 minutes later. Kasper had his arm round him and talking to him. I think something happen in the dressing room and was told to cool down. Lost his head.

A little while later we had a corner on the other side and Konchesky took his time getting over there, yet he had little (if any) criticism and had a far, far worse match than Marshall.

So why did we only go for Marshall?

A player gets upset and swears at the fans, 7 fooking pages.

Our team is gradually and quite relentlessly fooking up our best season in a decade and one of our better players gets fed up and swears at some fans giving him abuse........ :dunno:

And the fans get the hump, priceless....... lol lol lol lol lol

To be fair, Konchesky was one of the few who showed some passion today, and although he often runs like a headless chicken, he'd done a lot of running in the match whereas Marshall had only been on 10 mins and had already wasted about 4 corners!

To be honest I would be asking why Marshall is poor at corners, I would then be wondering why, pretty much everyone else in our team is poor at taking corners?

Then after a while I would be wondering why we hardly ever score from corners...... :/

These are all decent profesional footballers, they can probably hit a dead ball pretty much where they are told, which is what they do, (except Waghorn who often finds a City player but can't get a game), you work it out.

I'd have done the same if my own fans were singing 'OFF OFF OFF' after almost getting sent off, singing 'Marshall sort it out' and various other anti-Marshall chants. Cvnts to the left of us singing anti-team songs all game were soon told and despite them singing loyal supporters half the game were first ones to fvck off home.. knobs, our support has been excellent all season but this has really put a tint on that, shameful.

Sheffield Wednesday fans, according to Twitter, seem to think Ben Marshall isn't happy at Leicester and reckon he could be available for £350k.

He doesn't look happy to be fair but he is more likely to move to WBA for more than £350k if you ask me.

But...is he one of the malcontents?

Sorry but I dont believe that all that was said to him was, 'hurry up and take the corner'.

It seems every time (seldom does it occur) one of our players gives it back, the fans involved all of a sudden are scandalised at the use of foul language and the ungratefullness that they 'pay his wages'.

If you put a piece of paper in front of me saying it shouldnt happen, i'd sign it, but for one player saying **** off after a season of abuse, the amount of toys flying out of prams is ridiculous.

He's had a poor season but not as bad as some but is it his fault that we're all so frustrated? No. Does he aim to fvck up his set pieces? No. Does he have the right to be frustrated at how he's performed this season? Absolutely (he actually tweeted earlier in the season something along the lines of, 'I just wish something would go right'). Point being, he's a young player who when playing with confidence is a world beater. Unfortunately, like much of the team, there's zero confidence in the team. I be he probably dreaded the fact we won a corner as he'd been getting shit when he went over there before.

Its easy to say, 'supposed to be a pro' or 'the amount they get paid' etc etc but the bottom line is, if you're having shit thrown at you, everyone reaches a point when they throw stuff back. By the look of the team, they aren't together at all. Wouldnt shock me in the slightest if all they're doing is arguing and blaming each other for the mess we're in.

Booing and abusing players at this point is not worth it at all. They're obviously too far gone.

I take it you weren't there?

The incident with the corner came before the 'OFF OFF OFF' chants. There weren't any anti-Marshall chants before that, none which I heard anyway. There was a lot of groaning when he hit the first man for the third time in a row, but that was it.

His slow jog to fetch the ball for the corner was pathetic, and his reaction to our fans even more so. I didn't boo but can fully understand why other people did, and bar one or two chants which didn't need to be sung, I don't see how this is a tint on our support.

Our end was as pathetic as ever this year. Thought it had slowly improved and that the moaners would've stayed away with us being off form and taking about half what we took to a place 10 miles away when playing well, but clearly not, there was barely a song before kick off and it just set the tone, knew it'd be absolute shit from the off.

Seriously anyone who rates our away support these days is kidding themselves. Our numbers are good but the majority of even our away ends now are full of miserable fvckers who won't sing a word unless we're winning.

I'm not defending the team at all for the game either, I thought the performance was beyond a disgrace, but the tone was set from the away end before the game had even kicked off, good job the journeys have been a laugh this year because the aways inside the ground have honestly been the worst ever.

Wasnt there, dont know what happened, but given the example set by his manager when dealing with fans...this is no surprise.

It was frustration on both sides, let it blow over.

Give me a T, give me an H, give me an I, give me an S.

Let's all have a This-co, let's all have a This-co, la la la la oo la la la la oi.

I don't attend many games myself now due to university commitments and near enough full-time work so I'm not gonna slate players over what everyone else has said, but I did go to Oakwell, and it was absolutely abysmal. Not the same team that stuffed Huddersfield in October. Reference to BM, everyone has a right to an opinion as you pay stupid prices to watch week in week out, but to boo your own player is wrong. Most notably, what got to me was the group of lads at the back who sang for Pearson and Ben Marshall and then called for Pearson's head, chanted MoN's name and started the boos to BM. I'm sure Bert and Chloe can back up what I'm saying here. It was a disgusting performance, but I personally feel it's wrong to boo your own player(s). Whether or not NP has managed his last game, we must stick together like the majority of us did today, and get behind the boys in blue! Even though it was a shambolic performance, I'm as much disgruntled as what every city fan is at the moment but we have to stick behind the lads until the very last game of the season! Foxes.

Ironically some of the best corners I've seen from a city player in recent years were taken by Tom Kennedy.

We've been piss poor at dead ball situations for so long its depressing to think about it. Off the top of my head only Waghorn and before that, Sheehan have shown themselves capable of whipping the ball into dangerous areas with some pace and spin on the ball.

Pro footballer in fans spat shock horror!!

Prima donna footballer cant take the pressure...Ahh!

Apart from his 1st season he's been shit...if a minority of fans did give him some shit...good on em.

You cant keep happy clapping players when fans have paid good money to travel to watch a bunch of spineless overpaid tossers.

They get the applause and songs if and when they win and they love it.

Likewise you play like a muppet...expect some grief.

I didn't think we were that bad yesterday, apart from the 10-15 cretins at the back singing for MON and for Pearson to be sacked. Considering the dross we were watching I thought were quite decent noise wise. Certainly been to much worse games for atmosphere this season.

It was dreadful. A few years ago we'd have laughed off that kind of game, there'd be plenty just making noise regardless of how shit we are but not any more.

We'll have to agree to disagree I think! Where were you stood by the way?

2-0 down with time to still snatch something from the game if we wanted it enough and when Ben little more than strolled to take the corner then gesture like he did to the fans after little more than come ons! From an eager crowd was disgraceful he'd only just come on so should not of been tired etc. he was just being lazy and seemed like he really didnt care! That to me deserved everything that went on at that time.. The following off chants etc were to far and in my eyes unacceptable and pointless and came from a small bunch of idiots at the back that were just as fustrating as the match itself from minute one everything they did was a negative and i dont know about anyone else but they really got under my skin! There are one of two ways this matter can be resolved in my eyes Ben starts the next game and puts things right with a man of the match performance or secondly if he doesn't feel he was in the wrong etc. we should get him as far away from this club as possible!
