Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Those 2 pts dropped thanks to Nugent could be massive now......
LCFC FOX Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Nugents fault really? Blackburn, Brighton, Barnsley, sheff wed, Millwall etc? All games we were poor in or games we conceded late in as well...
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Was meant as a touch of irony. It will be totally our own fault if we don't make the POs
Munshi Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Nugents fault really? Blackburn, Brighton, Barnsley, sheff wed, Millwall etc? All games we were poor in or games we conceded late in as well... The way we conceded though
Kitchandro Posted 20 April 2013 Author Posted 20 April 2013 I just think i'd be a big embaressment, maybe even getting a lower points total than Derby should we go up, certainly looking back at that 13 game bad spell. I understand no matter when we go up a big job is on regards getting new players, rebuilding, strengthening but i'd hope to think we'd be atleast half way there when getting promotion I struggle to feel we're even half way there. 1) We're an embarrassment down here. I'm embarrassed at how shit we've been the last 10 years. I'm embarrassed at the shit teams who are miles better than us. 2) I'm sure we can strengthen enough to get 12 points. 3) Our cause won't be helped at all if we stay here. Do you think the team will be in better shape in a year's time? Think again.
Happy Fox Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Not making the playoffs with the squad we have would be a travesty but anyway we haven't come to that situation yet. Just got to focus on beating Watford and hoping and praying that Bolton slip us away to Cardiff.
dedlock Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Evening all, well that was interesting. Two good but out of form sides, both nervous as hell and both looking for a win, well mostly. It was a pretty open game and, biased as I might be, I thought we were just the better side. Two great goals and we really could have had one or two more, should have won to be honest. So why didn't we, the bloody defence! We were all over the place and committed two cardinal sins, both have been issues all season but today they were disastrous. Firstly we gave away far too many free kicks and corners and then, basically, struggled to defend them. The lack of decisiveness and composure in our box was even worse than usual, and it cost us. Best defensive record maybe, but best back 4, I don't think so. Wherever we are come seasons end there has to be a serious rethink. Despite the statistics, other than Morgan, the back 4 have been inconsistent most of the season. Should we ,miraculously, get in the play offs and up we will be slaughtered Whilst we have conceded amongst the fewest goals in the Championship, there have been too many goals conceded by poor positioning, Bolton and today only the most recent examples.
Corky Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 That's how football should be played, two teams trying to win the game, open, entertaining football, no diving or histrionics. We were the better side, but defensively we looked shaky (though Konchesky dealt well with Zaha). Going forward I thought we mixed it up well, a fair bit of long ball/ direct stuff but interspersed with good one-touch movement which was as we were earlier in the season. Would've loved a win, but I saw plenty of encouragement for the third game this week and it seems like the confidence is returning to the team. It was a world away from the Barnsley game, but the points are so, so crucial now. All to play for. But I enjoyed my day and came away having been entertained for 90 minutes.
Tom17LCFC Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Quality day out, thought the celebrations for both goals were decent. Off to celebrate/drown my sorrows depending on the way you look at it. I'd have taken a point before the game though!

alanf0x Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Sounds like we tried hard, but a month too late, blown it.
Leicesterpool Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 A reasonable good performance for me today, a draw was a fair result both teams had there fair share of chances. Left the ground feeling quite pleased in what i seen, cracking atmosphere from all. The only negative i have I've noticed with both two goals, kasper watched them both go in, he didn't even make an attempt to stop it.

Thought it was a decent game with both sides being pretty positive. This left both defences open at times and nerves played a part too, overall I thought we were the better side and just about deserved a win. Pif we could defend corners and free kicks we would have got it too!
Dan Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 2 points dropped. We can use whatever we like to paper over the cracks but yet again, for the third game in four now we have come away with a mere point from a game we should've won. We've improved a lot as a team since the run between February/March, we look more confident and a bit more back to what we were like before, but the facts are there, we have yet again failed to win. How can you have 26 shots and not win? Unacceptable. It's just us all over that we've sorted the performances out where results have become increasingly vital, and it's our results that still need a lot of work. Sorry to come on here all pessimistic/negative as it's not a disgrace, far from it, but we've had the chances yet again to take three points when it's vital and we've failed to deliver, yet again, it's silly how often it happens.

Speroni's a decent Championship keeper, but he's not THAT good, a lot of our efforts on goal are very tame or speculative. Lloyd and Schlupp showed a killer finish on Tuesday night, but it was sadly lacking at Palace.
inckley fox Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 We can delude ourselves that it was a good point, but it wasn't. It saw us drop out of the play-off zone (having been 10+ points clear of Bolton a couple of months ago) and it also saw promotion fall out of our hands for the first time all season. Over the course of a season a point at Palace might seem a good point. In our current position, on the back of one of the worst runs in our history and desperately needing points, it wasn't. My greatest concern is that a defence which has conceded two goals for two games running was unchanged and then, lo and behold, conceded two goals all over again. While I maintain that there's a good case for Pearson remaining manager, his policy of refusing to change the side whenever we win, no matter how rubbish we look, will end up costing us. For all of his strengths, he is one of the least proactive managers I've ever known.
Dan Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 How many other teams in the league would have 26 shots, 18 on target away from home and not win!? We do it probably more than the rest of the league combined. Think a lot under-estimate how bad that really is, I'm honestly so used to us being wasteful it's stupid. There is a hell of a lot of potential in this side, but we simply haven't reached it this season and even if we do get the play-offs, does anyone seriously think we've got the character to win them? If we get promoted I will be simply stunned.

Lloyd and Schlupp showed a killer finish on Tuesday night, but it was sadly lacking at Palace. We're inefficient. In 2009/10 under Pearson, being efficient was our secret weapon. Three years later with the same manager despite lots of change in-between, we are the total opposite.

Better than Keane or Morgan? Moore? Got taken to peices against Brighton. Something else?

Matt Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 This defence hasn't been brilliant all season at all. Other than Morgan it's been utter bang average. Gotta agree if our defence has been one of the best in the league this season, which stats show, it really doesn't say much for the quality of the league does it, it also alludes to what people mentioned about yesterdays match adding more questions to our strikers and the amount of shots on target/attempts to goals scored ratio and suggest's it is very poor. I also think for once I agree with Leicesterpool after seeing the goals, Schmeichel didn't really do alot for them, he didn't even attempt to force a save, even if he did force a save they may have gone in but he seemed to watch them go past.
Guest ttfn Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 This defence hasn't been brilliant all season at all. Other than Morgan it's been utter bang average. So why have we conceded so few goals then? I agree that in the last 15 games we have looked very poor defensively. Set pieces today were an absolute shambles. But let's not forget that, in spite of conceding 2 in 4 of the last 5 games, we've still got one of the best records in the league.
chapero82 Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 Being honest with the amount of bad errors Kearney has made in the team he would not be my first choice he's young and still learning and will be quality one day but right now too many mistakes for me I said this a few games back when he should have headed it out and stayed with his man...... But he didn't the whole team across the pitch has cost us points I admit but the defence has been a shambles
artursteppe Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 We are not the only ones who are nervous. Bolton fans will be thinking 'if Leicester win their last two games we have to beat Cardiff away who will be celebrating winning the title in front of a capacity crowd'.
